DJ Koopa Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 (edited) I just came back from Anthrocon, and in the Zoo there was this projector in the corner and a shitload of people huddled around it, watching people play on this laptop. The PC-only game was called Gleam of Force, a doujin fighter French-Bread game (makers of Melty Blood), and it was...quite intriguing. All female cast (including Katsuko Hosokawa, no matter how manly and pimping her old ass looks) Three buttons. A, B, and C. A is light attacks, B is Heavy, and C is guard. A+B does supers with direction, and you can parry and counter with 2C for low or 8C for high. There's no jumping (except for like 2 characters), no crouching, and no grabs (excluding like 3 characters that have command grabs). Despite only having 2 attack buttons, the fact that there's no jumping means that each button holds potentially 9 attacks, up to 18 normal per character. Aside from specials which have inputs, supers are a direction and A+B. Despite sounding so simple, the mechanics behind it are much more than that. Also, despite each character's differences, there are three modes to gameplay. In-Fighter, Out-Boxer, and Old Style. Infighter 1.33x damage while in infight, as well as received damage halved Super meter gain when next to the opponent 33% less endurance gauge loss Strong attacks can be put out with guard cancel Outboxer 2x speed when evading When you land a counter hit the damage is increased 1.5x Advancement and retreat speed improves (forward dash not included) Can cancel into backstep from guard Old style For those who prefer the way it was before You will still receive a speed boost during infight -- Official site: http://www13.plala.or.jp/french/gof2.htm Wiki: http://gof2club.wikidot.com/ System/Engine data: http://gof2club.wikidot.com/game:system Gameplay example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YAi--JFBog Combo video part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQ5qVfvEZoU Combo video part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3z_b3AaDM8 Combo video part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJVIfbpJay0 So far, I can't find any reliable source to download this Japanese-only game..hopefully I (or someone else) can find it and share specifics. DJ Koopa Posted July 5, 2011 Author Posted July 5, 2011 (edited) Okay, I've found a place to download the game. http://www.mediafire.com/?6by7ban4hg75r Sadly, this is the only way to get it...since buying it online has no digital version, and they don't ship overseas. :/ This game needs an installation code to be installed and I happen to have one. Code: 8CA137784876AF0389994ADD Found through google and seemed to work endlessly. Edited July 16, 2011 by DJ Koopa
Tong Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 That's the most bizarre thing I've ever seen... even for Japan standards.
SolxBaiken Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Bizarre? How so? I love this game's gameplay and the graphics even more Should really make another, or someone needs to make a blatant rip off

A.B.A-can-do Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Is anyone got a lead on getting the complete OST for this game?
DJ Koopa Posted July 16, 2011 Author Posted July 16, 2011 Well, I technically have the OST, but because it's cut and repeatable, it's split up into the few-second intros and then the looping points. I don't remember where I got it from, but I did manage to upload it to box.net for people to download. http://www.box.net/shared/tezutukglh2tnkunhtui The CD itself is this. http://www.animate-onlineshop.jp/products/detail.php?product_id=58457
A.B.A-can-do Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 I have the one from hongfire where its cut with the between the intros and looping parts, but I an trying to to find the disc without finding somewhere to convert dollars to Yen.
A.B.A-can-do Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 More like a clone of Glove on Fight, which is the game its a sequel of. The mechanics are weirder between the two though.
DJ Koopa Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 More like a clone of Glove on Fight, which is the game its a sequel of. The mechanics are weirder between the two though. Actually, its abbreviation is "GoF2" despite being named Gleam of Force. So, yeah, it's an engine sequel to Glove on Fight in the way that BlazBlue could be considered a sequel series to Guilty Gear. By the way, I'm so pro Makoto~ Much better than SF and the squirrel bitch we know. :|
DJ Koopa Posted January 20, 2012 Author Posted January 20, 2012 Y'know, I've been looking to actually purchase the OST, but...well, I can't friggin' read Japanese. Anyone wanna help me out ordering this?
MikuruX Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Y'know, I've been looking to actually purchase the OST, but...well, I can't friggin' read Japanese. Anyone wanna help me out ordering this? Unfortunately, Himeyashop was the only place left that had the CD but their US division went under and has no chance of coming back. I looked around at AmiAmi and didn't find it neither. I'll keep searching around for ya and if I can find anything, I'll let ya know. Also, it's a shame that the online match server is gone cause it really did make finding matches easier than now where we have to find people whom actually have the game. What a drag. I can pretty much use anyone in the game but I'm more of a Negai & Madoi player at most.
FightTyme Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Some cool footage I found of this game if anyone is wondering the possibilities of this hella amazing rare gem fighting game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16AgXn8VsaA&feature=g-upl
Bang_Em_Banks Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 (edited) I didn't see this anywhere in the thread so I thought It would be cool to start a tier list discussion here. The list I'm presenting is based on research from what some of the higher level players are saying and have expressed consistently. It also shows the characters best features. Thanks Killfzz!
