I wouldn't call burst an "advantage", any more than I'd call advancing guard to be an advantage. At best, a burst puts the game back to neutral in BB at least. True, some matchups have certain characters pwning the neutral game (ie: Tager vs Nu-13)... but say, if Tager bursts vs Nu, I wouldn't say that Tager gained an advantage. Its a defensive maneuver that few games have, but its far from a comeback mechanism.

GG Burst... maybe, because offensive Gold Burst fills your meter. But Gold Burst doesn't get better the less life you have. For all intents and purposes, its like a Dragon Install or Ragna's Blood Kain. It heavily shifts the favor into one character for a temporary amount of time, but it doesn't actually get better the less life you have. Defensive Burst gives you sexy knockdown, but I'm not exactly good enough to know whether or not you get Oki followup...

Anyway, comeback mechanisms are okay, as long as they're reasonable. I don't like the Tekken Rage system, or X-Factor. SF4 Ultras are passable, I'm kinda neutral on the concept and implementation. Super-Bars gaining meter in BB from getting hit by your opponent's combos is fine as a "comeback" mechanism. Its just X-Factor is way too damn strong. Not only does it serve as a rapid cancel, but it resets proration (wtf?). If you know what you're doing, comboing into XFactor will guarantee that at least one of your opponent's guys will die, and now you got setups for the next guy. (ie: X23's Silent Kill as the next guy switches in, along with all of the other traps and crossups and air-grabs as the new character comes in...) Turning many matches into single-character sweeps is just dumb.

Long story short, I agree with qwerty in that comeback mechanisms are fine. Its just that recent games have pushed them over the edge. (I disagree with some technicalities in qwerty's argument, but I agree with the overall picture)

Warning! : this game makes you horrible at Blazblue. dumb game makes you dumb

lol I know right, tried to play CS yesterday and stopped after 2 games = w=

Kept trying to AG everything, wondering why D didn't launch my opponent, and confused as to why my rapid dial magic combos were gone X3

A friend of mine brought this over and all I have to say is that this game is beyond easymodo. Winning with Trish actually made me feel a little brain dead.

FUCK DOOM'S MISSION 9. PERIOD.

Actually wasn't so bad once you got into the rhythm of it. Not doing it again though ^_____________^

So far I'm experimenting with.. (since the game lets you make 3 teams, why not!)

Zero (Hadangeki) / Taskmaster (Parabolic Shot) / Tron (Gustaff Fire)

--Tron fire extends Zero's ground chain long enough to full-charge just holding L. EZ modo. Task is just sort of "there" because I like him and provides solid options. Will have to put some actual time into Tron in the (likely) event I actually need to use her. Maybe I should lead with Taskmaster? *shrug*

Wesker (Samurai Edge) / Dormammu (Dark Hole) / Hsien-ko (Pendulum)

--Dorm is super easy/fun and with Wesker his BnB will always build a meter (and in the corner, can do a hand charge for style points). Wesker benefits from either character to keep the enemy popped up after an OTG 3H shot, and I feel disadvantaged leading with the other two. Hsien is pure character love. Ideally Dorm will be the meter hog.

Spencer (Armor Piercer) / Hulk (Gamma Wave) / Dr Doom (HIDDEN MISSILEZ)

--Spencer/Hulk pack a punch, Doom brings the missiles. Need to learn put in a few minutes to learn the flashier (read: OMG not super easy LMHS) Doom combos. Really though this one is open to scrapping; I just want a home for Spencer :)

Now I want to netplay/go to a scene so I can get trashed by people who can actually block.

I'm happy this game basically made me "learn" stick though. All the DPs and shit helped me break it in, finally. Now I'll go back to Blaz and realize I still can only do a 720 on a pad and cry.

Completely agreed. This game.... Ugh I hate just how stupid things that work in no other game seem to work in marvel. And I think the man that thought of xfactor should be dragged into the nearest street corner and be stoned within an inch of his life.

Ew tell me about it, with X-factor level 3 Tron I was killing characters in 4-5 solid hits, Pheonix about only 2 lol.

Seriously, hit X-factor become an SNK Boss. Oh well at least the game is a little fun to play.

I was trying Tron/Spencer/Doom as an alternative to Tron/Hulk/Doom and it actually flowed together similarly. Ultimately I don't think it works quite as nicely but it was a passable configuration, I just feel like Hulk's gamma wave is a better assist for Doom/Tron than anything spencer has, and hulk is pretty much the ideal character to maximize the 100% kill combo gimmick that the team thrives on

Is it just me, or is it that the more I play this game, the more I appreciate MvC2 more? Not that there's anything wrong with playing this game, I enjoy it despite what MvC2 purists may say. :)

Agree'd, the game is fun and all, but I'm getting tired of having HUGE 3 character leads on someone and when they pull out Lvl3 X-factor and completely destroy me when I make one tiny mistake.

But yeah, obligatory X factor rant.

it's that kind of rediculousness that makes me want to pick up spencer...just have to figure out a good team for him. thinking spenc/she-hulk/doom but those two will take even longer for me to get into shape than spencer himself =o=;

OMG Jill and Shuma Gorath are fun! :3

The only thing I don't like about Jill is her machine gun hyper just sucks! Sure it has OTG capabilities but she has better options, it's honestly great for it's movement. Also her knee dive will take some getting use to since all versions come straight down (but are all overheads), also Mad Beast is just full of lols even if you don't know what you're doing (wrapped outta the way of Deadpool's gun hyper only to wrap right back into it XD)

Shuma is fun all around (and I hate charge characters so I'm shocked how much I like him) and it's actually super simple and easy to hit with the 2nd part of Chaos Dimension since you can link it after any Mystic Smash.

Can you do the DHC trick with Jill's cinematic super?

I dunno... :kitty:

Doesn't work (or should I say is unneeded) for Shuma as his only cinematic hyper is his lvl 3, which doesn't scale anyways.

Also Shuma's standing H giving him +12 on block AND hit is just too godlike + w+ (actually most of Shuma's specials give him great frame advantage, it's his hypers that suck in this regard, especially cause he has too look all sassy XD)

Thanks. Was on the fence on purchasing her or not, now I'm sure.

I don't buy characters I don't intend on playing(which is why I ain't got Valk).

Yeah i'm cheap like that:(

Lol, nah it aint cheap, it just makes sense! The only reason I even have Jil-ma Gorath is due to the fact I got the special edition of MvC3, otherwise there was no way in hell I was going to deliberately pay for those characters (that's why I didn't bother buying the costumes)

Ive been in the lab bigtime with Jill.

Yeah you can DHC trick her kicks super into whatever ya want.

Hmmm I like Shuma a bit more then Jill now...

Jill's biggest overall flaw is mobility, she just doesn't have enough of it and no great tools to help her space in on her opponent; Sure you can use Feral Crouch to zip over but no matter how you look at it that is a 2 step process, which limits it's practicality. She also has Arrow Kick which jets her a good distance, but on whiff you have no good ways of staying safe or continuing your assault, alot on hit it sends both you AND your opponent too far apart for you to do anything (unless they're in the corner then you can get some follow up attacks as well as a full combo. Her Machine Gun spray is great for getting close since it covers a good amount of distance and range, but if you use it across the screen (for example) and you land in front of your opponent you leave yourself wide open, any other placement can get you in a relatively safe position to do things. But since it's a hyper I wouldn't count it as an ideal movement tool, especially when you could be spending meter on Raven Spike <3 Her 2M makes her slide and goes under things (naturally) but it's a really short window.

As for her hypers; Machine Gun Spray might as well be useless because Raven Spike is far superior! It's pretty easy to combo into however like Maximum Spider/Wesker has NO invincibility so it's easy to be hit out of it, I recommend only using it in combos or to punish something mid screen (as it's range is good, but not that good). Mad Beast is a mixed bag, it'll definitely take some getting used to, my biggest gripe is the fact you loose all the follow up attacks of Feral Crouch :< Also since ever direction warps you it is hard to land alot of attacks (often I tried doing Raven Spike but once 6 was inputed I warped on the other side of the opponent and did nothing XD) while in this mode the best way to inflict damage is using Jill's loop (236+L>236+M xN) as she can't 1, 2, or 3 warp unless she's in the air.

Also Feral Crouch (Mad Beast or not) is a guaranteed cross over if your opponent is in the corner; Jill will ALWAYS warp behind them.

Overall Jill's not a bad character, however she does feel REALLY incomplete; Jill players have alot of work to do during fights and if anything she is the complete opposite of her MvC2 iteration.
