St1ckBuG Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I think the way SRK does it, is you submit a: name, date/time, and stream link. There are a couple mods that look through the submissions and add them. The only draw back to this is sometimes people that submit stuff don't get added. I think on a few occasions Sp00ky's stream would fall through the cracks somehow. I personally think everyone should be able to write to the calendar. Edit: Looks good btw shtkn.
FunkyP Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I'm a fan of submitting then mod approval, every stream or event I've ever submitted has gotten listed on SRK's calender
shtkn Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 system limitations: - i've only tested this with all-day events, so odds are it wont work with the other options (multiday events, recurring events). This means for streams that span multiple days or streams with a regular schedule, someone will ahve to enter each occurrence of the stream manually. Ex: if you plan to stream 4 times, then someone will ahve to enter it into the calendar 4 times. - the stream calendar is currently different from teh regular calendar, though that can be changed easily enough. EDIT: guess not. - streams don't show a start time. It only shows the day they stream. - currently, i have the plugin to show upcoming streams for hte next 7 days. This can be changed if desired.
St1ckBuG Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Can't you just put the stream start time in name of the stream? I don't think any feature like that needs to be added. Just request that the stream information be submitted with a certain syntax.
shtkn Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 yes you can, but the issue is that when they show up on the front page they won't be ordered by start time (only by date).
shtkn Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 alright, for the meantime, i think we'll just stick with only staff having write access. i'll also make a usergroup that can edit the calendar and we can add ppl to it if needed. i think we'll just have a stickied thread in event announcements where ppl can post their stream info and staff will add it to the calendar. i'll make an article+thread about how to make the calendar events tomorrow during my downtime at work
huey253 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 PNW stream at about 730pm pst on friday evenings. i'm running the stream if you need anything else.
shtkn Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 go to the event announcement section and follow the stickied thread about streams
blueNINE Posted January 27, 2011 Author Posted January 27, 2011 Oh wow. It happened! Thanks to those involved.
FunkyP Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Awesome, really appreciate you getting this done. Also just an observation, every single time I've come across the main page the stream list format keeps changing lol.
zeth07 Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 The listing for Stickbug's stream disappeared. I'm assuming it is because it is now the day of/time of, so I'm guessing it will do that for the following streams as well. The listing doesn't stay active as it is happening or once that time frame comes up. Unless it was removed on purpose.
shtkn Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 thats' a strange bug. i think it has something to do with the internal date/time being based on GMT more than anything else. in any case, iput in a hack to show stuff for now, hopefully it works.
huey253 Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 you stream list is displaying yesterday's stream still. just thought you would like to know.
shtkn Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 sigh, when you hack something in, that's what you get. i'll look at it later, but i think it'll take a while to fix since i'm not sure what is the underlying cause
