Ichipoo Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Bleh, I'm a bit tight on cash since I've spent a majority of my money on gifts for friends and family so I guess I'm going to have to wait til February like all the other people who can't order online yet due to the various reasons. But it should go without saying that the next meetup will be Extend then?

I won't be back until tomorrow night, so I won't be able to make it this week as well >_< I didn't get extend either, because apparently the 360 version isn't very popular here, so no one has it in stock e_e. You actually have to order it and wait 1-2 weeks for the shops to get it, and the price was a little prohibitive too. I think I'll just wait for the US release... I'll try to have a PS3 controller by our next meetup.

Wild Wallice Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Ok, so I'll be back as of Sunday evening, and yes plan is to have the next session at my place. I see we've got a another new person so thats awesome. PM me for my address if you plan on coming and I'll get back to you. Current plan is from 5 PM to 10 PM like before. However, my schedule is pretty different this year. I have absolutely nothing for Friday so we can start earlier if people are free at an earlier time on Fridays. Wednesday is also completely open for me, but for the time being I'm not available on that day, we'll see what happens. Hope you guys have enjoyed the break and are ready to get into Extend!

This year they don't have BB as a headline tournament, but I contacted them and they said they'll help set one up if 16 or so people show up for BB, and they'll some supply some prizes too. Here's the Facebook event page. I'm already bringing like 3 or 4 of my friends with me. You guys usually meet up around the upper area of SD, right? My BB-bros live in southern SD but I think I'll start showing up to the meetups every now and then, because damn it's hard to find BB players at UCSD.

And Watermelonz, I live in Chula Vista, I don't think I can get any more "souther" than that, anyway if you're willing, we could have "mini" sessions at your place just for those of us who live south. And it's safe to assume that instead of a meetup at someone's house this Friday, we'll be at UCSD then?
Wild Wallice Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Ugh, looks like I'm gonna need to make a facebook to keep up to date with stuff thats going on now. Anyway, a couple of points: 1. Watermelonz, I actually go to UCSD so thats +1 to people who play BB at UCSD. I've looked to see if there were any gaming clubs or whatever, and all I could find was the sixth college technical club or whatever it is that has random gaming sessions in the Sixth college lounge. Since it seemed like all they did was play random games and not dedicated Blazblue or even any other kind of fighter, I never bothered pursuing that further. If there are any kind of regular events or get-togethers on campus, hit me up. I will probably be able to make it to at least a few of them. 2. I remember talking about Winter Games Fest before but when I saw that it wasn't gonna have BB on the lineup I never bothered bringing it up again. I've actually made plans for Saturday so I won't be able to attend this BB tournament if it materializes UNLESS it is on FRIDAY. And if that happens then there will be NO MEETUP, since I will not only be going to the tournament but bringing my setup to contribute as well. If we can nail down what day this is going to happen before Thursday evening that would be really great. 3. Shtkn, parking isn't free on weekdays no. The best place to get parking would be the parking structure located in the middle of campus near the library. Parking in the green spaces on the upper floors costs 8 dollars for a whole day, but thats better than 16 dollars for a day in white visitor spaces in other places that are further away. I'm guessing that the event will be held in the Price Center Ballroom like it was last year and the year before, and its a relatively easy walk from that parking structure to the Price Center. 4. We should probably start looking into an actual venue for our gatherings. I don't know how that would work out since I have no experience with renting places out or whatever, but recently we've seen our scene go from 4 regulars to a 5th who comes once in awhile, several more potentials and now 3-4 people in Watermelonz's crowd who might start showing up on a regular basis. I feel like my apartment won't have enough room for all these people and/or setups, and soon maybe Shtkn's place won't either. Not something we need to get on right away but we might want to start considering before it becomes an issue.
shtkn Posted January 11, 2012 Author Posted January 11, 2012 are you talking about gilman parking structure or another one? my ucsd geography ended at around 2006 when i graduated. as for alternative hosting locations... yeah i honestly never thought having too many ppl would be an issue we'd face but i think i can ask a friend about where they host tournaments in sd. no idea about cost/availability though...

Watermelonz Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Okay, so I got asked the guys from Winter Game Fest and here's how they explained the specifics to me: There's going to be a large free-play section where people can play all sorts of games, and people can bring their own consoles, games, etc. And if a certain game gets enough players, with about 16 people or so, they'll help set up a tournament for it on the spot. So basically, what I'm going to do is bring my setup to the event and just hope BB players show up. If 16 people show up, awesome we can have a tourney. If there's not enough people, then oh well no big deal we can still play BB and meet new players and treat it as a casual gathering. I think that if we choose a day that's best for us and all show up on that day, we'll get probably get enough players. I'm expecting Sunday will have the highest concentration of BB players, since my BB friends are most likely attending on that day. Oh and Ichipoo, I live right next to the 905 freeway, so yea I'm pretty far down there.

And if the BB event @ Winter Game Fest is NOT on a Friday, then is there still a meetup at one of your guys' houses? Sorry for the questions, just want to make sure. Oh and Watermelonz, I don't think it sounds that far. I live in the Otay area btw. Anyway again, if you want to have a southern BB meetup, just hit me up.
