This is, for the most part, what I was trying to tell you at NEC, Mac. Nothing she has is legit safe against Haku.

Yeah, I just have a long ingrained habit of pretty much blocking out everything out rather than trying to mash out of a move, unless I've become very comfortable with fighting the character. There's something satisfying about completely reading the opponent's blockstrings and having them throw everything they have at you and end up flailing uselessly. What I rely on to break pressure is counters instead, but that requires getting used to what they're throwing out.

I do need to try and interrupt some moves though, like her 6B. I just don't react fast enough right now.

Actually I could probably j.D it...

I was punishing 3C more last time we played though. I'm still used to looking out for her CT stuff.

IB any normal and you can pretty much D counter it. Noel dares continue a blocked drive? D or any fast normal. Did you see how I was trying to play against Alzarath? I think I used 2D maybe 3 times in the entire set. Instead I take the very uphill battle of playing footsies against Haku. That's how much I've been raped by Hakumens since CS started. As dumb as it sounds for a Noel to say, I try to avoid Drive moves in this matchup as much as possible.

Press buttons, your character will own Noel as long as you're not sitting there swinging mindlessly enough for Noel to mindlessly 5D through. Promise.

Also - Haku's jD is so dumb haha

Yeah, I saw how Alz would slowly 2A you, that way he could react to a drive instead of already being committed to something. I definitely noticed how you were playing much differently, and could tell it was because of conditioning. The only question is how he conditioned you since my opponent isn't automatically going to start off in that state; I have to lead them there, and if I can't then they are going to be able to do a lot more.

One problem, I suck at IBing. Unless it's Tager, lewl.

I really need to record a few matches. :P

Right now I tend to counter the 5Ds and 2Ds when I can, but with 5D, which is his slow and uncomboable counter. I bet if I replaced it with j.D (4.5k damage instead of 1.5k) it would change things a bit.

Also you were doing pretty good against Alzarath.

Anyway, I'll work on implementing your advice.

Right off the bat you are kinda showing the wrong mentality for this matchup. Take a step back and realize that 1) Noel's offense is utter trash and 2) Hakumen is a brick wall of defense. A Noel that has experienced this matchup should (generally) be conditioned to what your character can do to her. If they try it, you just need one punish to get them shaken up.

That right there should tell you how to play this matchup, to an extent. Make Noel come to you. She can't invul though anything if you're blocking. You gain meter by doing nothing. Meter you can then use for TK Tsubaki, Hotaru and other really good attacks. By not doing anything but gaining meter, a Noel player should already fear you. Punish the eventual overhead or just block it and now you'll really have them scared. Teching the grab might be a pain online but since there is no reason to barrier against Noel, just over your fingers over BC. Use that along with the "push a button while she's attempting something" tactic and you'll be doing just fine against your average NetNoel.
