OMGitzLKtatsu Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Everyone is great to talk to, you just got to throw yourself out there! And he never really said that, he said that he wanted the main focus to be SF, everything else like casuals, side tourneys, etc. are all still fair game!
Ctrlaltwtf Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 (edited) To clarify my stance, I'm interested as long as we can do our anime stuff. The post made it seem very much just like a SF casuals/tournie is all. Some guy even asks him about other games and he replies with something to the effect of "for now I'd like to keep it at SF" I'm willing to contribute to the venue fee if we can set up our anime stuff. I'm hoping to get a portable stream setup soon. Very importantly though, don't mark me as someone interested in entering the SF tournament to contribute to the venue fee (he was asking for a headcount for that). If it's sometime this winter season its extremely unlikely I'll even be able to go anyway. Edited October 11, 2013 by Ctrlaltwtf
SaikoXeon Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 The invitation is pretty much open season for just about any game, it's a matter of showing up and bringing our set ups and what not. It's really paying a venue fee to have space when they also use it. At least, to my understanding. A portable stream set up would be hype, I don't know jack about streaming though so I really can't help out with a lot other than to get on a mic and yell and stuff. Depending on head count we may be able to get away with a smaller venue fee or anything else depending on how things go down.
Sharakonta Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Thats part of the reason I need a new laptop so I can stream shit from other places Sent from the NOL Intelligence Department
Nemesis Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 mmm.... Ive heard quite a great deal about SF and cap players flamming anime players which makes me reluctant to want to attend, FGC has a great deal of "you play this game? your a loser/scrub/gtfo" Im not against giving... some ppl, the benefit of the doubt however... who knows... ill think about it
Ctrlaltwtf Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Ive heard quite a great deal about SF and cap players flamming anime players which makes me reluctant to want to attend This is basically my reason for reluctance as well. I tried getting into the SRK forums for the UT FGC and the response was pretty much "lolanime" Who knows. I've learned first hand and first-person that people are friendlier IRL than online.
mAc Chaos Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Who knows. I've learned first hand and first-person that people are friendlier IRL than online. greatest disappointment of the year
SaikoXeon Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 I'd like for everyone to give it a shot. There will always be people who try to reject anime, I just stopped giving a fuck and played my game. We should learn from them and try to actually appreciate what they plan and be open to people wanting to learn our games.

OMGitzLKtatsu Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Alright, the main thing about people 'rejecting anime games' in the FGC is due mostly in part that a good deal of people who are ambassadors to their selective games are... well, obscenely weeaboo that people can't help but think, 'What the hell is going on with their thought process right now?' That's generally about it. If you make an effort to get to know people, play games with everyone and just not keep to yourself so much no one will have a problem with you. I'm gonna be completely honest and say that the biggest gripe with anime players is that they all just kinda stay within their own clique of people, (IE other anime players), and everyone just assumes that they don't want anything to do them, so, in return they won't want anything to do with you. Just be sociable, don't come off as flamboyantly weeb and no one will have a problem with you. Goddamn, at least everyone in the fucking state watches anime whether they like to admit or not, they're just more closeted about it. Gus, (he's gotten 9th place at Evo in AE, competed in Japan in SBO, and is an all-around good fighting game player), fucking loves P4U and is REALLY, REALLY GOOD at it. Obviously, if you met him, he wouldn't seem like someone who would be, but looks are deceiving. TL;DR: Come to the events, make friends with people, play and enjoy your game and don't come off as 'That Guy That Plays Anime Fighters and Thinks We're All Fucking Normies Just Because We Poke Jabs at Anime'. Everyone is nice when you get to know them and no one is going to bully you.
Ctrlaltwtf Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 (edited) I'm more than willing to give it a shot lol so long as we can do our thing with our own setups. As I've mentioned before though it's probably all moot cuz I won't be able to get the time off to go anyway (unless this is planned for like, WAY far in the future). I've already done a bunch of leave requests for our 10/31 and upcoming Thanksgiving stuff. I'm pretty much done making requests til 2014. Can someone give me a link to this venue btw? Regardless of whether or not we do this tournie thing it'd be great to have the venue info for future stuff. And I already know looks are deceiving; Nemesis looks like he could be a fucking bank manager or something and he buys lewd mu stuff. Edited October 12, 2013 by Ctrlaltwtf
OMGitzLKtatsu Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Venue link hasn't been posted, to my knowledge.
SaikoXeon Posted October 12, 2013 Author Posted October 12, 2013 My mind was still blown when I meet Nemesis for the first time. Glad to see we're making progress here guys. Like I'll probably say a million times, I fuckin' love you guys (no homo). I love that you guys are willing to raise concerns and address them, no ego whatsoever, can't wait for the 31st.

Ya meeting Nemesis for the first time was just "Wait, the first time we run into another from Utah... Is at EVO. DA FUCK?!"
SaikoXeon Posted October 14, 2013 Author Posted October 14, 2013 This thread has been unactive recently. So I'll do this. On the 31st, we should either do a pot luck or meet up and then go to a nice place OR meet up at a nice place then go to Shars.

I was planning on potluck style of junk food and semi-junk food for stuff. Like chips & salsa etc. I will be so hyped for CP casuals I don't wanna spend too much time eating out or anything. We can be all social and stuff while we're beating each other up in CP, that's my opinion. If Shar's willing to cook it and cut it up I'm willing to bring gigantic Papa Murphy's pizzas. I'm willing to do half-and-halfs and a maximum of 3 pizzas (family size). They each take roughly 10~15 minutes to cook, just FYI.
Nemesis Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 (edited) Pepperoni jalapenos and ham are my favorites I've been rely busy lately in heber but you know I'm willing to contribute and second to ctrl srsly lets rock out cp like no ones business and kick ass Edited October 15, 2013 by Nemesis
Nemesis Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 seriously speaking tho I expect pretty fantastic performance from you guys in CP -- I wana feel like I need to pull out all the stops and utilize every stupid trick, oki,, call out, yomi, and noob tactic to win. If we can really press ourselves and (omg plz) enjoy some 3-4 man 4bar rooms ...we are gonna stomp the hopes and dreams of the vast majority of players
SaikoXeon Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 I am down. I shouldn't really be having any more major changes in character picks for CP whilst learning other characters. I really think we should start pushing for getting better and if we do, being so close together will help out a lot. I think we should call out in DL / Twitter if we get a room going or asking for interest.
Nemesis Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Ive been and will continue to be active (since evo) up till CP release, in which itll prbly be the only game I play... I know you have issues with characters that emotionally resonate with you but I would press upon you to continue to build up mastery and general skills pre-cp I dunno if you ever watch Naruto but major skill shifts in your current abilities might reveal themselves unexpectedly during slump periods like Sasuke awakening his Sharingan your improvements, no matter how general, will lead you to the same end : " I can see it ! " mentality... which is really exhilarating
SaikoXeon Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 I've worked on fundamentals a lot since EVO, at least off and on. I think I'll finally have a character to stick with for a long time at last. Despite how shit I think Naruto is, I see where you're coming from. I haven't had that feeling in a long time, but I have a feeling once I break into some new stuff and start playing more I'll get that again. It's a good mental stimulation and pretty addicting.
