I think in this matchup relius is at a disadvantage overall. This is due to hazamas relatively safe normals at close range and his ( if used well) safe entry with oraboros. This matchup isn't a complete shut out though, relius needs to use ignus to her fullest here, baiting hazamas counters on air incoming and forcing him to charge in at range and avoiding his oraboros and then hitting while he's open. Using good spacing while applying pressure is also important so as to avoid his reversals. Overall Hazama is in favor but relius can win if he can stay calm and patient, being over zealous is going to be the greatest weakness for the relius player.

You can actually shut down a lot of his ground approaches by just using Lanto to kill his snakes.

Ya that can work but I think your better off baiting the snake to get in on him, the only way to realy win this match is to be patient and let hazama make the mistake, if you play a distance game you will just end up getting hit and its going to be hard to get a reversal on a smart hazama. But to frustrate the hazama its definitely useful to use lanto until he tries to come in in a way that leaves you in a good position to punish.

I think you want to be past his 3C whiff range for this match. At that distance, your Lanto is much better than his snakes and so should lead to a safe approach into pressure. When you get in, just play against him like you would against any character with a DP. His pressure isn't really anything special so for the most part you're just watching out for the overhead or the command grab.

I agree that you definitely do not want to play a zoning game against a character who's very good against zoners. Plus it's not like Relius really has a lot of zoning tools.

I agree, keeping at that 3c whiff range is the goal in pressure in this matchup, but i don't think you should underestimate his pressure at point blank range, its not amazing but relius doesn't have the same tools to get out well. The frames on most of hazamas moves don't leave him open to a 236a turn around. Also if you can get ignus out its important to keep her out as much as possible, hazama doesn't have a hard time getting small hits in. It's definitely important to know when to back off though, this isn't a matchup where staying in hazamas face is a good idea.

If you bait hazama's chain, with Ignis out you can Led Ley, 6D and if they chose the D follow up, you'll counter hit. I'm currently testing out this matchup. I know you can't really counter hit him out of 214DC but your 5A will work nicely against 214DA. Don't mash anything out during a block string, cause 2B, 3C is a frame trap and will beat whatever you do. For this matchup, I recommend getting away from hazama long enough to get Ignis out. then wait for him to come flying in

I remember using Lanto at match start against a Hazama once.

Literally just chained /precisely/ around it into my face. I was pretty rattled.
