Mariodood Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 How do I mixup players with really good reaction time? When I went to the arcade this weekend and fought good players they reacted to all of my 6Ks, crossup dashes, etc..after leaving I noticed I didn't bite very much and that probably could have netted me some extra damage..but bite is kind of low damage IMO. The only guaranteed combo off it only does 70. When you guys fight people who can react to 6K every time, what do you do? Do you use 6k fake?

The only guaranteed combo off it only does 70. When you guys fight people who can react to 6K every time, what do you do? Do you use 6k fake? 6K is an awesome mixup tool, but it only gets you so far. People almost always expect it, especially on wake-up. Crossup dash doesn't really do much against seasoned players. If you really can't beat their reaction time, it's time to start using mindgames. Here are some examples: -6K feint: can definitely throw even the best players off. Gives you 2K, a throw, or a bite. -2K: if you spam 6K, it conditions your opponent to block high on wake up. Twitch and throw a 2K as oki to make them guess. -meaty 2S: has a deceptive amount of active frames (see kug's parlor trick thread for more info) -mappa feint: once again, if you end your blockstrings with something like 2S > mappa or just throw out mappas smartly, your opponent will be conditioned to block upon seeing them. Go ahead and mappa feint into throw, but use it sparingly because you will be punished if they see it coming. -dandy conditioning: dandy S mindgames are awesome. There are so many options...whiffing dandy S into HS, dandy S into delayed HS, dandy S into 2K, dandy S just to test the waters, etc. etc. I use dandy HS oki a lot. After a while, my opponents permanently block high (between that and 6K), so you can empty dandy and 2K. -dandy empty: once you get your opponent scared you can just K dandy right into their face and throw. -dandy FRC: is something not used as much, but if you can implement this into your game you're doing pretty good. Most common followup I see is a 2H to try and catch whiffed moves. -dash > throw: simple as it sounds. If they're scared of your 6K and blocking, send em to the ground. -bite: same deal with dash > throw. Hope this helps. Vary it up a bit.
ajinkris Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 Err... can't you bite and BBU? Yea you can, it just prorates a crapton. (assuming they don't have lvl 3 wiggle)
Zaido Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 i kind of stopped Bite -> BBU cause peopel i play can wiggle out :/... lol.... i just do Bite -> 2K -> 2D or 2H DOT!!! if it kills :V.. rofl..
Mariodood Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Right I don't do Bite->BBU for fear of wigglers..so what else do I have?
rtl42 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 When you guys fight people who can react to 6K every time, what do you do? Do you use 6k fake? Use your other mix-ups :o And don't forget, besides high/low, there's always strike/throw.
ROM- Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Right I don't do Bite->BBU for fear of wigglers..so what else do I have? bite -> dash in -> bite
LB Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 bite does more damage than regular throw plus leads to knockdown. what's so bad about that? and you get life back which actually helps out a lot in clutch situations. just don't be so blantently obvious like i am when you bite and you'll be fine.
CrimsonDisaster Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 You can also do like, bite -> DoT FRC -> combo if you REALLY need to score some damage and can't break their defense any other way D:

Zaido Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 You can also do like, bite -> DoT FRC -> combo if you REALLY need to score some damage and can't break their defense any other way D: just like that one match where Hase did a 1/4 life dmg combo off a bite with DOT FRC!! In General: Bite is good, but the variety is limited...BUT.. those FRC ones are really hard to see coming! something like 6H FRC BITE or 6P(they block) FRC FDC Bite 5S Dandy P FRC FDC BITE or they on the corner knockdowned FDC DANDY P FRC Bite (this one is wierd.. cause you probalby think ur out of range of bite but it will still grab them in!)

Neophos Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 In the Slayer combos in Phantasm Infinity, Slayer does cS xx Crosswise heel on Potemkin, however... c.S 20F hitstun on standing hit Dandy Step (P) From frame 16 till end of move, can be cancelled into follow ups. Crosswise Heel Startup: 6 Just how does this work? Obviously it does work, since it's in the video, but what part of the frame data am I reading wrong, or what kind of magic allows you to cancel into follow ups from dandy step earlier?
Yonasu Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Potemkin is in crouching state in the video, and crouching state adds a couple of frames of hitstun (not sure how many). Its the same reason why 5k -> 6p works on crouchers but not on standing.

rtl42 Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 crouching adds one frame of stun. it's in the player's guide, under the charts only section.
MacArthur Blunts Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Oh man the bite setups... most common: 2P FDC Bite 2P FDC P Dandy FRC FDC Bite 6HS FRC Bite SEECRIT SETUP: WHIFF 2S oki BITE LOL BLATANTLY STAND IN THROW RANGE FOR OKI BDC BITE their 6HS~! LOL Pretty much, here is how to get a good bite in.. Poke with P's until they get hit and then bite them.
Villainous Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Poke with P's until they get hit and then bite them. Troof! As far as mix ups go, if you're somehow facing someone that can deal with Slayer's 4 way mix up perfectly on wake up, which I've never ran into, generally that person is so focused on what level to block that a throw setup is pretty easy to land. But generally on wake up 2K 6K or dash through 2K or 6K does wonders. Depending on how much time you have you can dash through multiple times, but especially vs. people that like to uppercut, dashing through can fuck up their inputs. Once people start getting bitten a lot, they're blocking on wake up will start to become less than perfect because they begin to doubt themselves.
koogy Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 also, backdash occasionally as a mix-up. they won't be able to tell, and generally will throw a HS trying to throw you. then cancel into a mappa CH -> BBU
B.L. Pancho Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Im having difficulty finding top japanese slayers. Could anyone be gracious enough to identify the top Japanese slayers so that I can look them up on youtube for some match vids? Thx.

Hase-Watch as your life disappears in thin air and he is unblockable ZR- I like his style. I dont know why... Tsujikawa- He is also delicious with combos Kami-chan, Sawa etc. Hehe i swear just type "Slayer rape Accent Core" you will find stuff lol.
