Yggjrasil Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQff6Lqu4SI Hmm, mostly 214D combos in this tutorial, but some interesting Bubbleless Hammer Loops too.
Tari Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 (edited) I finally figured out how to do the 5C 2C 5D sjc j.C jc j.C j.D hammer loop. I have to do a forward superjump. What the @!_%)(&@!#@? > Why I can't do it off a plain ol' superjump is beyond meeeeeeee. Edited September 22, 2011 by Tari
Yggjrasil Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 :/ poor Tari worked harder than he should have. Such as life.
ShadowFiend Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 :/ poor Tari worked harder than he should have. Such as life. LOL right?
Tari Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Well, the forward jump making it easier sometimes aside, are there any other tips for landing that more consistently? Or is it somewhat setup specific?
Urichinan Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Well, the forward jump making it easier sometimes aside, are there any other tips for landing that more consistently? Or is it somewhat setup specific? Delaying your j.C's allows her to go higher above the opponent, so it works better. It just takes a good bit of practice.

Urichinan Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Yeah, that's all I could come up with, too. -sigh- I'm so lazy when it comes to practicing this sort of thing. It's pretty rare you'll even need to do the Hammer Loop Variation but it's still important to know. Being lazy about this one is something that's actually okay, I guess. XD

Being lazy about this one is something that's actually okay, I guess. XD Mm. If it does come up, I can always resort to the reduced damage (80-100 dmg) variation with j.B j.C djc j.D. Still, I really should figure this out, haha.
Yggjrasil Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 (edited) Some characters actually tech out early if you do J.B J.C djc J.D. :/ ggs proration. EDIT: nvm, I was thinking of j.B J.C J.B J.D, but by all means go for whatever's easier. Edited September 28, 2011 by Yggjrasil
Tari Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 j.B j.C djc j.D still causes an extra bit of proration, but it's generally not enough to cause the combo to fail anywhere that it wouldn't have with j.C djc j.C j.D. Fortunately. Otherwise I'd be really sad about my inability to do the loop variation. ...not that I'm not sad about it already.
Yggjrasil Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 I don't know you guys, This hammer loop looks pretty important.
Tari Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Gamma, stop trying to find reasons to make me practice.
Tari Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 <--Charisma stat up? :D I can convince Gamma! More seriously, though, I'm not sure if the j.B j.C djc j.D variation works on that particular combo. Hm. I'd test it out later, but... it's probably better to just learn the correct way of doing it.
Yggjrasil Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 I'll just use subliminal messaging (LEARN YOUR DAMN BUBBLELESS HAMMER LOOPS NOW) stop.
Spud Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 (edited) Guys, I'm seriously thinking of dropping Platinum as a main. I've been trying to level up with Platinum for a while, obviously, and I feel like I've come a very long way. But the more I get into actual high-level play, the more I feel like Platinum just isn't viable at all. From my experience, Plat really has no sure way to make a good opponent respect her offense that I can see. Swallow moon? 6B? Jump cancel a move? Try to do a stagger? All of these lose to most, if not all, characters' 5As alone. And it goes without saying that higher level players will see through all such gimmicks most of the time and know how to stop them cold. And I see no way to 'condition' opponents who know what they're doing into respecting those moves. When I try to look at Platinum videos for some inspiration, but oftentimes I see Japanese Plats having what looks to me like similar problems. It's just as irritating not being able to control the flow of matches most of the time. Anyway, I guess I just posted this cuz I'm salty to see how you all felt about Platinum's viability in high level play. Do you know how I feel or am I just bitching? Is Platinum worth sticking it out with? It's not like there's a lot of top players who bother to play her besides for the lulz. It's not like I just HATE Plat or I lose 100% of the time. In fact I win more than I lose, but against strong players with more solid characters it's a hugely uphill struggle. Or is it? I want your opinion. Am I just not being manly enough for teh loli? Edited September 30, 2011 by Spud
Yggjrasil Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 (edited) We all know what you mean. Most Plat videos I see are mainly of her losing pretty badly to either top-tiers or because of horrible luck. Platinum is very unorthodox as a Blazblue character. You have to make your own luck with using her. Make the best out of a bad situation, never think about giving up. The moment you do, You already lost the match. Any character can be viable in High Level Play (Dora uses Bang and he did extremely well in SBO and Spark won EVO using Hakumen) just have to work hard at it and Plat has enough tools to make it happen. Till this day I still have problems with Rachel,Litchi,Hazama,Jin and Lambda as Plat but I try my hardest to win with what I have because of the love I have for my character. (lol I know it sounds corny and kinda wrong but hey Platinum is a cool character and I wouldn't drop her for anyone else in BB.) tl;dr: Try being annoying with her. LunaKage Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 +1 5A Easy to hitconfirm Great corner carry Crazy corner damage. Bad defense No DP without Bat Fastest move is her 6 frame 5A She's a momentum character, when you stagger just use 5A, you can get away with Swallow Moon stuff once your opponent has been conditioned to respect, Platinum can win easy as long as she abuses her j.C and items at neutral and keeps the 5A frame-traps going when on offense. But she might as well be Tager if you are forced to start blocking without Bat, hell at least Tager has dat 720/360 that opponents need to beware of. But in the hands of a skilled player she has the tools needed to make any Noel player question the matchup, Axis is the best Plat I've ever fought and honestly if Plat was his actual main we probably would have gone even.
A.X.I.S. Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Spud the skill level of Plat mains in JP goes from bad to good, there isn't any A+ Plat mains. Of course everyone will suffer the same problems with the same characters it's part of the design. If people won't respect you then stagger and use frame traps. Plat has decent frame traps to fish out hits so it's all good. I was demotivated at first because Skye kept counter picking me with Ragna but eventually I leveled up and got passed that. I still don't like fighting Ragna though.
Urichinan Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Platinum is definitely viable, if she wasn't she wouldn't continue to place in the higher regions of tournaments. Like LunaKage said, you just need to use the tools she does have and stop trying to make ones she doesn't. Conditioning the opponent can take a while, but being able to hit-confirm well and know your ranges, pokes and other tools will make people have something to be afraid of. She has uphill battles, yes, but she can deal with them, and overcome them too. You MUST abuse her 5A, it's without a doubt her best move, it leads to frame traps, you can stagger with it, it's jump cancelable, it gatlings into all of her other normals and it's +1. You need to make the opponent scared of what you're going to do after her 5A, are you going to go low? Overhead? TK Swallow Moon? TK Swallow Moon into a j.C to cause yourself to fall instantly into a throw? Tick throw? Command Throw? Keep 5A'ing? Will you go into 2B then to 5C and then start the whole process over? She's got what she needs, she just has flaws. And it looks like she's getting a lot better in Extend, so don't give up on her yet.
CakeWasBannedd Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I still don't like fighting Ragna though. yeah nigga fuck that matchup. TK Swallow Moon into a j.C to cause yourself to fall instantly into a throw? use j.BC instead, no landing recovery
Urichinan Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 yeah nigga fuck that matchup. I have a worse time fighting Jin then Ragna. =/ Still though, Ragna's a hard match. DX
CakeWasBannedd Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I have a worse time fighting Jin then Ragna. =/ Still though, Ragna's a hard match. DX fuck that matchup too. fuck all plat's matchups equally because they're all bad
A.X.I.S. Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I don't know Cake. Tager, Arakune, and Bang seems fine. Mu and Lambda are both very easy to manage. Hakumen is a mind fuck but it's not so bad. Everyone else...fuck everyone else.
