First post, woohoo!

I try to zone as much as possible with 5B and 2B while trying to capitalize on Carl players' mistakes. Going airborne generally feels like a bad idea. How do you guys go about this matchup? I feel it's a tough matchup when I get impatient.

Bang's good at getting in - so I find I have to pay more attention to what I'm doing with Carl than Nirvana. Reacting to what bang is trying to do using j.B or j.C, and using nirvana to crush him from behind slowly is what seems to work well.

This is part of the reason why I'm not as mobile in this matchup. Good Carl players react to it and puts you between him and Nirvana. Ugh. I can't block that stuff! I'm supposed to watch for an overhead, reset, right?

uhhh i think this post^^^^ is in the wrong place lol.

Wow. Oops! I've been playing Carl lately, so that totally slipped my mind. Lemme try that again.

I can't find any Carls to play against, but the one I do know plays a lot on plays on PSN (probably in top 50 monthly - not sure if he's playing this summer) and likes to Volante off-screen and the BnBs, but more or less it's just as I said from the other perspective - I have to be wary of Carl more than Nirvana. Just listen while watching Carl, usually he jumps while inputting nirvana so he can buffer in more stuff easily. If he jumps, You're probably going to be dealing with Nirvana while he tries to pull a BnB on you. Just block or move. Moving's a better idea - you can get back in - because you are Bang.

Bumpers were used to pretty great effect in CT. What's he got to stuff those now? I mean we can blow right past the doll he's using as a shield, mix him up, and get back out if we need to.

Some Carl's don't need nirvana to protect them. Carl really can take care of himself with the exception of his mobility, but just because a Carl has Nirvana on the other side of the screen and you think you re in doesn't mean Carl still has a plan or is now suddenly free - you're about to lose or get jokingly setup into my favorite carl thing:

Burst->Nirvana Super.

I got completely destroyed, twice, by the same Carl, and I have no idea what to do.

He pretty much airdashed in and I wasn't sure what to use as an anti-air, so I usually just took a hit and wound up eating a 30-40% combo.

I just started playing Bang, though, but any help by someone with experience would be much appreciated.

Block or 2d. You are much more mobile than him so use that to your advantage. Also when playing bang get used to not having an anti-air. Moving around alot is a good idea bcuz you dont want to get sandwiched inbetween him and nirvana. Dont be predictable with your movement either.

Carls abuses the air throw glide to get around. Explore your air to air options and pick up what you can. Nirvanas DP thing absolutely destroys Bangs approach, that's one thing I can't seem to get past. On a smaller note, if Nirvana activates and Carl's not jamming aerials down your Shishigami gullet, 2b the doll for some damage and jump cancel away to neutral.

2b the doll when she's active and jump cancel away. Carls approaches via air throw glide, explore air to air options you're comfortable with. Having said that, the dolls DP type move stuff all our approaches. Super double jump air dash over it when it's being spammed. In between the doll is bad, if you manage a 6D, c teleport away or you'll be reset.
