I haven't really read up on the nuances of brave and critical edges, but seeing long gameplay footage showed that they work smoothly. I was afraid that adding "supers" in Soul Calibur would make it gimmicky (much like the guest characters), but the devs did a very nice job on making it fit. However, this adds more balance issues. A brave edge that is easily hit-confirmable and can ringout from afar needs to be looked at carefully. As for the ship levels, I've always liked those. Throwing opponent's overboard in the ______ water is a blast. Cass/Soph levels also stand out. Lizardman's lair was hilarious in SC4. Giant lizards holding giant utensils...

I like that seasoning ____ they put on fries at Pyramid Cafe, I really do. Ketchup is sometimes. I've been known to use mayOnnaise. At one time I blended ketchup and mayonnaise together and it was surprisingly good. @Astaroth: I agree. Im afraid of critical edges, too. Patroklus has one that rings out to the front and doesn't look air controllable even if it's the second hit like normal and he can do it in a launched opponent as low as knee height. It's cool and he looks like a boss doing it, I'm just worried about the ease of access to a time-stopping, AC-defying ring out. On that note, I think anything that launches/relaunches laying down opponents is BS. Delicious BS, but such nonetheless. Astaroth BS tackle charge launching techrollers with complete tracking makes me shove foreign objects into my anus and go HHHHHNNNNNNGGGGGGG

So the next tournament is going to have to be inside the arcade and venue fees will be reduced accordingly, but That pretty much forces me to cancel Melee. However, to make up: I'll waive all the venue fees of smash players that show up for October's tournament. Apologies, everyone, this is not my fault. All times and rules remain the same; Melee is removed from September's event lineup.

Having tournaments in Game Galaxy has always felt cramped to me, and since they're inevitably going to be moving more machines into the arcade, we're probably looking at less space than ever before. Consequently, there's no way we're going to have room for as many T.V.'s as we're used to, which is few as it is. Factor in all the noise of arcade machines (which is distracting on top of screwing with any possible commentary), the lack of privacy, the absence of chairs (or, rather, room for them), and the deficiency of a 720p T.V. for decent recording and it just isn't the same. I'm all up for supporting Game Galaxy and the arcade scene in general, but it might be time to think about a venue change Milln. I'm expecting accommodations in the arcade to be the worst they've ever been. I'm not saying it's something that ABSOLUTELY needs to happen since I'm not sure if anyone else feels the same way, and there haven't been any tournaments since the machines were moved back, so it's hard to tell exactly how bad it'll be. It's just something I'd like you to consider.

Don't hurt me Melee players Anyway, I'm probably not going to be able to make this one buuuuuut I do know that the arcade tends to be cramped.. I dunno about going extreme and finding a new venue like Jackie said, but if we constantly have to hold the tournaments inside the 'cade it's gonna get really.. annoying and troublesome other words that describe unpleasantness. Last Saturday, AE had 32 people, MK had 12, and Marvel had about 18. I walked outside a few times just to get some air. It won't be too bad, but it certainly will be different.
Jackie Chandler Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Star- Unless you mean the Viewlix, no- I've personally talked to the owner of the arcade via e-mail about the possibility of a CSII arcade machine and he shot me down. He said that the CT machine didn't really draw in much of a crowd and that's why they sold it, but if I wanted to split the bill and have a revenue split then we could talk. Obviously I couldn't do that, being a college student and all. I have enough trouble saving money to make it up to MTN's as it is. XD Astaroth- AE can't be too bad because they have the whole front of the arcade and two sides to watch/play from with the cabinets. MK has an arcade machine too, although I'm not sure if it's used for tournaments since I don't know if updates are available for it. And while Marvel is probably a good comparison for the BB scene, it isn't a contest to see which scene can be the most uncomfortable. Maybe I'm just not good with large crowds or something. I don't know how you handled that last week, Astaroth. :P

I've been to many tournaments in the arcade, so I guess I'm used to it by now. The thing that bothers me the most is that some of the arcade machines are too loud, so you have to yell if you're standing near the loud ones. The other thing that I find stupid is when people walk around the arcade with a big-ass backpack on their back. Set it down in the corner or something instead of killing everyone around you.
