solidscheme Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Looking for players around the boston area to start up a community for blazblue. no more playing around. i'm a long-time member of SRK known as grandabx. after seeing that the best fighter currently available(imo) wasn't going to be a main attraction at evo 2k12, it hit me hard. this game has waaaay too much going for it to be ignored. so all of you net-players and offliners from boston and the surrounding areas please post here and join me in getting our game into the fighting game spotlight. there's work to do.

Be sure to check it out and post up in there. There are a handful of BB/GG players in the Boston area. We have a few active locations where we meet for casuals. The closest to you would probably be in Ludlow, MA. Regardless, welcome to Dustloop!

Noisetank hosts GG every week mostly. But yeah, I'm here too, I play GG, BB, MB, KOF13, and I have a copy of T6, and UMvC3 that I don't play but own nonetheless in case I find someone who does. I'd prefer to use this thread for Boston/MA honestly just because the NE thread is mostly CT+whoever else wants to go to CT and bothering someone from that far out might be too much trouble. No offense really, I already know why it's like that and the CT guys are pretty cool, having met some of them at the Mindhaus and at NEC. Anywho, nice to see we have some life in Boston. EDIT: I looked at the numbers and we have about 6 or maybe more players of any game from what sounds like the general Boston area, let's try to organize a meetup and get to know each other? We'll need to decide on a day and place. I may try and head down to that venue posted a few posts ago if I can reach it sometime. Dear Boston thread (solidscheme included), I visited the Brain box today with a friend of mine. I was promised a section and possibly a room at the brain box for anime games alike, and our group, aka the Boston scene if I can bring more people to come. I am suggesting that we ALL show up on the same day to show that we mean business so we can get ourselves our own space (they have a room in the basement that they're going to hook up with ASUS monitors and CRTs so we can play our ps3/360 hd fighters and have our Gear setups and what not). I am heading over there again on Saturday with my friend and another one of my other friends and a friend of his hopefully. If you want to support your scene and mean business, try as hard as you can to show up this Saturday. The more people, the bigger chance we have. If we can't all make it on Saturday, we have to find a day where we all can. As far as setups go, they had a ps2 with CvS2, and SF:A. On PS3 they had KOF13 (because I brought it) and I'm sure we could get BB and other fighters there, I have no problem bringing my disc(though it may be a better idea to wait for Extend since we'd have to patch it somehow and I am unsure of internet at the venue). They also had UMvC3 and AE on 360. We can make a scene here, but it'll only work if we all support the scene. Edited January 19, 2012 by Troll Badguy

Mindgam3 Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 This ought to be renamed the MA thread, considering that the NE thread has, as Dio mentioned, become just CT and a sprinkling of everything else. You might be able to include every other NE state as well (NH, VT, ME), since it seems that their activity is sporadic at best. As such, the first post ought to be updated with information on places that you can meet, such as Brainbox. Does Game Underground in Framingham attract any amount of GG or BB?

I'm going to check out that venue posted today. ping plays blazblue and i think he's playing kof 13 his name on here is pingas, but he rarely posts. i'm in NH but i'm about an hour away from boston, i usually have the weekends free, so with a fair amount of notice(usually two days before hand) i could make it out there.

I'm counting 3 people (3 guilty gear players) on showing up guaranteed, no word from anyone else on here yet though. I will be bringing BB, GG, KOF13, and UMvC3 (all PS3) if anyone is wondering or if anyone is on the fence about it. If you do make it out to the Brain Box ask for TrollBadguy/Luis, that would be me. Ultimate Gaming Spot 529 Providence Highway Dedham, MA 02021 (857) 247-4180 $5 Venue Fee Thursday and Saturday Fight Nights All day passes available everyday as well for $5 They have a KOF xiii scene, i'm not sure about BB Here is the low down on the BOSTON scene There are 2 places in Boston MA (1 technically not Boston but close enough) in case anybody is interested in Anime casuals Brain Box - 383 Centre Street (JP area is what us Bostonians call "jamaica plain" Also, there is UGS (Ultimate gaming spot) in Dedham MA, which is borderline Hyde park/ West Roxbury BOTH areas do not have BB or GG setups, so we would have to bring our own. The Anime Fighting Game community I went to Brain box yesterday for casuals, and they had no BB set-up, so I talked with Amar and I told him that I would bring my 360 in with the CS2 update, since using CS1 Carl was awkward. If anybody plays BB on xbox, I will try to go there on Fridays and Maybe the weekends. As for the community itself, I was thinking about donating a BB extend to either site, or maybe both. Maybe if we all chipped in (5 dollars would do) we could buy at least 2 copies of the game. This would be the first step into showing how serious the community is about reviving this genre in the Boston Area. Are you guys really ready? I don't know, but I'm glad I met some people yesterday who were at least interested in playing/learning Blazblue, that being said why don't we make it appeal to them more. Granabx and Troll-bad guy thank you for your support. It's good to see some people in the community in Boston getting together. As I said before, I would have no problem bringing my 360 down to brain box, and I might even ask Gill (Dedham site leader) if I can do the same at his spot. One being the fact that the other local meet ups in the Mass Area are too spread out (Fall river, GU,) Plus Boston is the heart of Massachusetts, it deserves its own thread, and there are a lot of players in the Boston area who would probably prefer to play here, since they don't want to travel so far (its perfectly fine, and yes we all know true hard core fans would travel MA to play, but let's face it there needs to be a stronger community first) Ok I'm done lol BB/GG/Skull girls need a home
Troll Badguy Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Sinder, I have a PS2>360 converter so I can play you in BB on 360. As far as BB goes, I'm waiting til american release of extend if anything but I'd be down to play and maybe even donate for a copy if we really want one that badly. I went to the Brainbox again on Saturday and they really do have a lot of space, enough space for us anime game players to call home, if we all show up there. I can run pools and do brackets for things, you guys really just need to show up. I am going to remake this thread with all the info compiled into the first post with updated Brainbox info, since what's on SRK is outdated. Our working day out of low numbers of marvel/SF players and therefore more setups to be used for other games is Saturday. I'm primarily a PS3 player, but I can do 360 games too because of that converter. That being said, Saturday, January 28th the Saturday after that which is Feb 4th, show up to Brainbox so we can get a head count of how many people we have and for what games. I'll bring my KOF13, BB(and converter, someone needs to bring 360 BB, since there is none for 360 iirc) and GG. We're slowly getting people to show up. At Brain Box, 383a Centre St. JP. We will be having 8 different games, Cash prizes and more. Come join us, doors open at 1pm tournament starts at 2pm. $10 to play $5 for venue fee.
