Kuuhaku Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 (edited) Overview The biggest change about this match up is it no longer takes six years. Rejoice! People will stop raging at you for playing Rachel mirrors. Tips/Misc As usual, wind management is very important.Rachel has a tough time getting out of pressure, so getting knockdown first puts the match up heavily in your favor.Getting hit by cat chair hurts a lot in this game, so make sure to bait it. gli Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 While you can actually kill before time runs out sometimes timing out the other Rachel is a good idea. A Rachel trying to chase another Rachel is still pretty difficult.
tofurr Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 If a lower level TD is used after a higher level TD is summoned, it'll beat it out. I used a level 0 or 1 against a level 3 or 4 and it beat it out giving me the game.

tofurr Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 So in a clash of Tempest Dahlia's, everything beats a Level 5. Levels 1 and 3 will clash. Level 4 beats those three, and a Level 2 will beat all of them. Interesting.
KoopaDoopa Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 (edited) My first post in the matchup section ; please correct me if I give out bad info! I find that TD isn't very useful as an approach tool in this matchup; Rachel has many ways to stall for time in the air (notably pumpkin and frog), and it is possible to punish it with wind + airdash into air BBL (Personal experience... cough cough.) However, if you see them using something obvious like B or C cannon, it works as a great punish. -If you're mixing up a Rachel who is very cat-chair happy, empty jump 2D into barrier is good for baiting it. -If you 5CC them in the corner into frog and they try neutral tech D into throw, 5A and 2A beat it out, haven't tried her other normals yet. Kuuhaku Posted September 8, 2011 Author Posted September 8, 2011 2A whiff oki that you do to bait DPs also works very well on cat chair... and cat chair you can also try to setup frame traps since autoguard doesn't happen until frame 3. And oh yeah... NeoZero got me a lot with that at EVO and I was kinda derpy about it. Any meaty will beat it out.
KoopaDoopa Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 And oh yeah... NeoZero got me a lot with that at EVO and I was kinda derpy about it. Any meaty will beat it out. It was a nice trick while it lasted =[ I suppose throwing it out when the other Rachel is doing autopilot oki to wake them up a bit is a good option. Will neutral tech + D into 2C beat out meaties? Anyway, some more stuff dealing with neutral game: -Summoning the frog ASAP is very important. Rachel can't deal with frog + lobelias + 5D very well as the lobelia will cover jump-outs and George covers the ground. Setup poles and combine with Sword Iris when the opponent is trying to approach to force the other Rachel to stay on the ground. -Let the other Rachel use wind to try to come near you. In other words, play defensively. (I know, it's boring) Don't try to anti-air the standard air pumpkin 2D air approach. Wait for the other Rachel to reach the ground then jump and summon pumpkin to halt her approach.
Kuuhaku Posted September 9, 2011 Author Posted September 9, 2011 2C doesn't have autoguard until frame 3, so meaties will beat wind tech 2C. It's the same concept as punishing someone for mashing on wakeup. Just Rachel has more control of where she goes when she techs.
gli Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) Something I learned from playing Harakiri_Tiger all night. Just spam 6B in corner at max distance. Rachel has a hard time dealing with this. You cannot 2C 6B at max distance. Only thing that will reset situation is wind + tech. Overall: If you are defending, you are losing :< Edited December 20, 2011 by glirandly

Overall: If you are defending, you are losing :< i play this matchup a lot with hara, the only way i've found out of this is to IB the 6b and throw my own 6b before he can throw another one (or jump out). however, the spacing of rachel's 6b has to be perfect in order to keep performing it. pretty much, unless you IB, you cannot get out of rachel's corner pressure unless the rachel makes a mistake or gets greedy. if you can IB a lobelia, you can do a dash 2a poke before rachel resets pressure also. BE PATIENT when you are cornered by rachel. wait for a hole. try to IB and escape. also, air summoning is not the best way to go...if the other rachel summons pumpkin on the ground and you jump to summon pumpkin, you are at a disadvantage, not only because you are in the air and rachel's anti-air is awesome, but also because to hit a rachel full screen with the pumpkin you have to use a wind to get the pumpkin down AND a wind to hit the rachel, while the other rachel can actually beat your advances with one 5d. if the other rachel manages to summon pumpkin before you, wait for them to rush with the pumpkin and 5d and jump over or if you're feeling lucky, mash a 2c before the pumpkin hits you....rachels never bait cat chair in this situation
gli Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I guess I can apply some of your stuff seeing as you are more comfortable with the mirror than I am. I think I honestly respect too much so I'm stuck getting pressured.
Herbal Grey Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) I guess I can apply some of your stuff seeing as you are more comfortable with the mirror than I am. I think I honestly respect too much so I'm stuck getting pressured. you have to adjust to the rachel...for hara specifically, i find that he expects you to respect him, so he tends to do a lot of unsafe summoning at full screen instead of using sword iris, allowing me to winded dash through the poles (on the ground) and hit him with 2a/poke/etc. if you allow rachel to do a full screen summon while you're respecting poles/pumpkin etc, then you're right, you'll end up in a block string, or worse corner pressure if you're not careful...if you do lose the initial zoning battle, chances are you're gonna have to settle for air summoning pumpkin to try to get the advantage back (and use up more wind stocks in the process). i think the main thing to keep in mind is that rachel can't mix you up with her zoning, so don't get too anxious. eventually, she has to come in to do any non-chip damage, so the only way for her to do damage is to summon something and rush you down...THAT is when you can hit her back if you're playing defense. if i feel like i'm about to be locked down, i tend to use jump 7d/9d plus lobelia/pumpkin summon to try to gain some momentum and avoid that lockdown which it sounds like is your main problem edit: make the rachel player stay honest with their sword irises too...make them have to sword iris to keep you away (i tend to approach with a jumping barrier guard to make them sword iris)...once you start over-respecting sword iris in this matchup, you're dead, because respect = summon for the other rachel. once the other rachel gets a summon over you, you're gonna have to start doing some blocking.
