Match Summary

As promised, here are a few little details about this matchup that I picked up fighting a very good Noel for about 50 games earlier this week:

1. This is the big one, Led Ley is particularly bad in this matchup, never under any circumstances use it without Ignis out. As Noel relies on stagger pressure using various A, B and C normals (the former which have rather low recovery time) the chances are that you are going to be punished for using it without Ignis active are very high.

2. Her 4d is absolutely absurd now, it goes through anything that aren't lows/moves that hit below the knees or throws. ANYTHING. It also leads into big damage anywhere on the screen and on fatal it's worth using a burst. What I tried to do is keep to using 2b or 3c whenever I was pressuring her with Ignis in order to scare her into not using 4d so that you can pressure 'normally'. CH 3c goes into big damage and is relatively safe on block so don't be afraid to throw it out if you think the noel is getting too comfortable with 4d. It's also worth noting that 4d also beats a raw jump>airdash>J.b>J.c cleanly.

3. 2d can also be another potential problem, it hops over moves that hit below the waist/knees and so pressuring her on wakeup without Ignis/pressuring her generally without Ignis turns into a guessing game between 4d and 2d. The better part about this move is that it goes into less damage than 4d on hit. 6d will beat this move and also score a counter hit which you can confirm into good damage, so pressuring with lows>6d covers both 4d and 2d reasonably well. On block it is easy to punish with throw/2a if she follows up with a forward moving drive move or dash 2b if she chooses to 4d. Be wary of assault through though, if she does this after 2d, block and punish for free.

4. Her fast dash can make it hard to get Ignis out safely at neutral.

5. In this and the Lambda matchup it is more unsafe to try and summon Ignis whilst airborne if you are even remotely close to her. Her airthrow range is huge and leads into good damage midscreen and even better in the corner, so try to get Ignis out safely at a good distance on the ground. That being said, her air-air game is pretty darn weak and your neutral game is arguably better than hers as well, especially with Ignis out.

6. Her pressure can be a tad tricky to get out of without Ignis at your back due to our rather slow A normals. Luckily, her 2c is now only +1 on block so it is now possible to mash out of some strings which may have been impossible in CS2, and even easier on IB. From my experience, my 2a beat 2c>dash 2a and a few others which I will dig up later on. Respect 2a>delay 2a though, it's pretty solid. With Ignis out it is much safer to use Ley and to turn the tides in your favour. Do be careful of 2c>delay>5c as a frametrap to bait mashing/IB, it hurts like a bitch.

Honestly i'm seeing this as 5-5 at best, 4.5-5.5 Noel at worst.

If I remember anything else I'll make sure to edit this post. If anyone else more experienced would like to change anything please do.

Just a note, 4D won't beat out foot-property moves, either, it doesn't necessarily have to be a low, so Relius' 2A will also beat Noel out of 4D, I dunno enough about Relius' moves to know if he has any others that fit this quality, though :x

This is true. I have had 4D beaten by a lot of things that were not necessarily lows.

Random fact: Relius' 5B misses Noel while she is crouching. /boggle
