Chazmobile Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Needless arguments lose 10-0 to Monty Python.
Kujikawa Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I understand what your saying. My meaning of cheap can be applied to everyone, I know. I mean if I fought your Ragna all the time and no one else, I would not call him cheap. It mostly is just from salt after fighting players that you know you are better then but yet you feel you can put twice as much effort in and yet they can still prevail because of their character. I can see why people try and make it look like mindless 5Bs gives you wins. It doesn't and I know that, it's hard to explain in words what I'm trying to say. To theory, Valkenhayn, Arakune, Ragna and Hakumen are all cheap. But I can't really tell the different between cheap and good. It just feels like we're debating who's top tier. Like I said it's really hard to explain what point I'm trying to get across. BB is pretty balanced. to say Ragna is not cheap is to say no one in the game is cheap. Tbh what does cheap even actually mean? It seems like it just means "good character".
-Seo Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I can assure you that you will do a lot better if you picked Ragna rather then if you picked Arakune, Hakumen or even Taokaka. God why.
Kujikawa Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 (edited) God why. I meant as in first time. Not as a complete main. EDIT: Put it this way. I'm not trying to say if you pick Ragna you will win all the tournaments in the world. I'm not saying that you will be able to beat top players with little effort if you main Ragna. I'm not saying that 5B is some amazing poke that you can spam and win with, I'm not saying you don't have to think at all in EVO final and still win with Ragna. I'm trying to say that he is easy for a beginner to pick up and be able to do well with. Easy - Cheap - Annoying whatever it's called, that's all I'm saying. Edited August 31, 2012 by Kujikawa
-Seo Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Still, a beginner is a beginner regardless. If you have atleast a decent amount of knowledge about your own character, you really shouldn't have any problems. In other news, Ornstein and Smough are wrecking my shit on Dark Souls, wat do?
Kujikawa Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Get someone to help you. I find Dark Souls much more fun with friends anyway...
Fistmaster049 Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 So lyk..it takes no brain to use Ragna? But you see, there Is a difference between scrubby Ragna's and mine. I don't know what gives people the impression that we don't need to think whilst using Ragna, there is so much more to him than just letting loose on 5B and ID. Fair enough he is easy to use blah blah blah, but he isn't cheap. I'm sorry symm..but your definition of cheap is kinda stupid. If you say that annoying and cheap are similar, then I guess it's safe to assume that the whole cast of BB is cheap, since everyone is annoying in their own way. Tager is annoying, but he isn't cheap. Tao is annoying, but she's not cheap. Your definition of cheap may need reviewing. Now..half you whelps that seem to complain about Ragna, don't seem to know the first thing about him, I'll enlighten you all. 1. Ragna is not better than Jin in every way. The match up is hard to put figures on, but it seems more in jin's favour. He has better field control. Damage is not the only factor that determines a match up. Most of you have the stupid mentallity that "Oh, Ragna does more damage than this character, do it must be in ragna's favour". So much BS. 2. Ragna's mix-up is not "decent", it fucking sucks. He is like one of the worst characters in that respect. 3. Ragna's pressure has many holes in it. Most of you say it's good, because you lack the knowledge of when to disrespect and poke him out. It's funny how most of you think you know the first thing about Ragna, when you don't even use him. Yeah he has decent pokes, I agree, but there are Much "cheaper" characters in the game like valk, who gets you in the corner with any hit, good heat gain, beastly mix up, and good damage. Now, if Ragna is so cheap..what does that make valk? Most of the time you guys complain about Ragna, it's just salt..from having lost to one or just hatred. Know what you are talking about when it comes to Ragna in the future, because I will challenge any and every comment you make about him. This talk about Ragna IS getting redundant, it's getting annoying well said bro In other news, Ornstein and Smough are wrecking my shit on Dark Souls, wat do? summon a friend or two along with sunbro and/or take advantage of their weaknesses, Smough: Lightning Ornstien: anything but lightning really lol
Chazmobile Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 To beat Ornstein and Smough you man the fuck up and take on both of them without help. Position Smough in front of Ornstein and use the pillars as cover. Also make sure to manage your Estus so you have enough for the super form afterwards. They're both super resistant to lightning IIRC so you're better going with either high physical or fire (possibly magic too but i've never dabbled in it).
Kriegdrache Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Still, a beginner is a beginner regardless. If you have atleast a decent amount of knowledge about your own character, you really shouldn't have any problems. In other news, Ornstein and Smough are wrecking my shit on Dark Souls, wat do? Kill smalls first, biggie is a little easier to defeat on his own imo, except he gets the lightning Zweihammer +5 and he REALLY wants to show it off.
Fistmaster049 Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Kill smalls first, biggie is a little easier to defeat on his own imo, except he gets the lightning Zweihammer +5 and he REALLY wants to show it off. Personally I always found Super Ornstein easier due to the fact he only has two attacks that hit up close and both are easily dodged with a well timed roll only problem is keeping him off you while you kill Smough
DlanorRachel Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I could never summon anyone to help me my first time through dark souls, it just felt, and I mean no offence, the cheap way out for comparison after I beat them the first time, I went back to the boss entrance and set up my summon sign to help someone else out, and when we fought them, it just felt ten times easier, and this is just after I had beat them myself, so it's not like I was really any stronger
-Seo Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Get someone to help you. I find Dark Souls much more fun with friends anyway... I HAVE NO FRIENDS ;-; I did almost take them down on my first try, took out Ornstein pretty nicely, then got destroyed by Smough. Every attempt after that has been pretty terrible. I haven't summoned anyone to help me with a boss so far, was kinda hoping to keep it that way, but if it comes to it after a few more attempts, I suppose there's no helping it. I keep forgetting that this game has extra content as well, the main game itself already feels so packed.

Darret_Wallace Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Mu > Ragna I got tales of graces in the post today, my weekend will consist of that and relius.
-Seo Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 If you didn't have some crazy hi-spec PC and had DkS on Xbox, Chaz, Gecko, Fist or even me could of helped you :3 It's GFWL, so it may be cross-platform? I'm not sure honestly though. Mu > Ragna I got tales of graces in the post today, my weekend will consist of that and relius. Fuck Mu, I hope she stays gone. Got Graces F today as well. I had completely forgotten how annoying childhood is. It's KH2 Twilight Town all over again.

I had completely forgotten how annoying childhood is. It's KH2 Twilight Town all over again. I really think mu is the best character in the game, i can't think of anything she's bad at, plus she has one of the best overheads in the game. Starting tales of graces now, i have high hopes, if it's even half as good as vesperia i'll love it.
-Seo Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Why I don't think she's the single best in the game, I honestly think she's easily one of the best in Extend. Fighting a good Mu feels alot worse than fighting a good Valk or Arakune. Don't let the first two hours or so of Graces put you off, it does start to pick up eventually, but just kinda slowly.
YukiBlue Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 People slept on Mu so hard despite her being a complete freight train of a character. Doing 8K from a Braindead FC combo felt so good~ (Then again getting countered by anything usually meaant 50%) Her overhead was ass though. You could block it like Valk's 6C. IE with all the time in the world.
Starlight777 Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Plus unlike Ragna, fighting her means I have to navigate through a swarm of lasers. At least Ragna will get close enough for me to hit him.
Kriegdrache Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Hakumen vs Mu is fun as fuck, Im not gonna lie.
WolfCrimson Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Hakumen vs Mu is fun as fuck, Im not gonna lie. Fumajin ALL the lasers!
YukiBlue Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 I'd much Rather fight Mu, to be honest. I think my hatred of Ragna is a personal one, really. *Beware. Opinions incoming. Prepare yourselves* Ragna is a very simple character to play. You can pick him up very quickly, and learn the basics thoroughly in around an hour of Lab work. Due to this, he is the most played character on XBL and PSN by a country mile. People played him regardless of his place on the Tier list, same as anyone would for any character, this may be due to liking the character, or simply wanting to have a simple character to use combo-wise in order to focus on fundamentals. However. When Extend hit, This massively played character became the best in the game. (Consensus opinion you may disagree, Whatever.) This was due to his massive overall damage output. Now you could say that Mu, Valk and maybe even Hakumen equalled or surpassed his damage (Mu and Valk easily) But Ragna's main strength was how he could garner all of this damage from more or less anything. 5B Crouching 5B AA 6B Crouching Corner Throw 3C / 5C / 6A / j.C / j.D / GH - CH/RC And I'm sure I missed some. Couple this with his library of godlike pokes, Superb AA game and incredible defensive options such as ID. And you have a recipe for a character I hate. Simple as that. The fact of the matter is this is my opinion, I don't mind Valk or Mu, I don't think Hakumen is that bad (Jokes. I do. But that's just matchup salt) I just think Ragna is worse. Feel free to ignore me. But I just wanted to share with people.
Kujikawa Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 (edited) Mu > Ragna I got tales of graces in the post today, my weekend will consist of that and relius. Dude... MINE HASN'T COME YET! Where did you order yours from? EDIT: Crawley Royal Mail.... ='( does in transit mean it's in a van? It said it is already in Crawley, might go pick it up. EDIT 2: "1 Sep 2012 07:27:17 AM Crawley - Out for delivery" So it's been in a van for like 5 hours? wtfwtfwtfwtf. I'm mad I want my money back. I paid good money for 1 day postage. EDIT 3: Nevermind it came through the post just now along with 3 new Xbox headsets. Edited September 1, 2012 by Kujikawa
