Lord Knight Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 General Matchup: If you can get in, you can win. Neutral is really difficult and requires using tools you don't normally use. Fullscreen neutral: -Alternate (randomly) in between 5D and 2D Shishin if they play wild (fly around). -jC a lot -6B[m] a lot Midscreen neutral: -This is tough. . . -5B loses to both his normals -C attacks (5C, 2C, 3C) are all useful, but must be used wisely -Can't 5A his jC ever -Itsuu anti air is all right Valk's pressure: -IB the shoulder charge -Backstep 6C (gotta focus, but possible) -5A if he gets to wild in wolf pressure -If he has 50 meter, be wary of 2A and 5B Litchi's pressure: -Watch out for his CA. 2B, 2C both go under it. -He can't do much about 6D. -Watch out for his backstep midscreen.
GenoWhirl Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Just a tip, If we IB something and you do 3C we get a free 6C fatal
Lord Knight Posted November 26, 2010 Author Posted November 26, 2010 zzzz, everyone knows about how shitty 5c(2) > 3c is (unfortunately) that doesn't even exist in her real pressure, every character has a way to hop over that in pressure (even Litchi herself) :/
Nakkiel Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 This matchup feels pretty rough. Nothing to add at the moment, unfortunately.
mynus Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Lol ive been trying to figure this out for the past 2 months. Feels like Litchi's hardest match up by far. Basically what LK said. If you can get in, you can win. - Valk j.A (wolf), 2A (wolf) are pretty annoying. DP that shit. - Use j.2D to bait his godly 2C and 2B (wolf) and watch him get blown up for trying to AA you. If you have 50% thats 5K dmg for you rite there. - Watch your transition pressure between modes (placing staff in strings), any string at all in fact. If he IB's you and you continue a string he gets free ground KOF super. Use 5B in your strings to verify. Strings into overheads will get you murdered if he has meter. - 5D,D works surprisingly well for stopping random flying around in wolf mode and can get you in easily given you dont approach from the air. PS: shoutouts to fellow Panamanian Litchi players!

PS: shoutouts to fellow Panamanian Litchi players! On the ground for wolf-mode he only has 5A[w] and 5B[w]. 5B[w] is the head-invincible anti-air, which means it can and will beat j.2D when timed wrong (this also applies to 2C human..), so doing j.2D really isn't really something to think is free damage. 5B[w] also reaches the damn skies, so be careful with your height. I've had mixed success rates with this strategy, sometimes he recovers and just does 5B[w] again. This strat is more helpful with 2C though since it has more recovery on whiff, but be careful because it also has a giant hitbox. You should watch your transition pressure all the time anyways, this is pretty universal advice as it's always potentially dangerous. Same with watching out for super, it's like watching out for Inferno Divider so treat it as such when he has 50%. The ground super startup is 10~ frames. 5D launch does work fairly well although the reward of knocking him out of wolf-mode when he's high in the air is pretty much nothing unless you land a combo off of it. I find that 5[D] and manually launch it when he tries to close in is stronger and is more likely to CH him. The threat of having this ready to launch + 5A AA which works fairly well most of the time can be a great defense against him. And LK's post is pretty right for Valk being a new character. j.C[m] and 6B[m] are really helpful in this match. Edited November 30, 2010 by sG
Lord Knight Posted November 30, 2010 Author Posted November 30, 2010 If they play wild, shishin is a GREAT tool to keep them from frolicking around mindlessly. If they are more conservative, 5d is fine. C button is good in this match, period.
Nakkiel Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Ah, yes I forgot to mention Shishin. I didn't use it much the last couple times I played a Valk since I don't use the move terribly often but it definitely does it's job in this match.
