Milln Posted December 31, 2012 Author Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) Reposting for views. NEW YEARS. NEW YEARS. NEW YEARS. I'm hosting, unless we get like thirty-bajillion people. Games: Anything that anyone wants to bring, but stuff I already have here are: Persona, Battle Fantasia, Bomberman, Suguri, King of Fighters 13, Garou, Vampire, Psychic Force 2012, Tetris Attack, Art of Fighting 1, Bust-A-Move, Super Stardust, Pocket Fighter, Ehrgeiz, Star Gladiator. Featured games are Mario Tennis 64 and Munchkin. I definitely wanna play those two. We can even do doubles on Tennis. I'm off the entirety of both New Year's Eve and New Years Day so it starts at 10am December 31st, and ends 6am January 2nd. Everyone has to gtfo and go home by then. Entry Fee is the same as last year: Bring snacks, food, or drinks. Going to need consoles and televisions, too. I would also like to stream gameplay and stream the room, too. I'll let everyone know when it's up, but the stream will be www.twitch.tv/DPonWakeup and maybe Jackie's too. I'd like a list of confirmed and what you're bringing, if possible, please. ANYONE IS WELCOME, even out-of-staters if you feel you're not going to get in a car accident on the way over cause of New Year's drunk traffic. By the way, everyone on this list is guaranteed a Christmas Present. 1. Milln 2. Justin 3. Tad 4. Papstr 5. Kain - Melty Blood, Akatsuki Blitzkampf 6. Klein - Ps2 Guilty Gear 7. Naimat - 360 Guilty Gear, Xbox 360, (1) TV 8. Star - Melty Blood 9. Volpe - Ps3 with Skullgirls, Guilty Gear, SSFIVAE, Arcana Heart 3 10. Jackie 11. Minionman 12. Mellis 13. Ponder 14. Ragnarok 15. 16. Edited December 31, 2012 by Milln
Jackie Chandler Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) @SMP Talk: I thought the consensus was that SMP impacted the techable time so drastically, that it might as well be automatically techable. Besides, when the Sparring dummy is set to tech instantly in every other form of a non-combo, it's weird to think it wouldn't do so in the case of SMP (assuming it is, in fact, immediately techable). @New Year's: I'll be showing up with whoever's going (still need to figure that out... >_>) some time in the afternoon. My sleep schedule is sooooo fucked up, haha. Looking forward to seeing you guys there. :] EDIT: Oh yeah, and what I'm bringing: Xbox 360, Hauppauge/capture card, laptop (with Melty Blood/Akatsuki, should it not be being used for recording/streaming), 360 -> PS3 controller converter, all worthwhile 360 fightan' gaemz and Catherine, universal component cables, an HDMI cable, and (if I remember) a power strip. Woo. Edited December 31, 2012 by Jackie Chandler
Milln Posted December 31, 2012 Author Posted December 31, 2012 YO. Everyone. On New Year's Day, we're all going to breakfast at this awesome place called Farmer's. It's a great buffet so bring some money if you were planning on leaving your wallets at home for some reason. As if you were scared to money match me in Mario Tennis 64.
Top_Cat Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I'm not going to be there tomorrow. I'm sick
Jackie Chandler Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I have time traveling powers and I'm still hung over from tomorrow's New Year's celebration. Sorry to hear that, Midnight. Get better soon.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Yo. I'm bringing a laptop with Melty Blood on it too, and added 3rd Strike as well as MOTHA FUCKIN' SONIC ADVENTURE 2 BATTLE to my ps3.
Tophatmoffet Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I'm bringing a laptop with touhou 13.5 demo build. Came out today. The only way its not happening is if I cant get it working on my laptop, which is unlikely.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 It's funny how with this entire selection at hand, we'll probably be playing Melty Blood and Guilty Gear over everything.
LastStarSaviour Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 @SMP discussion: Woz is right guys, the opponent can tech immediately upon the SMP detection system's activation. Here's a good little example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IND-eboaOhc&feature=player_detailpage#t=313s Notice the Jin flashed blue in this vid as well and the combo was still red beat.
Seiki Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 We are talking about it being red beat when an attack connects after SMP special is used. In the vid you showed it was a legit red beat because the last hit was the SMP move.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) If you watch the first vid, Ragna blinks blue several times throughout the combo because there's more than one SMP move. It's red, but it's still techable. Edited December 31, 2012 by Volpe-de-Glacio
Jackie Chandler Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I'm not concerned about Beats or the combo counter. I just want to know if triggering SMP means the opponent can tech immediately afterwards. Especially since CP is implementing P4A's system of "hold button to tech ASAP," knowing that would mean a lot more to me than whether the system deems it a legit combo or not. Assuming they can, any discussion on whether or not a combo is legit after SMP is activated is pointless, because it obviously isn't. If you have to time a throw break properly to avoid mid-combo purple throws, and an ensuing combo after a failed attempt to reject it isn't legit, why would SMP when you can avoid subsequent attacks by holding a single button the entire combo without having to time anything? If the Sparring dummy had just teched that Hazama OD combo, I wouldn't be questioning the way it works. I guess it's possible that it's only programmed to tech once a combo goes Blue Beat. The problem is, as far as I know, we don't know if SMP could work on a move-by-move basis. For example, if a Ragna were to do Hell's Fang -> Rapid Cancel -> Hell's Fang, there's a good chance the opponent would be able to tech immediately because the untechable time on Hell's Fang isn't all that great to begin with. But if we change the scenario to have a Hazama doing CH Jayoku -> Jayoku (which has an incredible untechable value), if the system scales the untechable time based on the individual move, that might mean that the Hazama combo wouldn't be techable immediately, and would explain why the Sparring dummy didn't tech during that 10K combo. But until I can see some more in-depth, conclusive evidence, I won't be convinced. Star's video could be evidence of either, seeing as the starter was a CH 6A and the combo was 22 hits in before she triggered SMP. All it boils down to, even in the form of other video proof, is whether or not the opponent was holding a button to tech when SMP kicked in. It's not that I don't believe you guys- I'd just prefer to wait to make sure of how it works before I throw any more speculation about it around. #walloftext
Astaroth136 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Especially since CP is implementing P4A's system of "hold button to tech ASAP," WHAT?! I DIDN'T KNOW THIS! That's the best news I've gotten all year.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Well, unless someone can pick me up from Star's before noon, guess I'm not gonna make it.
Milln Posted December 31, 2012 Author Posted December 31, 2012 Well, unless someone can pick me up from Star's before noon, guess I'm not gonna make it. Well, how's Star getting here? I assume that whoever's bringing him would also bring you?
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) He's going tomorrow, but his mom flipped out on me. She's sending me home at noon. Anyway, would you be willing to come get me? I gotta know this before my ride leaves and I'm sitting in Star's parking lot for no reason. Well, back to sitting in my room for the next three months. Fuck. Well he isn't leaving right away so I have a little while, but since Milln got off immediately after posting I guess I'm out of luck. Still, anyone ready for sexual favors? Well, turns out my ride decided to leave without me. Someone should probably come save me before Star's mom gets home and murders me. Edited December 31, 2012 by Volpe-de-Glacio
Tophatmoffet Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 In other news, I'm having problems setting my stick up on the PC. It doesn't register when I set it to ps3, but it does when I set it to xbox. Its a problem with games that require key config because down on the stick somehow defaults to back button. Not sure how to fix this. Might just be my bad but its really confusing.

I suppose I could come get you. I'm done cleaning and doing preliminary setup. =O In other news, I'm having problems setting my stick up on the PC. Computers and sticks are finicky about that sometimes.

If you could give me a ride I'd really appreciate it, although if you could wait 'til the pizza gets here first I'd love you forever.
