Middle Tennessee Needs Gaming! Monthly Versus Tourneys - Antioch, TN

Hey guys. I actually do still exist. I've been jobbing it up as a helpdesk rep, and when I get home, I've been playing Soul Calibur 5. Final Round practice for that game is already underway for me. I'll be playing Marvel too in the coming week for the GG and Kumite tournaments.

Hope to see you all at these tournaments! :thumbu:

Good to hear! I'm looking forward to seeing you tear it up in SC/Mahvel/everything else. :D

Well, kurapu. Just realized I can't go to Kumite. Oh well, guess I'll just watch the archive later. Lol

Aw, kurapu indeed. You'll just have to make up for lost time at February's MTN, right? :3

@SMP discussion: This may seem like something that's obvious to some of you, but it didn't occur to me until I watched the beginning of a video on pktazn's channel here. I was watching the Makoto play around with an Overdrive combo between matches, and noticed her do two Corona Uppers in the same combo. At first I thought "huh, that's weird. I must have missed the Same Move Proration message/blue flash." But after I backed it up and watched it again, I noticed what it was. She had comboed the ground version of her DP into the air version. That probably means that most (if not all) moves that have both grounded and air versions (like Inferno Divider, Gauntlet Hades, Air Persia[?], Litchi's staffless specials, etc.) don't prompt SMP when both are used in the same combo. Just thought it might be something worth bringing up.

IIRC there were a good bit of moves in Extend that followed this rule. Litchi in particular having the most variations of SMP applied to single moves out of the entire cast. (2 versions of Haku, 5 versions of Hatsu, 5 versions of Chun) Relius and Bang also have air and ground specials accounted for separately. (Relius' Id Lauger and Bang's Double Palm Thrust)

Hurry up and announce the Evo games so I can find out whether or not I need to practice Persona and KOF or just KOF.

That totally never occurred to me. Also, that's a pretty insane number of varying specials, haha. Just out of curiosity, if the differences are grounded/air and starter/follow-up, what's the last one that makes five? And do you think the same principle regarding ground/air specials might apply to ground/air Distortions, too? (I.E. Baden Baden Lily/Tempest Dahlia/Daisharin[?])

I'm sure it's not solely his decision, but doesn't Mr. Wizard play a huge part in deciding which games are played at EVO? And also hate Persona with an undying, completed unfounded passion?

Is this the same dude who said there were two-frame overheads in P4U?

Tanki Hatsu/Chun (IppatsuB/C or B/C while standing on the staff)

As far as I know, there are no supers with SMP that can be done both on the ground and in the air. Daisharin, BBL, TD and Calamity Sword don't have SMP so there's no way for us to tell.

Yup. And when he got called out on being wrong, banned Lord Knight from the irc.

And this guy is in charge of the EVO line-up. . . ? Wow.

It occurred to me today that I haven't uploaded anything BB gameplay related to my channel for 8 months. So here, have a Ragna Abyss Mode combo that involves DbD -> Rapid Cancel -> Black Onslaught.

Oh yeah, and Mr. Wizard is a salty douchebag with the brain of a five-year-old.

Just dropping in to say that MI *might* be in attendance for KiT. I'm currently looking at expenses, etc. Just a couple questions:

-How far is the venue from the airport?

-What's the cheapest hotel near the venue?

This is the transcript of Mr.Wizard's P4A comments for those who haven't seen it.

The fact that he's the admin of SRK or allowed to be in any sort of authority position regarding EVO or fighting games in general is laughable. He is literally XBL scrub tier.

Don't insult XBL scrub tier by putting Mr. Wizard on their level. :v: You're totally right though, it's unbelievable that someone as immature and unknowledgable about fighting games like him can be in such high-ranking positions across fighting game mediums. I came across this log on the same site and it only further evidences the fact:

My favorite is Line 46.

Old news, my favorite line is 43, you can do it Viscant.

Also, mAc's location gives me a nerd boner.

And on a slightly more serious note, people will be stupid regardless of their position or how much people respect them. I can't say stuff like this surprises me in any scene.

P.S "unknowledgeable" is gross, next time just say ignorant please.

Does misspelling unknowledgeable make me ignorant? Or does not using ignorant in the first place make me unknowledgeable?

You are so ignorant about how unknowledgeable you are about the word ignorant. /scoff

Man, I don't know whether I should schedule my days off to go to Winter Brawl or Final Round. How's the car-pooling situation looking for either of these events? I can provide a good share towards the drive to the events no problem. I'm leaning more towards Final Round since they're having Melty Blood there but I really just don't know.

What do you all suggest?
