Cross them up if they aren't doing the barrier OS thing. If they aren't it means they are at least being defensive giving you more of an opportunity to actually run a mixup on them. I'd try to throw them more as well or do TRM type stuff, see if they can actually tech the throws. Even simple stuff like 5A>5D/2D or 2A>5D. Because it seems like they are fully expecting you to just do 5A>5BB or 5A>5B>2C and what have you. Do the actual high/low mixup earlier and getting the weakpoint will make it more threatening. Basically if they are truly trying to block everything it should give you more of an opportunity to mix them up, because it means they aren't mashing which is usually the problem with trying crossthrough mixups.

It should be any special. And Cobra isn't special canceled into Valiant/Hornet, it's a link. It works because you are hitting the opponent "in the air" with Cobra which has 36f of hitstun, while Valiant has 26f of startup / Hornet has 27f. Compare that to Cobra's 21f of ground hitstun and you can see why it only works when you catch them OTG with TCL.

Tao can punish Azrael for HITTING with Growler and the combo does 4.7k with 25% heat. Some other characters can immediately reapply pressure even when Growler hits. This is at least fixed in the update but as it is now it is not exactly the best thing in the world to use in certain match-ups. I'll just say I thought some of Dogura's match-ups were weird but he would know better than anyone I guess. This kind of thing is precisely why I do not want to put any opinion based information like that in the match-up threads, like saying a match is 4-6 or something, as it just provides a crutch for people and there isn't a "correct" answer it seems.

It's not really different if you're asking people who understand their character. If you look at the Azrael changes so far, the majority of them I would consider fixes of things that I personally even wanted well before the existence of the update. Because when you play the character you can tell when things don't make sense. The other reason I would call them "fixes" instead of "buffs" like some people think is because they don't directly impact the opponent or the match-up. Not counting the actual buff of special cancel drives in OD. There is a difference between asking for things that make sense / making "adjustments" and outright doing random buffs / nerfs. Like the Bang changes from EX to CP made no sense and I have no idea what they were thinking. They could've added the new moves and tweaked things, but instead they changed a bunch of stuff that really didn't need changing.

So glad they fixed Growler. It was one of the few things I have been asking for whenever they decided to do an update. Sentinel Dump input change is nice as well. I'm hoping the Cobra / Leopard change implies that it is more universal during combos so you don't need to delay or do it fast depending on characters. Can't wait til more info is given.

I would recommend just picking Rachel for those match-ups if both of your characters are at a equal level. Rachel has better tools to deal with both of them in my opinion.

That is more or less Azrael's character flaw within the game mechanics. He doesn't have the benefit of hard knockdowns like Slayer does in GG, nor does he have some of the movement tools. You either need to be patient / have good defense (wait for them to come to you) or continue to try and go in after people hoping for higher reward vs. the risk. The other alternative is to pick a different character. If you're netplaying/casuals that might not matter, but if it is a tournament there's no reason not to try and avoid something that feels like a bad match-up, at least if you actually have another character to play. There are a lot of characters in BB now and that's a lot of match-ups, it would make sense for people to have alts to avoid bad match-ups for their main if they are legitimately competitive with the game. I personally alternate between Bang/Azrael every match (unless I'm avoiding mirrors), and in my opinion there are definitely match-ups that I would rather pick one over the other if if I was serious enough about wanting to win. There isn't really much advice to give because that's just how the character plays.

Yea that's the one I was referring to since it is very easy to do and still does 5k+. I don't remember what my reason was but I was using j.2D for the LW ender, maybe because 3D was whiffing ? or it gained more heat ? but I honestly don't remember. 6D ender does slightly more than 5D but it is negligible, not that it really matters. One night I was more or less just thinking of a basic scenario that would kill the opponent while using OD and lead into the unblockable from something really simple. Just so happened to relate to this discussion which is why I brought it up.

For B, I think it is pretty easy since as long as you already have a weakpoint applied (and 90% or less HP) you can just go right into a nice damaging combo off 5BB, easy confirm. With less HP it really opens up Azrael's metagame cause you can keep the UW applied and end with LW to have both. Then typically you'd have 50% by then and can go right into 5C>BHS unblockable. Even more heat = RC after BHS>combo>death for ANY character. That's a HUGE comeback factor that's really easy to do with very plausible circumstances. EDIT: Just to put things into perspective with numbers, and just using "basic" combos not even the best ones. At 90% HP / no Heat: 5A UW BnB + 5BB OD combo = ~7,000 DM + UW reapplied + 50% Heat = More than 50% life on ANY character, next time you even touch Carl/Tao/low health characters they're dead by any combo confirm into BHS (ex.5A>5BB>BHS). At <=59% HP / no Heat: 5A UW BnB + 5BB OD combo (end with LW) + 5C>BHS unblockable = ~10,000 DM = Some characters are at 10-20% HP left, Carl/Tao/etc. are DEAD regardless if they get hit by 5C or not. At <=59% HP / >=49% Heat: 5A UW BnB + 5BB OD combo (end with LW) + 5C>BHS unblockable + RC>3D>combo = ~13,000+ DM = Every character is dead regardless if they get hit by 5C or not. If they don't get hit by 5C you'll need to do a decent combo off 3D but won't even finish it before Tager is dead. Of course they can burst mostly anywhere or CA the 5C if they're paying attention, but if they don't have a burst or aren't attentive enough to CA they're all dead from a fairly routine set of combos that more or less lead into each other.

The other thing to consider is that it might make them special cancelable. Knowing you can get weakpoints even on block means it would become much easier to get unblockable BHS as the opponent would be practically helpless from it (outside of CA / Burst anyway). Normally you'd use OD if you at least have one weakpoint already applied, which means if they become SCable all you'd have to do is throw out the other weakpoint and regardless of hit/block you could then do BHS unblockable immediately from it. Doesn't seem like a huge deal now but it at least opens up more opportunities to use it if true.

Terumi was #2 behind Ragna. Kokonoe was above Izayoi. And you forgot Amane, who was actually last of the new characters not surprisingly. I can confirm Dogura doing this. I saw him doing it on his stream while in training mode against Relius one day while testing it out.
