It's not so much that Baiken's hard, just that Jam's one of the easier characters in the game to pick up and play. We were discussing this on the stream, haha. Jam's got really good, easy combos that lead to high damage, the thing that actually determines if you want to keep playing her though is when you fight at a higher level and have to deal with spacing.

And also, when grand finals is a Bridget v. Johnny (good shit Mahouko and Ahmaad), I don't think "character quality" really matters at these events ;3

I wanted to see Stream chat and reverse streammonster you guys (I even brought a can of SWAGGER) but I got the feeling they wanted me nowhere near the setup. Next time I wanna do commentary. :P

I was there, those two are monsters. At least I fought people closer to the level I wanted to play without them being monsters.

Yes, I do wish to learn spacing. One of the things I don't get yet are how to deal with people that want Jam FAR FAR FAR away or try to bully the shit out of her because I am not good at defending myself. I'd like to figure it out, but I think I'd do better with some coaching.

My favorite thing I've heard: "Your Jam is a mindfuck." :D These things keep me going.

Once I learn how to do it on Jam, then Litchi and maybe Baiken and Bang will improve.

GG to everyone I played and shoutouts to everyone's high damage starters turned to like 2k. Next time we should Calibrate the t.v's before starting anything. People were dropping ragna combos so you know something was terribly wrong.

Can I blame the TV for not button checking?

100% the TV's fault. It was a conspiracy against all Wahh~gna players. :kitty:

On another note: When do these usually take place? I know someone I was talking to said monthly, but when is it usually in the month? It'd be nice to know a time frame in order to plot and plan.

Judging by previous dates, looks like its generally the later half of the month. I quickly scanned over the Tourney Results subforum and found TSB result postings for these dates:

9/17/2011

10/29/2011

11/26/2011

12/17/2011 [GG was the only airdasher played on this day]

1/28/2012

I was really frigging tired and really bent out of shape by the time I drove home last night, so I decided to wait until today to write what I thought of my trip so I could do it with a clear head:

I had spent the entire morning traveling, and even though I arrived hideously early (I should have hung out in Manhattan - no offense brooklynites, but you have no places to chill), I had nothing to do but wait.

I was welcome, and it seems I didn't catch as much shit as I thought I would, but I was very disappointed with myself. I didn't learn a damn thing, I played very badly - even for me - and I played 8 times in the 8+ hours I was there. I didn't play enough, I didn't win enough, and I don't think I fit in with you guys' culture at all. From the feel of things, I don't think I belong at a local arcade.

Aside from that, I am already pretty concerned for losing my hearing, and I don't think the arcade helped that. (I don't really like loud places) Seeing myself on stream, I looked like hell. Maybe I'll get Earplugs? That's silly.

Going home, I got lost, which isn't a big deal, but I really spent the rest of the night tired and thinking about a lot.

So - How would I rate it? It was okay. Would I go again? Not without changing a lot of things, and I probably wouldn't stay as long.

bacon is not hard, you just have to turtle as this is the most effective way to play her.... with jam you cant really turtle even though she has a parry cause jam really cant take a hit plus shes a light character (not to say bacon can take a hit either, cuz she bleeds)so like all at least half the cast can do silly combos on her....so sad i missed this :gonk:

@Star-Demon:

This is where familiarity comes into play. When you get familiar with the names, the faces, the environment, it doesn't feel as awkward.

I've been to NL 3 times now. First time I didn't do anything or speak to anyone. All I did was walk in, watch for maybe an hour, then bounce. Second time, I went, played maybe 4-5 matches, got completely bodied, stayed quiet the rest of the time mostly due to being frustrated with how I did. Third time was yesterday, had fun, got to speak up a bit more, enjoyed my stay from start to finish, but the big difference was knowing some of the people there.

You might've enjoyed it a bit more if you had tagged along with some of us. The car rides were entertaining enough to break the ice.

Lol i talked to the people i was "sort of" familiar with like SKD, and Omni at first but no one is going to be rude to you i'd like to think. Then you have Lich who i've never even spoken to on DL and we hit it off great :V. I would say i had an advantage because everyone knows me due to the YT thing...but everyone knows who you are as well Star....

I'll be hiding in the corner when I manage to go next event. :(

My shoutouts are late but they are shoutouts nonetheless!

Shoutouts to Dai for hosting this kick ass event.

Shoutouts to Jourdal for being one of the chillest people I've ever met.

Shoutouts to Gio and his annoying character.

Shoutouts to SKD for trying to pick up stick.

Shoutouts to Star-Demon for trooping his way down to the arcade then waiting for 3 hours. Good shit. haha

Shoutouts to Omni for winning the shit. Good job man I wish I got to play you.

Oh and shoutouts to Ben for bringing me that stick that had a built in table. Haha. I mean I didn't need it but that was real tight of you to bring that shit out for me. Thank you sah.

Other than that I didn't really get to interact with too many people for too long cuz I had to dip early. =[ Though, next time I'll be there all day and I'd love to get in more matches with you guys. Our local is godlike.
