  1. hi guys. here's a little blast from the past for you.
  2. it's almost as if reversals can be baited platinum having any reversal option at all other than "sit there and take it unless you have a bat" is really really great imo. i catch people with it all the time, because i don't use it often enough for anyone to expect it. just bgood and don't treat it like ID because it's not.
  3. a really good thing to do is record matches/videos of yourself playing and then watch them after the fact- it really helps you pick out what you're doing that's dumb. also watch lots of jp matches and copy what they do as far as movement tactics etc
  4. 214AA~B? you mean 236AA~B
  5. being an exchange student and stuff takes up a lot of time crno ʕ •́؈•̀ ₎ hmu on skype or something sometime, i'll tell you all about #jplyf
  6. -you're playing waaay too defensive. platinum vs rachel is a pretty bad matchup, but if you never attempt to do anything, you're never going to get anything. -less 6C in your blockstrings, it leaves you in a position you can only do two things (j.c or jump) and thus is really easy to counter. -you have j.C syndrome. i had it too and it's a really easy bad habit to get into, because platinum's j.c is so nice and long and has such long hitstun (or did, lol) that it's tempting to make it your sole approach, but you end up jumping around a loot more than you need to. try feeling your opponent out with a well-spaced 5b, 2b, or dash-in 3c. overall you're just too defensive and too jump-happy, i'd say. it might just be because you were fighting a rachel and didn't want to get locked down on the ground, but it's really important not to be so predictable in how you play. platinum's normals are not the best in the world, but you need to make the other player respect what options you have. that rachel just went to town on you with no fear because you were constantly letting him (jumping around making your options predictable, not ever really attempting to poke out of blockstrings in the corner, always approaching the same way so he could peg you with projectiles easily)
  7. TD do you believe you are an anime this post would suggest you do
  8. you guys are having a scene secret santa event? stay adorable, PNW <3
  9. platinum is fine i think. even with me not knowing optimal combos (wtf do i do after 5a 5c mami???) and dropping in the corner letting my opponents escape, i don't really have a huge amount of problems winning if i play smart and patient and use platinum's various tricks to mess with opponents. i dunno if the players at the arcade i go to are just bad though, that's also possible. but she's not awful!!
  10. does the new cure dot typhoon super auto-track? i mean, if i'm moving around, do i have to make sure i still stay kinda close to my opponent, or will it just stick on them no matter where i go?
  11. this matchup seems difficult for platinum from what i've played. you're going to have a lot of trouble at long-range if she tries to zone you out, which any good mu will do up until you're close enough to present a threat. don't be afraid to run right in if you see her setting up lasers, and make ample use of barrier blocking any time you're in the air so mu's good ground to air moves don't nick you. once you've got mu locked down, you need to watch out for her DP, but other than that most of her normals won't be beating yours. punish the jump-out with a well-timed 6A or air throw, and above all, don't let her get away. once she's out of your pressure she has a full advantage and can proceed to lock you down with lasers, dash in, attempt a mixup, and quickly dash out, all before you can do much. tl;dr don't let mu get away or your life will be hell!
  12. i'm in a small little town kinda close to fukuoka city, anyone near there? i'm not holding out much hope honestly :c there's a little arcade in fukuoka city by the bus station that has NESICA cabs, but the one time i went i couldn't find anyone. i'll try again soon i suppose!
  13. just get it so you recognize when they're crouching and then go into the crouch-specific combo just jsut justt use your eyes
  14. it's not about a single mixup and then hoping they get hit, it's about going back into a pressure string and hopefully getting another combo/oki. this is how fighting games are played, and why aigis is top tier
  15. agreed, i'm sure ludwig will have a more comprehensive and up to date OP as time goes on. the game is early yet!
  16. here's a reflector combo i made up, uses 50 heat and has to be in/near the corner. let me know if you can find something better, i'd love to know 5bd~6c dash 5b 5c 236b 236236d dash 214d 5b 5c 236a~d 2[C] 5c 236a~bbb 4026 damage
  17. yeah, was pretty lame. hopefully it's a temporary thing
  18. i find that holding D to cancel your 236B helps me, but i dunno. just gotta get good at sonic speed
  19. this shit's hilarious thanks omni
  20. it's true, but you need to activate overdrive to use it and we don't yet know how hard that is
  21. pretty much my thoughts i was done with bb, just too stale and bland after playing since CT, but this seems hype enough to get me back into it :D
  22. second day playing extend but i've been playing since CT don't think so much about people better than you, just worry about improving. if i worried about my skill level in relation to japanese players i'd probably get depressed and quit
  23. i've got this shit down, japanese pronounciation is hella easy
