Thino Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 2 days? what time does Gamecenter close at usually?
Whiteboywilly Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 I think making Super nci a 2 day event is something that should be discussed as a community. I know for some people who drive out a couple hours it will be hard to do that 2 days in a row. So were gonna need to think of lodging ideas or maybe making it a normal one day thing. Just something to discuss, I dont need people blowing up on me for no reason.
Spirit Juice Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 No reason to blow up on a fraud. But yeah, let's talk about adding Gundam to the official roster since it seems like the GG/MB scenes have moved on to Gundam. Everyone aspires to be like Gundam Meister Tamaki. God speed where ever you are, Tamaki. AH scene is just as dead. ;(
Chun Posted January 16, 2012 Author Posted January 16, 2012 I've been busy with personal family news, so my apologies for not getting everyone updated. As of now, I am seriously considering a GvG tournament addition as a replacement for MB and AH3. However, in the case people are still interested in keeping it as such, I would expect a regular MB/GG tournament this coming NCI in February. The reason for the 2 days has already been discussed, and myself and Myung are in plans to talk with local hotels for cheap lodging/places to stay as an arrangement. At this time I am also reaching out to sponsors from NOS Energy Drink, Atlus, and Aksys for prizes or pot donations (We'll see how it plays out). I am hoping within this 2 month time frame that PayPal preregistration and player name registration databases will be created, hosted, and kept track of for the future as well. Look forward to the work ahead (Or my work ahead, as a programmer lol). For the past 2 weeks I've been working out a flexible NCI schedule, and having numbers such as those from SNCI is unrealistic as a 1 day event with the amount of games and time necessary. There have been inquiries about the next major event from the middle of the country, and they plan to drive over. I wish to help those and the regulars have an enjoyable experience. Again, there's much I can say, but the short story is, the date cannot be changed at this point, I'll have official word on MB and GG (Though the GG scene seems still active) and GvG, and updates on both the website and associated media outlets. Maybe dustloop front page if I can get it up in time. Thanks. ~Chun
Dakanya Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 MB out imo AH3 out imo idk about GG but it will still get entrants proll which leaves Gundam, BB, KOF? i think 1 day is still doable but BB needs to be run faster cause last time there were too many delays and BB took until 2am
Spirit Juice Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Having finals on day two will free up a lot of time for everything, since it looks like it being a two day event is going to happen.
blk_mage Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 So would it just be top 8 for everything on the second day then?
ehuangsan Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 GG should still get a lot of entrants. I would really like to have MB, but I guess it depends on how many people sign up for it. It would be nice to be able to showcase the new MB.
Fayk Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 My prediction is that a 2-day event leads to a drop-off in attendance for Day 2. Last year, NCR was a 2-day event last year (hotel, milpitas) and the whole hotel setup has some awesome things going for (read: casuals, including a friend bringing his candy cab into his room and people playing 3S until 5AM or so), but... I guess to say it another way: NCI is a much smaller event (though more games I think are cool!) than NCR, for moving into the same (effectively) price/effort bracket*. I think my general hermit apathy will strike critical hit and I doubt I'd drive out to San Mateo for day two. That's just me, though. *This year it's SFSU instead of a hotel, wtf NCR folks
qwerty Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 BB + KOF + Gundam + GG as a $1 entry round robin for the hell of it
Tari Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 GG should still get a lot of entrants. I would really like to have MB, but I guess it depends on how many people sign up for it. It would be nice to be able to showcase the new MB. Showcasing the new MB would be neat. I'm alright with a two day event. I don't know how useful my opinion is, though, since I also only live like 15-20 minutes away from the venue when I'm in the area.
Tari Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Nope. Flew back out on the 8th. Hella haven't even played BB for real in like a month, too, lol.
Yggjrasil Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Nope. Flew back out on the 8th. Hella haven't even played BB for real in like a month, too, lol. Do you have CSE?
Tari Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 Yup. I unwrapped it yesterday, after having it for nearly a month! :D Huzzah~.
totoroslayer Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 So, I'm going to see if I can negotiate some rates with the nearest Comfort Inn. It's the closest place to stay, and it's about a 15 minute walk or about a 5 minute drive. How many people would need a place to stay? Would it be for one night or 2? Are you going regular (2 or 3 to a room), poverty (4 to a room), or ultra-Smash-Brothers-Melee poverty (6 to a room)?
Dakanya Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 in the interest of those who only want to attend for one day, i think we should try to finish what we can all in one day ie guilty gear...
qwerty Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Yeah, two days is a bit too much for me. Doubly so if you need a new wristband for each day.
Kaori Manabe Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 1 day nci is every month not every year people want to play with thier cats on sunday
Shining Aquas Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Man, I go through the trouble of practicing the new MB only to hear it's probably getting dropped. Sad shit. On the other side, I guess I need to acquire GvG? Game looks fun I guess. How are we counting DLC? Are the tournaments random 2v2 or 1v1? How does one commentate 4 screens worth of Gundam, let alone stream 4 screens worth of Gundam? February NCI? Things that might be nice to know.
totoroslayer Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 First and foremost, I think people are a little unclear, partly because there hasn't been much news, and partly due to some misstatements. The next NCI is Feb 4th. This is a regular NCI (1 day), and it will have the added bonus of the BBRev prelims. The SUPER NCI (2 days), is in March (the weekend of the 18th, I believe). For that we will be inviting players from all over, we will probably have the full set of games for everyone (we can do that with 2 days, now), and generally a good time will be had by all. There will probably be a small discount for venue fee ($12 for the weekend). The two day event would ONLY be for superNCI in our current plans. in the interest of those who only want to attend for one day, i think we should try to finish what we can all in one day ie guilty gear... Running whole events in one day is an option we are discussing. Yeah, two days is a bit too much for me. Doubly so if you need a new wristband for each day. Well, we'll miss you qwerty Man, I go through the trouble of practicing the new MB only to hear it's probably getting dropped. Sad shit. On the other side, I guess I need to acquire GvG? Game looks fun I guess. It is. How are we counting DLC? All are valid. It's a hassle to get because I need HK PSN cards, but I'm working on it and should have it before the next NCI Are the tournaments random 2v2 or 1v1? How does one commentate 4 screens worth of Gundam, let alone stream 4 screens worth of Gundam? The last NCI stream will answer those questions. Fayk Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Informative words Thank you for laying it out like that just to make sure it's clear to everyone. Perhaps (even if signups aren't in place) something could be posted to the main (wordpress) page? Date announcement + "Details TBA" or whatever? Gamelist w/o details? Just a thought/suggestion!
