gli Posted December 19, 2011 Author Posted December 19, 2011 Okay, last video for now. This one is particularly useful since it deals with mashing. http://youtu.be/thPSN9GgWLc Probably doesn't have to be 5A; 2A will also work. Free 5C Fatal if you land this.
kirbster Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 God, had a casuals session tonight and it's so hard to play well with that thing... can't do dash 3c consistently, having trouble with QCF motions, air dashing... but I land lvl2 j.2c's fine o_O. I relapsed to pad for a couple of matches lol. I must be worthy of this amazing gift, but sometimes I fear I'll never get to my pad level >.< @Gli : another good idea IMO. If it's used properly... if there's one thing I learned at NEC, it was stagger pressure. Sometimes you just wanna mash out, and this looks like it might be useful for that. Rachel is not very good at it since her 5a is -2 on block, but it's still really hard to deal with (Xie's Platinum ).
[SpA]Relentless Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I actually saw that 5A > 5C stagger in a video a couple of times. I tried it once or twice and it failed so I forgot about it. Good to know it's actually not bad. You can also mix in a 5A > throw to fish for reject miss if you think they do 1ABC. kirbster don't worry, everyone that started out on stick had a hard time getting used to it. But once you're comfortable with it, you never want to go back Just need to grind basics hard in p-mode for some time. Also, if you want to stagger with less risk (but also less reward), you can do 2A > 2A with a slight pause inbetween. 2A is neutral on block so it's better than 5A for staggering.
Tari Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 2A > 2A stagger is unsafe to Noel D-mash. 2A > 6C is safe, but also doesn't reward you as well as 5C. 6C allows you to continue pressure if blocked, though. Also, that stick looks amazing, kirb. :D
kirbster Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Yeah, gotta experiment with that. I wish 5a was 5 frames again now, lol. Can't complain though. Oh and yeah Gli, I use type B... pretty standard stuff. Type A looks kinda awkward to RC with for me. A bunch of us from Montreal wanna go to EVO for sure next year, just gotta save up some money. I'm sure it's doable... I'd love to meet some of you there!
TD Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 5a 5c is -6. ib ruins this, as well as throw. trust me ive been doing this, 5a 6c and 5a 6b for about a month now. (granted, on netplay...) 5a 6b is probably the best frame trap. it stops everything from jumpouts to mashing. its only -2, -5 on ib so only dp's outright beat it : jump cancellable, many options after. 6b itself is unpunishable (-1) the only thing lve had trouble with is confirming it (you need a different combo route depending on how the foe reacts) 2/5a pressure is the new trend :o btw you can buffer 2d while 5a is getting blocked. the foe can see the down wind and expect a ja, likely. at this point you can ja, 2b, or dash throw.
LuminAbyss Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Disclaimer: Inferno Divider will win. That should be added to the video.
[SpA]Relentless Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 2A > 2A stagger is unsafe to Noel D-mash. Don't do it against mashy Noels then Against most other chars it's safe(ish), and is the better choice for pressure (2A 2A blocked, nothing happened. 5A 5C blocked, you're left in neutral state) in general. But as I said, damage won't be as high obviously.
gli Posted December 20, 2011 Author Posted December 20, 2011 @TD: Good points. Never thought of 6B. 5C nets a fatal so I was thinking if you are going to punish mashing, you might as well get a higher reward for it. You can always mix-up your options once you have done 5A > 5C or any variation of this. If they throw, setup TRM. If they DP, try for bait the next situation you get. Anyway, I was just getting annoyed with Makoto 2A mash so I did XA > 5C stuff. It's always good to have more options. @kirbster: Keep at it. EVO will be hype man
kro_ Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Good thing about Rags being top tier is that I get to listen to White Requiem a lot.
K2 Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 nice stick kirbster, lets go evo and form a rachel army
gli Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 Rachel army. It would be nice if it was neatly spread throughout all the pools lol.
Lufenia Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 am i the only rachel that still plays on pad. u_u and... i'm having way... WAYYYY too much fun with the snowflake thing on youtube. >_>;;
tofurr Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 I do, but I'll probably make the transition when I get the parts to my PS3 stick. I'm sick of my j.a IOH coming out as j.236a whenever I go for it on pad.
Tari Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 Get ready to be really annoyed by IAD inputs. :D
tofurr Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 I kind of already know how to play on a stick, so I don't usually have problems with that.
DSveno Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 am i the only rachel that still plays on pad. u_u I'm still playing on pad....until the day I can afford a good stick.
Lufenia Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 I'm still playing on pad....until the day I can afford a good stick. if i could afford a good stick i might switch too. xP i'd want glowy buttons. :c....
gli Posted December 23, 2011 Author Posted December 23, 2011 On XBL I use a TE. I prefer my HRAP3 though.
gli Posted December 23, 2011 Author Posted December 23, 2011 If you do get it, please do sound test recordings or something lol.
