And then immediately loses to the Tager he's been beating into the ground all night with Relius. That made my day. I'd appreciate it if you'd both stop taking away from the one win I almost feel good about. I dunno if you're on here Hombre but you really should go for 720 more often. Both Lunar and I have done lots of stupid shit that you coulda 720ed our asses. I am, but when it deigns to come out, I usually get punished for it, so I just hold that in my back pocket to be used... sometime.

Mucky can help you with that. His kung fu is strong. As a serious tip, try spinning the stick while blocking (but not mashing the button). That way you can just push C at the right moment to 720. Once you get good at doing that you can use it more precisely without getting punished for mashing it. When you see Tagers get random IBs while blocking that usually means they're doing just that. Or you can just play like Mucky and mash that shit and let netplay take care of the technicalities. p.s. sledge is a really bad idea against Jin. Edited May 5, 2013 by Ctrlaltwtf

Sledge is useful enough against Relius because when he uses an Ignis Special move he's always vulnerable, unlike Carl. Ignis doesn't have any attacks that are High or Low that aren't Specials (apart from jump attacks, obviously) Be careful with it during footsies though, because IAD Relius j.A is like a hard counter for Sledge. You should stop mashing A on neutral. I know it stuufs a lot of approaches but you can't really do anything more after those three hits. I also noticed you use that overhead/low sweeping move a lot in your mixup. Personally I wouldn't unless I was prepared to eat a 5b. There are too many recovery frames and it's too predictable to be of any use. Also try not to grab as much either, and 3c is a nono against Relius. I didn't punish you for it because I wasn't fishing for it but after the first roll I can just smack you with 5c and get a free 3k. Otherwise you've improved a lot since we last fought. Keep practicing that mixup and pretty soon you'll be scary like Gold.

I'm trying to stop just mashing DP constantly because that's...well...hit or miss really. It seems like he can just do what he wants until the Ignis gauge runs out. But damn that takes a long time. I meant to record one of our matches and figure out when I should DP...but I doofed.

Lunar_Divider Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Relius' pressure and mixup is like Carl's frame trap and moving wall gimmick. Only advice I can give you without spoiling the matchup is to not get caught. Also training and reading up on his frame data helps.
