Did you think PS3 TEs were different, or do you just not have one, if it's the latter, I'm all but certain you'll find someone to lend you one during matches... if not... well then I'm double fucked :3

They are not, unless you dual mod them, I am saying you could most likely find someone to lend you their own PS3 TE during a match of yours. Unless it REALLY needs to be your own personal TE for you to do well on....

hey guys. been feeling kinda free/like l plateau'd for awhile and i'm wanting to step my game. i'd love some input from you guys if you guys dont mind helping me out just a little.

not any of you guys' super secret strats or anything. just some pointers.

Posted

Super secret strat: be random!

Super secret strat 2: be random and gimmicky!

Super secret strat 3: don't listen to Tari.

:P

random/gimmicky isnt bad actually in some cases. but my concern really is neutral. im finding it harder to think about what l should be doing. i'm getting out-yomi'd alot. l'm trying my absolute best to FOCUS on what im doing to no avail.

it just feels like to me i'm a car stuck in a pit of mud. no matter how strong my drive l cant get out; and i'd like to say, my desire to play bb is still very strong, so it isnt lack of motivation or w/e. l hate feeling sorry for myself but l need to advice pretty badly at this point.

well i'd be willing to help, if that's okay with you. do you have any specific examples of things you do? maybe things you consider are bad habits?

My summary of Guilty Crown:

- Great music! (thank you ryo/supercell!)

- Great audio! (though the transition from singer to VA is a little more noticeable than I think it should be)

- Great visual! (thank you redjuice!)

- .......

- ...but... what the fuck did I just watch?

So I can't decide if I should be hype for this yet or not. I'm going to keep watching, though.

I seriously think this is just a Supercell anime.

A bunch of great and a wtf factor, why wouldn't you be hype? :kitty:

Because in anime, wtf-factor often means bad things nowadays. That said, this season seems to be geared towards amazing wtf shows, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm also having this autopilot problem most of the time. I think it's better to not try to focus on what you should be doing (in the sense of, following a flowchart), but to instead to look at the opponents movement/actions, and then react accordingly. Like, don't just IABD, summon your stuff, then do your zoning flowchart. It creates a lot of bad habits imo.

Try to play more of those matchups where you have to play a reactionary style (Lambda, Carl, Tager for example) and try to focus on not doing anything without a purpose. Why do you throw certain lobelias? Do you want to set up a trap? Or do you want to catch them in the air? They should always have a purpose (currently mine don't always have one :v:).

Also, always try to be in your opponents head. Try to think of what you would be doing if you were in his position, then anticipate it. This is also my main problem. I'm too busy with myself and don't see what my opponent is doing in the meantime. Your goal is to get to a point where you can do what you want with Rachel (anti-air etc) without looking at her, so you can focus on the enemy more (do I actually have to anti-air him?).

reactions arent my strong point, lol.

l understand what you mean, though. guess l was focusing on the wrong person :v: alright i'll try it out. thanks

Well you should never be looking at your own character (except maybe to judge distances), but I agree with [spA]Relentless on all points. He nailed it. Autopilot will kill you against good players.

This might all sound very obvious but, IMO, the way to truly play well is like this : you have to know your opponent's available options at all times, and try to make the best decision possible in every situation. Take the match one step at a time. Figuring out what the opponent can and wants to do is super important for when you choose your next move. When I play I dont think about winning, I think about how I'm gonna get the next hit in and how not to get hit. This ends up making you win more anyway lol.

Another thing is that when you're zoning, sometimes the opponent will manage to get in anyway. It's important to quickly make the mental switch to "okay, he's in, I have to block now until I spot a way out" instead of panicking.

All of this is much harder to do than to say but it's definitely doable if you use force yourself to use 100% of your brain lol. I feel like you're a terrific player (you've always been a big inspiration as a Rachel player) so it's kinda weird allowing myself to say this to you xD but hopefully this helps a bit.

The reason I'm specifically pointing this out is that during CT times, I once wanted to try and sub Carl. I went into training mode, learned two or three easy combos with Nirvana, then jumped right into netplay. The first game was against a Ragna player that had played 10 matches or so, and I thought I'd get an easy win as a start. But when the match started, I was so busy moving Nirvana around that I forgot to move myself, or I walked around and forgot about Nirvana. When I eventually managed to get a hit in, I forgot to activate Nirvana to attack etc etc. I ended up being so focused on what I have to do that I didn't see at all what the opponent was doing. Like, I completely didn't get realize what he was doing. He could jump in for free all day, run up 5B or whatever and I wouldn't have catched on until the combo was over. It went on like this for aprox. 5 matches, then I said "fuck it" and went back to Rachel :v:

However, this short subchar journey opened up my eyes, and I recognised that this was basically how I played all of my main chars in all games I ever played (not as distinctive of course, but essentially I am always more busy with myself than with my enemy). Since then I'm trying to get rid of this habit, but I'm not thinking of it often enough to get somewhere :X

lol same here, when I started playing CT and looked for Rachel matches on Youtube, the first videos to come up were the final matches of a netplay ranbat, TD vs SwordOfToan's Nu. I watched all the matches and was like "wtf, I'll never be as good as this guy". I'm probably still worse, but I came closer, haha :D
