People should enter Gundam. I received some 6ish free Gundam models and I'll give them away to people who enter. Don't expect any higher grade models though. I'll try to take a picture of them later.

@ShelledMenace: Thanks, I'm glad you're offering to help!

I'm always looking for people to help me and the more help, the better! To be honest, we don't have enough people to run things in Norcal. If anyone had to quit right now because they had to move or had to prioritize real life, chances are that it'd be a pretty big hole to fill! It's not that running brackets or organizing things is hard but it does take time and experience.

The first thing anyone can do is say they're willing to help and become a "floater" aka backup staff meaning you could switch off on the brackets which is especially important when the bracket runner/TO needs to play his own match and/or is entered in more than one game.

I usually just have a list of people in my head whom I think are responsible and ask but officially having people willing to help would be great and if we had more people committed to being on deck, that would be awesome.

It would be a big help if you could assist Aginor this Dogfight with running the P4U 2v2 bracket and I might ask you to switch off with me sometimes on Gundam if we do end up running a tourny for it.

Yeah sure thing. My whole life situation until like this week was a bit shaky so I wasn't exactly sure how consistent I could be with helping or getting to future events, but it's resolved now. At the very least I think I should be able to commit to helping Dogfight and NCI if it was needed. Albeit I try to make it to at least each NCI anyway, but yeah. Glad to help!

Alright everyone, I've taken some time to simulate exactly how Guilty Gear will run and I've ironed out all the details. If you have any questions, suggestions, or feedback, I'd like to hear it!

Norcal Dogfight GGAC League #1

Participants will be divided into Round Robin pools of 5, 6, or 7 entrants (depending on turnout). The top 3 of each pool will then advance to a single-elim bracket.

Examples of RR pools:

10 people? 2 pools of 5.

11? (1 * 5) + (1 * 6)

12? 2 * 6

13? (1 * 6) + (1 * 7)

14? 2 * 7

15? (3 * 5)

16? (2 * 5) + (1 * 6)

17? (1 * 5) + (2 * 6)

18? (3 * 6)

19? (2 * 6) + (1 * 7)

20? (4 * 5)

21? (3 * 5) + (1 * 6)

22? (2 * 5) + (2 * 6)

23? (1 * 5) + (3 * 6)

24? (4 * 6)

25? (5 * 5)

26? (4 * 5) + (1 * 6)

27? (3 * 5) + (2 * 6)

28? (2 * 5) + (3 * 6)

29? (1 * 5) + (4 * 6)

30? (5 * 6)

31a? (1 * 7) + (4 * 6)? 5 pools

31b? (5 * 5) + (1 * 6)? 6 pools

32? (4 * 5) + (2 * 6)

How do we determine the top 3 that escape their pool?

We score them based on their performance.

3 pts = 2 - 0

2 pts = 2 - 1

1 pts = 1 - 2

0 pts = 0 - 2

In the event that 2 players have the same score, whoever won in their round robin matchup will take priority in advancing.

(i.e. A and B are tied but A beat B in pools so A advances and B may not get to advance)

We take the top 3 scoring players from each pool and advance them into a single elimination bracket.

Of course we could also divide them into 3-man pools of Round Robin and from there... take the top 1 or 2 players from each pool and do something else... but in the interest of time, let's not do that.

... now in the case that we have a ton of people (like 32 or 48)...

Example taken from Touhou Suimusou Kansai Tournament #4:

http://babylon.gilgame.sh/~dakanya/kt4/

Legend for anyone interested: ◎ 2-0, ○ 2-1, △ 1-2, × 0-2

48 players entered

8 pools of round robin, 6 players in each!

top 3 of each pool = 24 players

then we have 3 single-elim 8-man brackets!

winner of each bracket = 3 players

a final round robin to decide the winner!

TL;DR Enter Guilty Gear, get to play a bunch of serious games!

no gundam stream?? ah well, i understand. most people watching the stream probably don't know what's happening anyway - they think it's some sort of out of control 3D smash brothers or something.

GG's all! I probably should have played more than just GG before going into the persona 4 tournament but it was still fun.

AJ, hook me up with some good recording equipment. I wanna record some good videos of GG and try to spread the hype.

Thanks to Gamecenter for hosting!

@haketh: It's cool, it's difficult to make it out every time! I appreciate your continued patronage!

For the first time ever I had to leave an event early, I really wanted to play Guilty Gear ;_;

Thanks to everyone for holding it down, it seems like everything went fine and dandy!

I was only there until the end of pools so I didn't get a chance to poll but what was everyone's impression of the new league format for Guilty Gear?

The death pool for the round robin was probably pretty rough for Manabe and NotKBF, but overall I really enjoyed the whole idea. Fred was doing some magic with making the singles bracket that looked really complicated lol.

Everything worked out from what I could tell. It's nice to see that we had really good cooperation between the various games to optimize stream time. Thanks to all our tournament organizers!

That actually wasn't in there until I replied once but I'm going to start staying on top of that

Looks like super special guest will come next month, which gives me one month of trying to destroy a decade of rust and AWAKEN A SLEEPING DRAGON.

If this works out as well as I hope it will, then I think we are all fux0red.

hooray I'm double posting. you guys need to post more ;_; anyways I'm here to make an announcement!

Attention! Doors won't open until 5pm this Dogfight! However, don't fret! Gamecenter has promised to stay open longer so we'll still have time for the usual poverty shenanigans :)

Kewl, I'll make sure I actually have work off for this. Haven't really been playing anything other than BB netplay (for whatever reason), but I'll be up for playing everything.

There's a high chance not many P4U people will be at this gathering due to the ATLUS Championships in Southern California this Saturday. Just something to keep in mind.

I've already been aware of that since it was announced. If people can't make it to Socal, then we'll be here for them.
