Puente Hills mall has a new arcade. And apparently it has significantly less tripe and significantly more win games than the usual US arcade. Anyone have a list of games they have? I might go this weekend to check it out. I'm hoping against hope for Senko Duo.

+ Most of the games listed in "other" were in very nice looking setups. Most if not all were HD where applicable.

+ All fighters and shmups used Japanese parts.

This list is extremely comprehensive. I don't believe I missed any machines at all.

As far as price goes, most fighters/shmups were 3 credits, some were 4. The dollar/credit rate is 31.25 cents per credit, 3.2 credits per dollar. That means you will be paying ~93.75 cents for 3-credit games and 1.25 for 4-credit games. Cards cost $1 for initial purchase. You can get a "Member's Card" for $5 which supposedly gives you a $1 price break every $5. The guy who explained it to me didn't seem too sure.

All I know is no CS as of yet.

The day they get that, I'll go check it out.

Or I'll go check it out the day I stand corrected.

Let us know how it is.

That shit got Initial D.

Why can't Brazil have such amazing arcades? We are stuck on Initial D 4th Stage and Tekken 5.

At least you're still a step ahead of North Korea.

I'd like to see a game list.

Big arcades like this have to charge a lot in order to support themselves, which is fine; if we want big arcades we have to expect to pay more. And I'm sure they'll get a good scene for racing, shooting and music games (AI will probably hurt because of the music games, Round 1 is pretty close). But the fighting game crowd is pretty stingy when it comes to paying for games, and if any of those fighters are anything more than 25c (with exception of SF4, T6BR and BBCS), no fighting game players will go there. Big arcades have to charge a lot of money, that's just how it works, and that's why small arcades get more of a fighting game scene, because they're the only ones who are able to survive on 25c per play.

I'll definitely have to check Round 1 out sometime. I love Initial D, and I haven't seen a Stage 5 anywhere. It looks like they only have Pump It Up and Dance Dance Revolution SN2, they need to get an In the Groove machine!

LA already has Arcade Infinity. How come they couldn't open up in San Diego instead?

Rumor has it AI won't be around for much longer. --> "/

And their CS lags like crazy on that blue viewlix setup. --> D:

I heard in an article on SRK that the lease for AI was expiring soon (Like September or October). That means Ken has to decide to renew or to leave. He might pay rent on a month by month basis, but a LOT of arcades have been choosing the option to leave once their lease is up (Hall Amusement, Plush Q, etc.). Ken had said in the article that he didn't think that AI would stay in business after 3 more months, and now that Round One came out that seems like a nail in the coffin =/. I don't like seeing arcades dying, it hurts the scene everywhere.

SSF4 being $23,000 doesn't help, either.

Wtffffffff...I just played there last night and I thought I was dropping everything because I was used to playing online. I suck at BB anyway, but I didn't think my execution was that bad!

Whose? AI or R1?

He must mean AI because he said there's no CS at R1.

I'm assuming that the Tekken 6's are BR. Is that correct?

Also, Max Tune 3, is that DX or DX Plus?

It's a shame they couldn't get a better fighting game selection. ST is probably a better pick than HSF2. No Guilty Gear or 3rd Strike either =/. But If you like music games it looks like they've got a lot (though no ITG, Beatmania or technomatika).

Round 1 is pretty much the new spot for Tekken 6 until they get some newer games. Even though the games are kind of pricey, there's a way to bypass it (Hint: Just get a bunch of people to pitch in for an unlimited play hour card, which is only like $7 or so, and just pump the machine with as many credits as possible, and repeat as necessary).

I used to do that at GameWorks when I lived in Arizona. R1 probably limits it like GameWorks does, but you can still cheat the system.

GW had it where you have unlimited credits on the card for 1 hour, but it would only let you use the card once every 1.5 minutes. I usually played DDR over there, and most songs are 1.5 minutes long. My friends and I would split an unlimited card and we'd just keep swiping it while each other was playing.

It works well if you and your friends are the only ones on the machine, but no so well if you have other people there, too.

T6 is BR, Max Tune I think is regular but don't kill me if it isn't.

Cali still needs some place to get Senko DUO. This is driving me mad.

I'll look into going again. Now that AI is gone there's really nowhere else to go unless you want to drive up to FFA.

Actually, I went to Round 1 yesterday, and they have BlazBlue now. The problem about BlazBlue is that it's not currently set up. I'm suspecting it's either broken or recently arrived and they haven't had time to set it up.

At least they have Guilty Gear Accent Core though, which is set up and ready for use.
