SolxBaiken Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 Look forward to English Heart punches next month!
Gravelneed Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 As one the few people who mains Dorothy, I updated lots of info for her combos on the AH3 wiki. http://arcana.mizuumi.net/wiki/Dorothy_Albright#Combos So for anyone who cares, take a look.

This just makes me even more frustrated that I won't ever be able to own the game.

Ooh, that's a lot more than I remember. I'm getting back to this game when it comes out in America, and there will be people online that I can beat for a couple days. Really, I mean it....
MIRACLEfool Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Yo, Ive been thinking of getting this game and stripping my skeptic look of it, tell me does this game have more to it than its practically all female cast and obvious fanservice material?
SolxBaiken Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 *sigh* Yes there is far more to Arcana Heart than your preconceived notions lead it to believe. It's a deep fighter with alot of options, I can explain x feature and y character but really the only one who can convince you is you, watch videos if that doesn't give you an idea then I'm sorry to say nothing short of playing it for yourself can get you any further to playing it. I don't know exactly what you want to hear...there are 23 completely different characters that get even more diverse when you pair them with one of the 23 just as different Arcana (think like a partner). It's you typical 2D fighter but what unique is the air dashing system, in this game there is a "Homing" button which jets you toward your opponent, you have full control over your moments and a variety of different ways to use and implement it (air homing, ground homing, homing cancel, etc). The only thing this game lacks is a huge user base, outside of Japan the series isn't known to well and it's mainly because of people like you (or rather they way you look at it). Don't judge a book by it's cover, the game comes out next month for a STEAL at $29.99, really you can't loose by picking it up, unless you don't plan on playing it. EDIT - Damn it Circ XD
Mightfo Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Yo, Ive been thinking of getting this game and stripping my skeptic look of it, tell me does this game have more to it than its practically all female cast and obvious fanservice material? what do you think we're gonna answer? "no it's shit i just play it to fap" character movesets themselves are quite good arcana system is fantastic, use that for enhancing zoning/pressure/mobility/defense/character-arcana specific setups/counterpicking or whatever clashing is a huge part of the game and not just the border between whiffing and trading, very nice system you can home with different arcs when holding different directions meter is very generous since meter goes on cooldown instead of being used, supers are more like EX moves in a way because of that game is balanced despite(perhaps because of) arcana system
Devdan Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 I still have yet to see a negative opinion of the game from someone who has actually played it. Makes me curious about what Famitsu's problem with it was...oh wait, professional reviewers, I'm not curious at all. Does it actually come out next month? I haven't seen that anywhere aside from some random post on GameFAQs where some guy said it was coming out Apirl 5th, which isn't even a Tuesday.

Devdan Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Haha, was looking at the wrong month. Ok, that aside, has that actually been stated anywhere officially. It's bad timing for me, but I'd really like to support the release even though I spent $90 importing it...
Circuitous Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 The only official statement is "shooting for early April." EDIT - Damn it Circ XD =3c
MIRACLEfool Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 thank you gentlemen that is all i needed to know
Mightfo Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I feel like it won't be April 5th like a bunch of sites stated, considering it looks like there's no official date yet. Week after, maybe? I'll probably buy it to support the release, or at least buy for a friend.
omegaryuji Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 The first time I heard about Arcana Heart, my mind linked it with Queen of Heart 98, inspiring apathy. Then, when I actually saw some AH3 on a stream, it got me a bit interested. Now, having spent some time on the wiki, I'm really looking forward to this (waiting on the PSN release, since I might as well, at this point). Anyway, the real point of this post is to ask for some suggestions on who to try out, because frankly, almost the whole cast looks interesting (just not Maori or Nazuna, since they remind me of Mizuki and the petting zoo kunoichis from SamSho, all of whom I hate, and not Kira, because she kind of creeps me out, and not Eko, because little kids are annoying *laughs* ). I typically like aggressive space-controlling characters (MvC2 Blackheart, Ralf, Sagat) (not passive/reactive ones like Dhalsim), oki-pokie characters (3S Urien, GG Testament, Yamazaki), and characters with simple-yet-versatile movesets (3S Urien, VSav Felicia, Geese Howard). I'm fine with rushdown as well, but I would like to have some mid/long-range flexibility as well (like Hazama, I guess). Definitely do not want someone with a ton of moves to keep sorted out like BB Carl or MvC3 Dante, because my mind simply can't handle that burden anymore *laughs* . So far, it seems like Sharl, Cathy, Akane, and Fiona are the most appealing, but Elza, Saki, Petra, Lilica, and Angelia all look cool, too *laughs* . Zenia and Liese also seem interesting, but I get the feeling that they'll be too complicated for me (especially Liese, since she's the resident doll user, and I couldn't even use Zato-1 well, no matter how much I tried, which sucks since she has the coolest picture on the wiki *laughs* ). Yes, I know that I should probably just try them all out and pick out the 2-3 that I like the most, but just having some input from people who actually have the game would be appreciated, since it's hard for me to tell too much from watching videos when I haven't played any of the AH games before.

Kujikawa Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 So HMV bumped up the price of Arcana Heart 3 from £17.99 ($28.87) to £34.99 ($56.15), they also added the Xbox 360 version (Originally they only had the PS3 version). However they still have it under the genre 'RPG' :S Its also a bit strange that I can only seem to find it being sold there, and I guess Zen's store as well. http://hmv.com/hmvweb/simpleMultiSearch.do?searchUID=&pGroupID=0&adultFlag=false&simpleSearchString=arcana+heart+3&primaryID=0
Gravelneed Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 (edited) Examu blog says something new with Arcana Heart is coming soon. Not sure if they mean it though. Could it possibly be Arcana Heart 4 or an update? Google Translate: "In the time of past, there is only ghost beginning." Does anyone know what this could mean? Edited April 1, 2011 by Gravelneed
bbq sauce Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Zenia is not a hard character lol.. She's anime Dudley. Only thing I could be really considered "hard" about her is timing gold edins. But, it gives you a bar for that.
SolxBaiken Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 *sighs* I'm still waiting on my console/portable port of Card of Glory ; A; I wanna play my AH as children's card game! And a proper AH3 expansions (like Full and Suggoi before it) wouldn't surprise me but would definitely make me happy, it'll be interesting to see just how much more they could stuff into this game because like every base is already covered XD Also just be like me and play Kamui, B>C>Super ALL DAY! XD I heard there were other buttons and combos but those are just rumors (no Kamui's awesome I don't care what anyone says!) But if you pick up the game I recommend playing each character at least once as you may be surprised at who you like playing, same goes for the Arcana.
omegaryuji Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 So Sharl would fit me, huh? Thanks for the feedback. Zenia is not a hard character lol.. She's anime Dudley. Only thing I could be really considered "hard" about her is timing gold edins. But, it gives you a bar for that. I thought Dudley was supposed to be hard, with his links and shit *laughs* . Never played him, though, since dat 'stache can't compare to dat thong, so maybe it was all exaggeration. Also just be like me and play Kamui, B>C>Super ALL DAY! XD I heard there were other buttons and combos but those are just rumors (no Kamui's awesome I don't care what anyone says!) But if you pick up the game I recommend playing each character at least once as you may be surprised at who you like playing, same goes for the Arcana. Yeah, I will try to play around with most of the characters/arcana at some point, but I was just looking for a little push in the right direction. Kamui...well, she was actually one of the first characters I saw, and my thoughts went something like this: Oh, it's sort of like a female Ukyo. Sounds cool. Hey, she even seems to have good range on her sword attacks, just like Genryu would with his drying pole. Sweet. Hmmm, no tuberculosis, though, but I guess that's not so bad. No firebirds either? Well, at least she has her greasy super, so whatever. Wait, no chopping apples? Back to the rest of the pack you go, girly *laughs* Nah, really though, like 80% of the characters look interesting in some way or another. Probably one of the coolest casts overall outside of GG.
Tsuki Garyuu Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 So I feel like I could use a recommendation on Arcana. I plan to main Zenia, so which Arcana gives her long range priorities or anything that could, say, keep the opponent from trying to counterattack so I can continue my rushdown? I'm guessing the Lightning one works well.
SolxBaiken Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Kamui is like the result if Baiken and (heaven or hell forbid) Johnny had a love child: - She has a Mist Finer that can be delayed and charged and it can turn level 3 for free (when you delay it you can mash any of the 3 directions and upon release of when the maximum amount of delay is up she slash in all inputs) - She has a Yozansen which makes a great air-to-air move and can even be done low to the ground for an overhead - She arguably has the shortest combos in the game but they deal great amounts of damage which is why you'll always hear B>C>Super because if you connect C, which has ridiculously good range, you are ALWAYS guaranteed a connect with her ground super - Her air super can be a great air combo ender and if used wisely you can bait your opponent and land it as anti-wakeup - She has a charge input projectile, a slide dash (which in 3 sadly hits mid but brings your body down pretty low) and counters that can be applied to any of the three directions and preformed in the air - Also a little bit of Jam got in her as she can power up any of her specials for greater effect (though be cautioned this is at the cost of some health!)
Locke Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 I spent all day reading the FAQ, watching videos, and cleaning my flooded hallway after my toilet died. Anyway, I REALLY want this game for 360, but I can wait for an American release because I don't really have the money to import it. Most of the characters looked nice, and creative, but Petra caught my attention. Hopefully, I'll wind up maining her when/if I get this game.
Circuitous Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 There won't be an American 360 release, and the 360 is region-locked so a Japanese version wouldn't work anyway. Only hope of a 360 release is Zen United magically deciding to do a region-free release and importing from them.
