Yeah, should definitely update that a bit. Most of it is still relevant though, her core style hasn't really changed at all.

So no frame data got changed? Double checking. Need to learn some good pressure/mix-ups/frame traps and what not.

Thanks.

I've archived the CS2 matchup threads like you wanted, go ahead and make new ones.

Nice, only got a week of school left so I will be fixing and adding information on everything I wrote to make it relevant to Extend.

Should be done with Alan baked by then =3

hello Taokaka players :)

I've decided to learn Tao. So far I'm having a blast with her. Such a huge difference from Hakumen! Quick question, how do you do Tao's drive attack laterally in the air? Laterally as in parallel to the ground. Also, can anyone help with general blocktrings?

Go to the hitbox viewer in the wiki and everything you need is in the taokaka wiki section.

Umm, I've read the entire Taokaka wiki twice (overlooking how painful that is considering the amount issues of grammar and sentence structure.) Still couldn't figure out how to do the drive sideways while in the air.

A) I wrote the wiki with the intention of making It easy to understand. So I apologize ininhavent looked it over as it is t a thesis paper.

B) The drive your referring to is probably j.D which you would have figured out had you examined the hit box viewer that the site has provided.

That is great that you wrote the wiki, and thank you for that. However, your goal of it being easy to understand is not being reached partially due to the grammar and sentence mistakes.

Also, as I just said I have read the entire thing twice including the hitbox viewer, I still have not figured out how to do the drive sideways, and no it isn't J.D. J.D is at a slight angle. Let me see if I can find a video of a Taokaka doing the drive I am referring to.

Figured it out. If you B cancel J.D, it is possible to dash parallel to the ground with a J.D rather than at a slight downward angle. I thought it'd be a different drive.

I'll look over it later and edit it or something.

j.D,5D,j.4D are all parallel to the ground

I'll look over and and list possible corrections. Also, J.D by itself is NOT parallel. It is at a slight downward angle. The only parallel drive dashes Taokaka has from what I understand is 5D, J.4D and J.D with an immediate B cancel

edit: I have proofread and edited the entire Taokaka wiki so it's much easier to understand. Obviously I don't have rights to edit the wiki. I tried messaging you the corrections but I don't think it sent.

Soooooooooooo why does no one use charged 5c to take primers

Free fatal or counter hit. The move has no frames of invincibility and Tao simply has better options then to try something so risky.

So I got the time to record corner low height ender -> 66 -> j.D~B whiff.

The opponent still doesn't even have the time to tech before you've recovered, and you end up right next to them if they forward tech. If they backwards/neutral tech, they're still the one against the corner. It actually seems like a viable option, unless I'm missing something.

After a litttle more than 3 months, my BBCSEX finally arrived (yes, Brazilian mail is that good) and yeah...

-Tao coner combos are really fun and I love doing sutff like tk Cat2->j.D~A

-The CA nerf isn't as bad as I thought, so far I didn't have problems at all, I hit 9 of 10 CAs

-However, I HATE the j.D CH wallbounce...although I understand the nerf. If Tao still had CS2 j.D, maybe she would be able to AB2 combo after a j.D~B CH anywhere...with the wallbounce you can only do it when you are very low.

-I'm having problems to AB2 Arakune...any tips?

I'm new to Tao and i have a couple questions. Are there any tutorials for AB2 combos? What is the most effective anti-air because 6A is not working that well for me?

Posted

AB2 is pretty self explanatory. I know the wiki has some info, but you can find more in part two of the combo tutorial on YouTube.

Also 6A is a legit anti air. Your only other option is 2D, but it's kind of bootleg.

So...anyone know how to correct Tao after a 2D~B/j.8D~B that doesn't cross-up? (like here) Usually when you 2D~B/j.8D~B, Tao changes side even if it doesn't cross-up and something like j.C doesn't hit (like pre-CS2 214D), but that guy in the video corrected Tao after the 2D~B and landed a j.C. This can create some nice mixups after jump cancelable moves since j.8D~B move Tao foward less than 2D~B (and does a quicker overhead too)

Posted

Do a super jump j.8d~b. That allows Tao to keep facing the direction if you're on the farther end of 5c.

Note: I think there's a slight chance to cross yourself up, but I'm not sure of the range

I need more free time -_-"

As mentione above you need to do SJC, j.8D-B from a good distance away from your opponent. Tested some of my mix ups with this and it wasn't that bad to be honest it just felt a little disappointing in the end.

Pros

-It's fast

-Can do some IAD stuff instead of doing j.C

-works well against patient players

-Variety of options if you can the opponent to block

-Still have the ability to bait reversals and anti airs

-have the option to return to neutral with C cancel

-Can lead to good damage

Cons

-Distance specific

-anyone with Tao exp will recognize the distance and can unintentionally hit her out of any setup (lol ragna)

-not mash safe

-can be anti aired

-if you mess up you will whiff a backwards j.C and be punished

-Taos lack of range makes players hit buttons (mash anti air) at this distance so caution is advised.

-Required a certain level of conditioning to be effective

Yeah, I found it myself how to do it later. It's a nice trick, people who know the matchup don't fall in her 2D~B/j.8D~B crossup and are already used to that, so this can be nice once in a while for a surprise, but not something to use all day. About not being mash safe, lots of her mixup aren't and that's why you make you opponent respect your pressure (which is not difficult at all with Tao)

AB2->236CxN :3

Now seriously, I don't think Tao can do it. Her moves that have SMP are all her drives except j.8D and 236C...and since Tao doesn't have infinite jumps and ~6 cancel recovery is too long, I don't think she can land 10 SMP moves in a combo that easily without AB2 (which already fucks the combo prorate anyway)

Hey guys! So I'm trying to learn Tao and so at the very least I wanted to get used to her combos and have an idea of what she can do. So I'm in CSEX's challenge mode and I'm stuck on Challenge 11. I understand it but for some reason my jump cancel for the final JC>Cat Spirit 2 never comes out.

The only thing that I'm thinking that screws me up is that when I do J.8D I accidentally input a Jump cancel there. It doesn't feel like I do though. However when I hit that Jump C just before the J8D I delay it a bit to make sure the J8D connects so I don't know if that messes me up? I'm just lost on what I'm doing wrong so any help would be appreciated.
