Jackie Chandler Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Will do, Milln. Any details on the new venue, or if there are going to be any changes (like fee, line-ups, etc.)?
Papstr Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Isn't August 25th move in day for TTU? Though I guess that wouldn't effect you. Good news is, my financial issues seem to be on track to me getting to go back to school, just gotta get my ass in gear and focus. And find a way to push myself into classes here at the last second if possible. Bad news is, if that IS the move in day, then, well, dang.
Milln Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 It's the last Saturday of the month, like usual so it'd make sense if it were. Weekend, no classes. As far as I know, we're just waiting on electricity. Last I was there(2 weeks ago) they needed to put down a concrete flooring, too. Prolly gonna hold it in a separate game store building.
Milln Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 I'm surprised none of you are talking about the batman shooting in Colorado.
Urichinan Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I'm surprised none of you are talking about the batman shooting in Colorado. I actually came in here to see if you guys were talking about it. It's shocking.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I just hope he's a regular copycat and doesn't actually have Joker level plans.
LastStarSaviour Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) That was my initial fear at first, especially since they're currently writing him off as a simple nutcase who acted alone. However, the amount of access he had is stirring my mind to believe otherwise. Edit: I was refraining from talking about this subject mostly do to the fact there isn't much to talk about in terms of what actually happened. Now the mind-set behind it, we can spend forever speculating on that. Edited July 20, 2012 by LastStarSaviour
Starlight777 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I just hope he's a regular copycat and doesn't actually have Joker level plans. He doesn't, he was dumb enough to try this and not care about the consequences. I hope he doesn't encourage any other sociopaths to copy the same crime. Now that's a scary thought.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) That's the thing. He apparently had a massive armored vehicle that could carry a lot of people, and used it just to drive himself. Who says he's the only one on a Joker trip? When the end goal is to emulate a psychopath, I doubt any sort of plan made would revolve around the perpetrator going free. I hope he doesn't encourage any other sociopaths to copy the same crime. Now that's a scary thought. It probably is just an isolated incident but it's too early to rule out any possibilties, that's usually the type of mind-set that gets people taken by surprise in the first place. Not saying that he'll do something carefully elaborate as say Joker, but with the fact that he rigged his own apartment room, there's always a reason to be skeptical.
Milln Posted July 21, 2012 Author Posted July 21, 2012 If he dyed his hair red and said he was the Joker.... He was way off. Joker's hair is green. Dude sucks at being a bad guy. /off the cuff and insensitive

If one were to obsessively follow the Joker and study his various incarnations, who knows what kind of shit they'd want to achieve in his name. That's all I'm sayin'. Edit: There were apparently two shooters, and it seems like the armored vehicle was just a rumor. One's in custody and one's at large. Edited July 21, 2012 by Volpe-de-Glacio
Milln Posted July 21, 2012 Author Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) Link to a "second shooter" article, please. I've read at least seven and none of them mentioned anything like that. I'm pretty sure that dude didn't "get" the red hair from anything. Joker has green hair. Dude's a psychopath. Edited July 21, 2012 by Milln
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) No one's debating his mental problems, but it doesn't necessarily make him retarded -- he's clearly drawing inspiration from the Joker. If you'd paid attention to my post, you'd realize that there are multiple established personas of The Joker with orange hair, and though it's not an uncommon tactic, Joker having someone specifically make use of his identity and commit crimes so that he could spread chaos while still remaining free was one of his standbys. By most accounts the crime was intelligently planned and executed, and I'm guessing the man in custody was likely an easily manipulated person with mental issues. The events were broken down from police scanner transmissions, and the whole thing is on reddit. 1:49: Car, Tennesee plates, Hyundai, license [redacted]. third to west, in front of doors. Possible bomb. Main entrances of mall covered. Bomb squad moving in. 1:53: Canine units coordinating at SE entrance between JC Penney's and the food court. May be a bomb in there. Theory that bombs may be in front of theater. 1:55: New evidence for shooters. That's plural. Theater 8, the shooter was seated. One more was outside, went into Theater 9. Coordinated attack. Two shooters. Open door discovered at mall. Suspicion of bomb in there. 1:56: One shooter at large, one in custody. From Facebook: Someone set off some little party poppers in our theatre, next thing I know someone runs in and said there was a shooting. We huddled down into the seats because people were outside the exit. I was fortunate enough to get home safely with my sister but a few friends are still stuck there. 1:57: Due to bombs, police relocating all units to S of Dillard's. Open door was in Macy's. EDIT: Found the link. http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/wv4q2/someone_came_into_our_theater_at_the_midnight/c5gq9c0 As this is a recent event, the particulars will likely be muddled for some time, but it shouldn't take the hive-mind too long to sort out the facts. I've been working off of my phone most of the day, so I skim at best. Red is not orange, and i'm aware of Batman comic legacy. Reddit is interesting, thanks.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) The accounts differ on its status as red/orange, but honestly that's irrelevant. What matters is that he's emulating a sociopathic villain, was working with someone even worse than himself, and from what I'm reading was on his way to getting a PHD in neuroscience. This man was obviously intelligent, yet even he ended up becoming this "Joker's" chump. It could easily be a simple matter of two college kids emulating their fucked up hero and making plans to do some damage. I'm not denying that. I'm just saying there's a lot of dark cesspools where people with sick interests can gather - I wouldn't be surprised if this accomplice ended up manipulating others into continuing his symbolic rampage. Mmm. Here you go: mrbooze 35 points 11 hours agoThis is very common in situations like this. I remember the night of the 89 Loma Prieta earthquake, spending the night without power in my little room in the mountains a bit north of Salinas, listening to a "legitimate" news station. During the night there were reports of coastal towns being hit by tsunamis and large shopping malls collapsing. During those few hours of chaos every rumor, every misheard or misunderstood comment, was reported by panicky reporters as fact. Sometimes never corrected or mentioned again. And even if they were corrected later, maybe you the listener didn't have the radio when the correction was played, so you're still out there telling people about what you heard on the news. adremeaux 340 points 14 hours ago No, it's straight up timetables of reports. There are very few facts up there. Like this, for instance is a report: 1:55: New evidence for shooters. That's plural. Theater 8, the shooter was seated. One more was outside, went into Theater 9. Coordinated attack. Two shooters. Open door discovered at mall. Suspicion of bomb in there. alanpugh 40 points 13 hours ago This is how you get news as it develops. You have to use your brain to sift through the data as it comes in via social networks and news reports and gather what seems to be solid information, and revise as you learn more. yoyodude2007 5 points 12 hours ago he doesn't present anything as fact. this is just a stream of reports as they come in. that means use your judgement to sift through them
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) Yeah, I know. That's why I added that disclaimer; obviously the dust hasn't completely settled. But I've also read first-hand accounts of this second man leaving a wedge in the door or otherwise finding some way of keeping it open. Supposedly he either was an accomplice who then left, or one man who opened the door, left, and came back in through the door he left open in all his riot gear. This situation is a lot different, though. I'd put more stock into the police calling in their reports of evidence than random panicking reporters covering a natural disaster. Jackie Chandler Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) So I got my Cronus Device in the mail today. I totally forgot I ordered it, but I'm also surprised it came so soon. I'll let you guys know what I think of it as soon as I get the chance to try it out. EDIT: So I just tried it out. The good news: it works AMAZINGLY with my Xbox 360 controller on the PS3. Button presses come out with no lag at all, and inputs are spot-on (unlike my old converter). As far as I can tell, this thing is tournament viable for controller users like myself. The bad news: it didn't work with my Madcatz SE stick out of the box. There may be a way to program it or something, but assuming there is, I have no idea how to do it. I'll probably check the site and instructions tomorrow, and I'll keep you guys updated. Edited July 21, 2012 by Jackie Chandler

Volpe-de-Glacio Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 How is Batman's face so manly yet beardless?
Astaroth136 Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Where's Niggie Chandler with the official review of his new dongle thing? lol
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 (edited) He edited his post. EDIT: And I edited yours, because I fucking can. Edited July 22, 2012 by Alphakami
Astaroth136 Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Who edits their posts to update people? Anyway Chandler, can you test it on PS3 with a wireless 360 controller + charger?
