Setsuna Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 Winterfest Blazblue won't be a main tournament game but were going to have casuals ... I don't believe theres any fees unless you decide to enter any of the main events.
Jyosua Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 That's what I thought, although I hear there's a $10 door fee.

Romeyurhomey Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 So yall I have a question in regards to training alone. Im practicing different combos using different starters, midscreen and in the corner, and with and without counter hit on them but sometimes I get alittle tired of experimenting which leads me to my question below. Is it a viable method to practice in training mode with the CPU on the highest difficult to practice my reaction to mixup's, cross up's and then also using this to practice punishing as well. I'm need to the training mode lab work so bare with me. Also another problem I have is how to practice my blockstrings, ideally how do I want to go about doing that. I would practice tech traps and find resets with noel. Also if you want to practice blockstrings try to record what you usually see people see and then replay it back and see if you can IB, backdash, counter or block properly.
Jyosua Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) I would practice tech traps and find resets with noel. Also if you want to practice blockstrings try to record what you usually see people see and then replay it back and see if you can IB, backdash, counter or block properly. That's hard to do without a good understanding of all the character's moves. Personally, I use netplay to learn block strings. I lose all the time, but I'm getting much better at defense because of it. Save your replays, and see which moves broke through your blockstring at which points. I realize, after saying this, that he was asking about playing alone, so I suppose this doesn't help in that. XD I don't use the CPU for training block strings because they're uber-predictable. They pretty much use the same strings over and over, and when those fail they use continual cross-ups. Edited January 14, 2012 by Jyosua
SansProtocol Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4J5wTCH1Kug I like the mash-up to the music (that Mighty Switch Force OST is godlike) but I'll leave this here. :3 Also, what you'll want to aim for with your blockstrings is to keep them rather tight and unpredictable. It's good to try to end most blockstrings with a relatively safe move as well. What you want to aim for is ways to test and eventually break your opponent's guard or keep pressure as safely as possible. You can do this with high/low mix-ups, tick throws, Guard Primer breaking, and cross-ups. Sometimes, the best thing to do is rapid-fire Noel's 5A as it will hit crouching opponents to see if they are blocking high or low then do the opposite.

I think I found a couple tech traps for Noel but I need to test them against someone ... I don't really know if it'll be a viable tech trap in training or how to figure out if it is or not. I'll try to it's hard for some things like your crazy Litchi play ... essentially I'll be learning another character to level up my own lol That's hard to do without a good understanding of all the character's moves. Personally, I use netplay to learn block strings. I lose all the time, but I'm getting much better at defense because of it. I normally use Netplay since thats all I have but there is no way in hell I'll be practicing right now ... US-JP Netplay is so UNBEARABLE ;-; Well with the CPU I set them to level 10 and I usually practice against full curse Arakune and just characters I have trouble blocking against like I did Litchi because of Romey. Also, what you'll want to aim for with your blockstrings is to keep them rather tight and unpredictable. It's good to try to end most blockstrings with a relatively safe move as well. I'm trying to train myself to do that, as far as blockstrings go their almost nonexistent with me ... when I mess it up I fail and resort back to my scrub tactics. Whenever I have the chance to play with someone I want to try to apply my strings I've been practicing so I can master it a bit better.
Kurushii Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Im willing to do some matches tonight when I get off work against you Azure.

Kurushii Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Can I play with you guys too? I'd like more practice as well. Yea that's fine. Have you stopped mashing sekkajin everywhere yet? :3
Jyosua Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Yea that's fine. Have you stopped mashing sekkajin everywhere yet? :3 Trying real hard. It's a bad habit for me to just mash C when I can't decide what move to use on someone blocking. Unless you watched my uploads, you don't even know how bad it used to be. XD
pktazn Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Learn how to block like me :33333 trolololol.gif
Romeyurhomey Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Learn how to block like me :33333 trolololol.gif Best fucking comment ever. In all seriousness, PK has nigga-like defense when running from the police.
Jyosua Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Hey Kuru and Azure, I'll be on in like 45 minutes
Demon Wind Bomb Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 So I got a chance to try Extend today thanks to the players in Boca. I'm really interested to see what I can do with Extend Noel but she seems pretty interesting, all things considered. But it looks like I'll have to find new resets because none of my old ones work.

Demon Wind Bomb Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 When you discover them let me know ;D I will. But I'll only get to play it on Fridays. Next Friday I'm gonna try to get familiar with Noel's new combos.

Jyosua Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Today was fun. It was nice meeting a bunch of you, and I might've picked up a few useful things at least.
Romeyurhomey Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 It was nice meeting you as well.. Hopefully you had a good time and didn't think we were too harsh at you.
