Toasty Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Wait, is it an overhead that comes out in 0 frames? Am I reading that right? That would be REALLY strong if the opponent can't change their block during the super flash.
Vulcan422 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) It looked like it in one of the screenshots at the end, they were crouching and blocking. Hence... Take this with a grain of salt. IMO I think I might have messed up on that. It would be pretty overpowered if it ended up as an overhead on a crouching character. Hitbox seems to suggest high but it's huge so might be mid. Sphere211 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 It looks to be like a very useful astral, so easy to combo into...
.:TM:. Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 So someone made that video, showing Relius intros, astrals and win quotes. Yet they missed out the Carl Vs Relius intro.... How? Why?
Vulcan422 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 It looks to be like a very useful astral, so easy to combo into... It can definitely be comboed off of Gold Burst, but the majority of the combos in the video were blue beats. Regardless, it still seems rather useful.

LuminAbyss Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 It was too long and they were like "MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH"
BladeOfJustice7 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 If Relius' astral was zero frames, Hakumen wouldn't be able to astral it on reaction as we saw in the video posted with the intros and etc. Hakumen can't counter GETB on reaction because it's active on like the first frame or so.

It also wouldn't blue beat in combos because if it was 0 frames, it would juggle after his 5C, as seen in the video, it doesn't.
Vulcan422 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Thanks for clarifying. Still, with that Guardpoint it may have its uses. Not like the majority of other Astrals that got dumbed down to uselessness after CS1 because of the new throw system (I'm looking at you, Jin).
bakahyl Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 In CS2 Jin could combo into his astral in the corner, but it was very specific. Atleast Jin's astral was more practical than Carl , Rachel or Arakune.
Rishtopher Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Atleast Jin's astral was more practical than Carl , Rachel or Arakune. This hurts >__< I hate how Relius' astral is so good! The rest of the cast *coughCarlcough* should get an astral update! Also, out of the three you mentioned, Carl's is the worst IMO. Speaking of Carl's astral, I wonder how long Ignis' guardpoint lasts since you can get Rachel's and Carl's to clash if you spaced right, but Rachel loses at point blank range. I doubt it goes as long as Rachel's astral though.
YukiBlue Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Rachels Astral with Wind is god tier troll. I still think Mu has the most practical astral (But the fucking ugliest one to boot) in the game 3C > Astral It's going to be interesting to see what bullshit Relis can do with his sex dungeon
Guymam Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Rachels Astral with Wind is god tier troll. I still think Mu has the most practical astral (But the fucking ugliest one to boot) in the game 3C > Astral Hazama has 3C > astral and 6A > astral and a couple other good setups. What makes it suck is pretzel. Pretzel motion can go eat a dick.

Sphere211 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 You can combo Relius's off a backgrab [there's probably more I don't know], and Noel's in any BnB.
bakahyl Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) well Mu's astral can also work with 2c, besides 6b, 6a, 3c, knockdown j.2c in the corner and 5c edit: didn't knew about regular j.2c, because it's hard to hitconfirm it into an astral but ot works edit: even 5b works, but you need to be really fast. late edit: j.2c on a standing or crouching target is very hard to astral into, because you need to very low in the air in order to cancel the landing frames Edited October 28, 2011 by bakahyl
Toasty Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Now it's hard to say as of now how often an Astral scenario will present itself, but from what we know so far about its comboability, if conditions are met for an Astral it would be a very good option. I'm glad it's looking so practical, since I always enjoy ending the match with an Astral.
Vulcan422 Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 At least they're not IKs, which are almost totally useless except for Eddie's.
Zeron_X25 Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 At least they're not IKs, which are almost totally useless except for Eddie's. Ever heard of May?
Toasty Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Unblockable used in a match: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4b1qUXk1kug&t=3m06s It looked like there was plenty of time to get out of it but it worked since the Haku player must not have seen it coming. That setup looks like it has serious potential on wakeup, though.

It's a really scary setup for the opponent.

It's a really scary setup for the opponent. Yeah, that's the part. I accidentally posted the wrong time in the link (I was adding it to the video thread). Did you happen to see it used on wakeup at all?
Rishtopher Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 (edited) Yeah I'm pretty sure I did. I'll try and track it down for you for reference. I know it's on Jourdal's channel it was Shadow vs Jin, so I should be able to find it. I'll update this post with the vid. EDIT: Looks like I was mistaken, sorry to let you down Toasty What I actually saw was that setup used in for crossups in the corner, he uses it again in that vid at about 8:45 and pretty much every match lol. The other times, he's able to confirm the air attack into an unblockable crossup. Edited October 28, 2011 by Rishtopher
Toasty Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Don't worry about it, bro. I'm sure we'll see someone attempt it sometime in the future anyway. That crossup unblockable looks very useful since you get a nice corner combo into oki out of it as well.
