Jackie Chandler Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 For the longest time I thought Jackie'd only uploaded two KOF videos. Then I looked closely and saw two more. Ha! To reiterate, the video labeled "??? vs ???" is apparently Sarah vs Andrew, based on Negro Justice's commentary in the vid. Just in case you didn't notice. I hate watching myself play. I see all the stupid shit I do and go "why did you do that?!??!" Accursed tournament nerves. Usually I'm not so nervous that I flub combos. lol. And SC5 is great fun. It's weird as hell cuz I'm not used to 3d fighting, but cool. Diggin Patroklos and Yoshimitsu. Patroklos's voice actor voiced Yosuke in Persona 4, which is very weird for me. I keep expecting Pat to shout "Persona!" and shoot garu at someone. ~_~ Oops, thanks for bringing that to my attention. I'm turrible. Also, Yuri Lowenthal's a pretty well-known VA. He's the voice of Sasuke from Naruto, Simon from Gurren Lagann, Luke from Tales of the Abyss, etc. If I close my eyes while he's being played, I can imagine him doing any number of things, including piercing the heavens with his Justice Drill. *Suddenly has the urge to learn Patroklos* Oh, and Volpe, I found this KoF tier list by The Answer, B.A.L.A., and Romance. I have newfound respect for your perseverance. http://www.mmcafe.com/tiermaker/kof13/index.html#ya0-trjm2yn82xb74ni16j8l6ld64ne787pg5nlp8d506ole4mjv6jjs8d6p6mhw4ogb4rex32lr6ilg2xcb6jg86kah8c994o5pjycb8anb4ppj7fjm4pnl6ghy8cad6ke76jd32y9c2z7c4qb62y-bk6
LastStarSaviour Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 EXTEND IN TWO MORE DAYS!!! GET HYPE MOTHA FUCKAS!!!!! @Jackie: Damn....enough said
Milln Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 (edited) EXTEND IN TWO MORE DAYS!!! GET HYPE What's that? @Rules/etc: I'll post when I get home. @Tier List: it's a joke and an opinion. Kula and King being on the bottom is glaring. Edited February 12, 2012 by Milln
LastStarSaviour Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 @Milln: The game I sold Kof13 for, that's what.
Alphakami Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Good shit Yesterday Lee. I don't know what more of you don't come. I played lots of KoF yesterday. Missed the tournament, but casuals were easy. SCV casuals were begging to be played, on the fuggin' mega TV.
Seiki Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 It KILLLSSS ME that I live 5 minutes from game galaxy yet I never have the opportunity to go because of work and school. I'm going to try to change my work schedule so that I have friday and saturday off (which is going to be really hard to do).
Alphakami Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 When do you get off? After the arcade, there was dinner, and then off to someones house to play more games (and smoke) you got a curfew?
Seiki Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 I don't have a curfew. Didn't think anything goes on afterwards.
Milln Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 SoulCal rules are probably going to be close to what Astaroth described, maybe with a tweak here or there. Volpe come over and play KOF with me and we'll work on your swagger, man. LONG TRAINING SESSIONS WITH MILLN SENSEI. IS YOUR BODY READY FOR THIS?? Star: Oh. I see. I don't know how I feel about this. Jackie: I don't know how I feel about this. Papstr: IDKHIFAT Naimat: Something always goes on after an event, be it casuals, food, or both. @ALL OF YOU: You guys need to go to more Game Galaxy tournaments, guys, especially if you are taking your games seriously. I am not the only TO around that throws tournaments for King of Fighters, UMarvel3 and Soul Calibur 5. There was a potentially good tournament just this past Saturday that you all missed the boat on. 2012 is the year of mingling. Mingling starts with THE MIDDLE TENNESSEE AREA. Street Fighter is the only game you don't play, and BlazBlue is the only game they don't play. There's overlap in everything else. I'll be pushing you all to stop staying at home. @Anyone who it may concern: I think I need to... like... only play one fighting game. I barely have time for one, let alone two. I am too busy, too tired, and have too much to worry about to try to keep my skill up in two intricate fighters. I may have to secede from the tournament scene(Not competitive gaming, just entering tournaments) completely. Or change jobs.

I am too busy, too tired, and have too much to worry about to try to keep my skill up in two intricate fighters. I may have to secede from the tournament scene(Not competitive gaming, just entering tournaments) completely. I have the same problem. Blazblue sparked my interest in the fighting game genre, and I want to be able to practice and get decent at everything else simultaneously, but it's simply not realistic. If I were you, I would just focus on one fighter at a time. Think about which game you'd have the most fun learning/playing and make that your first priority. Get to a point where you feel you've reasonably improved/hit the next level/become consistent/whatever, and then decide if you want to try and get good at something else too. Rinse, repeat. But that's just my advice. You can go about it however you like. Or change jobs. I don't know how I feel about this.
Papstr Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 My lack of attending random events that go on is ALL JACKIE'S FAULT CUZ.... HE'S LIKE, GOT A CAR AND I DON'T. OK.
Seiki Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 @Milln+Jackie: I'm in the same predicament but I really don't think your desire to get 1st in tourney should detract you from learning and enjoying other games. I would rather sacrifice my ability to place top so i can play other games I know I would enjoy playing. Do you value placing high more than playing games you love?
Papstr Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Do you value placing high more than playing games you love? YES MUST WIN ALWAYS NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGH
Jackie Chandler Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Do you value placing high more than playing games you love? I understand your point, but that's not what I was getting at. Milln's situation may be different, but for myself, I find it hard to enjoy competing in games I have little experience with- and right now, that's pretty much every fighting game that isn't Blazblue. I still have fun playing other fighting games casually at the moment... I just feel like I would have more fun if I could compete better in them.

In order to enjoy a game as you claim (that is, by being good at it) you gotta play! I have the exact same feeling too, so it's not somethin' just you suffer from. You gotta put time into a game so you gain the knowledge, and therefore, satisfaction, of playing. I think I used too many commas there.

XD But yeah, I agree. I'm feeling much better now, just in time for Test 1 week. Blah. I'll try to get some KoF practice in before this Friday, though. If you'll be free then, we can meet and KoF/SCV/Extend it up. Sorry to leave you hanging last week.

Don't worry about "leavin me hanging" as I passed the time by stomping faces in LoL anyway.
LuminAbyss Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 On the subject of many games at once, what I've done with Melty Blood and King of Fighters is first pick up basic things I need to know to be able to play matches, then I figured as time went on, I could try out things on the fly while playing against actual people (gimmicks, set-ups, blockstrings), and I just use my training mode time for combos and optimizing damage. If I don't have time to do that, then I don't worry about it, because I already have basics down to help me fight against real people. If that makes any sense. Juggling multiple games is always hard.
Klein Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 My signature describes how I feel on the matter :U and while I'm working on getting seriously into GG and soon BB again, I'm not gonna put too much thought in what game specific things I need to learn other than fairly basic combos and matchup knowledge. Then later, when I have basics down I'll slowly work more on advanced execution, mixups, setups, etc.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 (edited) @Miln Don't you remember? We're part of the Blazblue demographic. Broke ass students errwhere. I'd head up there more but I don't really have gas for that. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to make it down to Tad's eventually. On the topic of multiple games, I think I'm probably going to just focus on Guilty Gear and Blazblue like Klein and play Soul Calibur and KoF casually. The thing that confuses me about Leona being low tier is the randomness factor. I can ocv people with her repeatedly at times, then depending on the guessing game my opponent can easily turn it around. Tier seems to matter so much more in KoF than I'm used to. Maybe Blazblue spoiled me, but I definitely won't take Hakumen for granted anymore. Also @Naimat I get that Leona's low tier, but these issues pop up with a lot of other characters. That on top of hit box shenanigans make KoF an extremely frustrating game. Edited February 13, 2012 by Volpe-de-Glacio

Mr.Pickle Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I'm really on the fence about extend, I mean I really don't think its going to be enough to rekindle my interest in blazblue...like how many of you guys are actually going to buy it?
Jackie Chandler Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I've bought it twice. And I'd buy it a third time, too!
