I'm not exactly how much recover frames 236a has but I'm pretty sure you can't jump of backdash for a short amount of time. Howeever, if you hav ignis out then there are no worries as you can make the move safe with 6d. It all really depends on when tager does 5a

It has like 4 or 5 frames of recovery after the 33 frames of invul. You can be grabbed free cause you are in CH state. You only want to do it if you have Ignis Active or the opponents attack that is going to whiff has more than 30+ frames of recovery (or puts them far through you) so that you don't get punished. It's a universal rule all Relius's have to live by.

Otherwise, he can just input a 720 and go straight though. He can also Sledge as well, if he doesn't have any meter. This is not unique to Tager too, Bang can Ashura, Ragna can DP, etc. But their's don't take half of Relius' life like Tager can. Edited February 2, 2012 by Tae Seong Kim

Arifureta Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I see. I usually start crying when I end up in a Tager blockstring. Though I think IB Barrier + back step is still the best way out of a lot of his pressure so I like doing that instead of trying to sneak in a reversal.
unsanctifier Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 i am almost clueless in this matchup, all i can do to open tager is air mixups ignis 2D can be backdashed before the second hit MTW is annoying can't zone with doll you can bait sledge (as usual) and punish with CH but once your opponent gets wise to that i'm really loose on options q.q
Arifureta Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 Isn't his backdash punishable? I feel like you want to be at 5B range for most of this match instead of straight up just trying to zone. It's long enough that he has no suitable answers for it.

Tae Seong Kim Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 Arifureta's suggestion is great, just poke at him with 5B. Tager's 5D is very slow and should not be a problem when it comes to zoning. Just stay just out of his A buster/720 range and you will be fine. Don't do this if you are magnetized btw, for obvious reasons. Also, if the person you are playing against keeps backdashing the second hit of your 2D. Then just wait for him to backdash it and hit him during his recovery. Call him out, make him stop backdashing it.

If you get emergency teched via Gadget finger a quick JA actually helps a lot as long as you don't overuse it. I've also managed to beat collider by jumping in with JA. If someone else can test this just to make sure I'm not a luckbag I'd appreciate it
