Arson Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 I still play. I don't practice it as much as Persona, definitely, but I still play and think about it. He thinks I don't practice Kof, but he also thinks I hate him, he also thinks i'm retarded. He doesn't have the ability to see what I do at all times, either. I practice by thinking of setups during the day, testing them out when I get home, and making sure I don't drop every combo ever. We play every once in a while, but it's him that initiates it since I only play three characters and he's voiced numerous times how boring that is for him. Hoowwweeevveerrrr, what I was saying about "legitimately not feeling okay with the game." is steadily rising. I really don't have a lot of love for HD mode. The respect I used to have for it isn't really there anymore. There's a couple other things in the game that I don't like, but the fun factor still outweighs all those things. Until it stops being fun, i'll keep playing it. That's really all that it is for me. I only like Mature, Duo Lon, and Kensou and even then not so much on Kensou. Maxima is fun be to silly with. I think you should just try other characters. The reason you don't like HD mode is because you're playing characters that really just aren't that good with it. Mature doesn't need it, Duo doesn't need it, and Kensou has a wonky weird HD combo thing, and he's also a shitty anchor. I started with Duo Lon, Ash and Elisabeth. I realized quickly that even though I like Ash as a character, he's the least fun ever to play, and too hard for me, especially for return. I don't like Duo Lon either, I only play him because he's good and people hate him. I started with those three and thought I'd never want to play anyone else, then I switched to Flayme Lori and Saiki, realized they were awesome and played them... but now I don't care for Saiki and prefer Claw over Flame. Claw is actually by far my favorite character in like ANY game.. and until months into the game, I didn't even notice he was in the game. I also put a ton of work into Kyo and loved him for a long time but now I'm not into him. I play Kim now and he's probably the scariest character on my team ( Shinblade thinks so, anyway ) and I never even considered him until a couple of months ago, I just messed with him because Reynald makes him look fun and now I wouldn't dream of playing a team in tournament without him.

I did try other characters, but alright I'll mess around again. Kensou is indeed balls as an achor, I just do gimmicks with him and they seem to work half the time. It's not that my characters don't have a use for HD Mode, it's really just because I don't like it. I understand that it's hype, and I understand that it uses a lot of resources. I don't enjoy that it lets you kill a character because the game turns into Marvel for a couple seconds.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Yosuke being able to glide. He says glitch, I say design oversight that opens up his options, just like wavedashing in melee. When you can destroy my maziodyne pseudo mix-up because you have the ability to punish from fullscreen, that's kind of dumb. Glitch, design oversight, they're all the same thing in the end and it'll hopefully get removed since they took it out of Blazblue.

Volpe-de-Glacio Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 (edited) Litchi and Carl could do it, or a variation of it. Edited September 11, 2012 by Volpe-de-Glacio
Seiki Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Chipp can also glide if you frc an alpha blade in the air. On Tekken: I'm gonna play it regardless if there is a scene for it here or not. I'm used to being part of a dead scene (blazblue). If I become passionate enough for the game I'll drive out to memphis and play with those naggers. If not, I'll just netplay if I have to.

Yeah I would like it less if it actually was Marvel, where I just do ABC like three times and you're dead. If you get hit and killed by an HD, you deserved that shit. It wasn't like you got hit with some crazy unblockable BS and killed with no effort. I like it because unlike in almost all of the other games I can think if, meter is actually -important-. In some matchups, as important as life.
Seiki Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Also, without HD mode the scale is hugely tipped in the other person's favor if they are leading in number of characters. It is a comeback mechanic balanced with a huge cost of losing a lot of resources on a single character. Meaning you are going to have to play extra solid after you use your HD and meter since you don't have all those resources that could help you get out of tough situations like invincible ex moves, Guard cancel blow back, etc. I do think HD is dumb when it comes down to both sides last character. Since the match can be decided by a single light attack into a 0 to death combo.

Its not like the whole game shifts because of HD, because that's usually not the case. Making a reverse OCV comeback is SO fucking hard, HD or no. ESPECIALLY to get to anchor vs anchor while having any meter. If you can kill the first two characters with your anchor and still have enough meter for a death combo, then you deserve to get that death combo because you've been outplaying your opponent to get yourself into that situation. HD usually just shifts the last round. If you use HD to kill the first or second character, it's almost always ( in a match between two equally skilled players ) going right back to even. You used all of your meter to get a leg up, but now they have a new character and a nice bit of meter, and know that a good portion of the damage they take, they will get back if they win quickly. And yeah, the game overall would be waayyyyy different and worse without HD. It would be slower, and the tier lists would be crazy different. The top tiers would all be even better and some characters would be practically worthless. To be fair, the game would obviously would be designed differently without HD mode... but I mean, this is definitely the most balanced KOF so far, so that should say something for the HD and drive systems.

That's fair though, since Chipp has to spend resources to use it. @Tekken - Same. If I like it, I'mma play it.
Seiki Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Hahaha Feng has a tag animation where he comes in on a nimbus cloud lol. And Baek can kick you like a soccer ball? Man I might play these two.
Klein Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Someone get on & play meh! Get on PSN and I'm in there.

Building meter for the big touch of death anchor tends to be the strat of choice, but I've noticed that even in higher level play, it's not necessarily the only viable option. Several characters get good damage off of drive without HD, such as Takuma, Joe, Kim, or Daimon. Given, people really love to show off the flashy stuff, steady use of drive also yields good returns; mainly because not letting the bar reach max means that you are always going to be building more. I like that the game gives you the freedom of choice in that regard. Deciding what to do with the meter is a big part of teambuilding, and I love how the game tends to reward every form of meter use.

Yeah, I meant to mention this. This sort of thinking is called the 'new school' I guess, but yeah, basically in this game people using anchors that aren't just good with meter. For example, Ex Iori is a great anchor because not only is his HD combo easy as shit, ( His most viable damaging one is to just activate, fireball, super and neomax ) he's also still good without meter. Kim is also an amazing anchor. Can turtle, is scary on offense, and has easy HD, and doesn't need much meter to hurt you.
Milln Posted September 12, 2012 Author Posted September 12, 2012 Yeah, that's another reason why I play the characters that I do. They don't really need HD mode at all. I understand that it uses resources, it's what I was lauding when the game came out. It's just that I steadily grew to not be a fan of that one mechanic. I'll poke around with Taco Del Lori. Both versions seem nifty and worth a second shot. Or I'll use Maxima and meatball sub everyone.
Milln Posted September 13, 2012 Author Posted September 13, 2012 I hate having roommates when all I want to do is play Persona online. Justin is always streaming anime -and- in a stupid video call on Skype, KO is actually not that bad, but sometimes he's playing League and he's often in a voice call on Skype. Fuggin' even 3 bar connections are unplayable. Lose matches you don't deserve to lose, Milln. Lose more. The only time I can play online is when nobody is home, which is never. F this, man. I can't do what I want to do because other people do what -they- want to do and I don't like being a punk, asking for them to stop engaging in their recreation. Expect text messages from me from now on asking if you want to play Persona. I will drive to your fuggin' house.
Seiki Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 I'm sure Justin can spare you an hour's worth of xbox live. If he can't not watch anime for an hour, he's livin dat sadlife and Imma buy him one of dem anime body pillows for his bday. Tell Matt to play a real fighting game.

It'll turn into an argument or i'll be chastised on how their usage doesn't affect my online fighting game's framerate and I really can't be arsed to deal with that. I hate arguing, i'm submissive, and don't like requesting people to stop doing things that they enjoy, even if it's so I can do something, myself.
Klein Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 i'm submissive Can someone photoshop Milln's hat onto a gimp suit?
Milln Posted September 13, 2012 Author Posted September 13, 2012 Can someone photoshop Milln's hat onto a egg and cheese croissant? Dude I love egg and cheese croissants.
