magz Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 (edited) Thanks for everyone coming out and participating in all the events yesterday! While we didn't get to put Gundam on stream, I did see that there were quite a few people interested in the game and a crowd had formed around the cabs shortly after Gamecenter opened for the day. I'll have to make sure to jump onto the cabs some more for next time! Aquapazza and Persona 4 had a lot of stream time this Dogfight so we should probably work on getting Gundam on for a bit during the next one. GGs to everyone who stepped up to play some Guilty Gear on the side! It has been a while since I've seen Gomi I-No and I believe I saw Smiles playing Potemkin as well. I didn't get to see all the people playing GG but I'm glad to see that there are still people who have interest! Norcal Dogfight is planning to host Guilty Gear XX Accent Core danisens upon the release of the game for PS3 and 360 as the game will become more accessible to players who do not have the older PS2 game/hardware/sticks. YouTube videos are online in a playlist here. Individual YouTube videos are as follows: Persona 4 Arena Danisen + Combo Horse Aquapazza Casuals NORCAL BLOWUP: 12v12 P4U Exhibition Match + Casuals (Note: Casuals consists of Tenkai (Akihiko) vs. Pavo (Mitsuru) vs. 2GB Combo (Aigis)) And of course the stream archives can be located here on Twitch.tv. (Careful, it's one big, 7-hour archive!) As always, please feel free to post up comments, questions, criticisms - things you liked or weren't too big a fan of. Norcal Dogfight is a community based effort and feedback is an essential part of evolving into something bigger and better! Thanks again to the GC staff for hosting us and also thanks to everyone else who helped with running the events! Things went a lot smoother this time and that had a lot to do with many people helping out and contributing. Thanks to everyone who joined us on the stream chat. Things just would not be the same without our regular stream monsters! also aj your overlays are godlike, im amazed. Thanks! I'm glad to see it was enjoyed and appreciated! Kaori Manabe Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 this was a very good dogfight, good work everyone! TY TY ehuangsan for bringing CVS2 i think we really need to stream it next time. i love that game
Dakanya Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 (edited) fun times yesterday, dogfight sure has blown up a lot since the very first i went to! didn't play much P4A but shoutouts to anybody who mashed aquapazza~ hella blowing up. if we are going to have more than one danisen running at the same time... people don't have to play during the entire danisen as they should also be free to play other games or participate in other events as they like ... this is kind of a problem when for the lesser populated higher ranked bracket of players though... hmmm so we should take certain resources into consideration such as equipment and space... well we could start 'juggling' what ranks can play at what time... for example Event schedule: 4pm~6pm: Gundam EXVS event, Aquapazza event 4pm~5pm: P4U danisen ranks 1~4, GGAC danisen ranks 3~7 5pm~6pm: P4U danisen ranks 3~7, GGAC danisen ranks 1~4 6pm~8pm: sneak in casuals or feed your face 8pm~ P4U event, GGAC event Ideally we would be streaming the final part for every event but I think it'd be understandable if we didn't... WNF didn't stream P4U finals for a few weeks last season. EDIT: fixed my engrish (ok there was quite a bit of engrish) Edited September 19, 2012 by Dakanya
rivals Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I think that schedule looks pretty good. Also, after playing waterpizza last weekend I caved and ordered it, so hopefully I can get some practice in before next time.
geobuster Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I don't suppose anyone from upper SF or near the Oakland Skyline area would be open to doing car pools to/from Gamecenter in San Mateo, no? It would help me a great deal if I can secure a reliable way of getting home at the end of the day.
DJcream Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 TY TY ehuangsan for bringing CVS2 i think we really need to stream it next time. i love that game I am behind this idea ('cause I can play this game).
ehuangsan Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I am behind this idea ('cause I can play this game). Seconded because I can pretend to play too.

Hey you can ride the caltrain with me. it'll be fun. we can sing anime songs together and get kicked off.
Dakanya Posted September 21, 2012 Author Posted September 21, 2012 P4A players, have you guys heard about Tight or Fight? Answer this quick survey, it'll take less than a minute! (FYI: it's a P4A tourny that's happening this Sat at MGL, $10 entry + chance to win a stick!) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dGd0aUV3c3JmME5LVlJTUjVjTnRadmc6MQ
Tsubasa Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Are we gonna have a NCD this Sat, 9/24? Or are we gonna wait until 10/20 for the usual 3rd Sat of the month? I ask because we've been doing events more frequently and because September is a longer month with 5 Saturdays.
Dakanya Posted September 24, 2012 Author Posted September 24, 2012 (edited) I confirmed late last night with the forces and elements that this Saturday can be a Norcal Dogfight and was going to announce it today but you beat me to the punch. After this Saturday, the next one will be October 20th. I'll be making a more formal announcement in a bit! ... We're having another Dogfight this Saturday at Gamecenter! Now taking suggestions on what to run for P4U after the danisen. Personally I kind of want to see a 3v3 and since we had a 12v12 last time that means we could potentially have 8 teams... Edited September 24, 2012 by Dakanya
lark Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Aquapazza tournament. I don't care when but last NCD, people were kinda disappointed that there was nothing but casuals.
Dakanya Posted September 24, 2012 Author Posted September 24, 2012 We can have it but I need you guys to run it.
Tsubasa Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 3v3 would be new & interesting. We haven't done one in NCI/NCD history, so people can get acquainted with 3v3 strat. Things like team comp, yomi-ing the 1st player by double blind, & choosing the next player to send in. I can run an AP tourney.
ehuangsan Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Isn't there going to be an AP tourney on the 6th anyway for NCI? Not that it matters to me since it just means I get to troll with Tamaki more.
Dakanya Posted September 24, 2012 Author Posted September 24, 2012 AQUAPAZZA all the time. OK in my unproductive musings of what to do for P4U this weekend, I forgot to mention something important. October is National Blitz Month so we'll have a setup for Akatsuki Blitzkampf. And if you haven't heard yet, Guilty Gear will be coming to PSN/XBLA on October 24th (Japan time) and will be 1500yen or 1200 MSP. If you're interested in Guilty Gear, don't wait until the next version! Start now! Feel out the characters! Although relearning combos may be an issue, most of the fundamentals will carry on to +R such as movement, footsies, mechanics, etc!
ShelledMenace Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 A 3v3 could be fun. I'm up for anything anyway, but since I wasn't at DF last time, I don't know how things were lol. Regardless, cool, DF this weekend :v
Tari Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Yay, Guilty Gear! I will finally be able to play it. Up for basically anything for P4. Still need to buy a copy of Aquapazza.
ehuangsan Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 We should stream GG this time, because it looks like we're going to have a special guest who is more than likely going to run a train through all us Nor-Cal scrubs.
Dakanya Posted September 25, 2012 Author Posted September 25, 2012 Was planning on it but do tell us who this special guest will be... A 3v3 could be fun. I'm up for anything anyway, but since I wasn't at DF last time, I don't know how things were lol. Regardless, cool, DF this weekend :v in terms of Persona, last month might be hard to top lol
ehuangsan Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 (edited) Check the Nor-Cal Thread. We should welcome him with a streamed Kumite. Best of 5 instead of 3, since almost all of the matches will be rather quick and lopsided 3-0s. Edited September 25, 2012 by ehuangsan
ShelledMenace Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 Was planning on it but do tell us who this special guest will be... in terms of Persona, last month might be hard to top lol i know it looked really fun :c but considering i haven't been to any events due to sickness, anything would be fun for me lol. of course im not everyone so yeah.
thkthkthkthk Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I'll probably show up for dinner, like usual.
Dakanya Posted September 25, 2012 Author Posted September 25, 2012 i know it looked really fun :c but considering i haven't been to any events due to sickness, anything would be fun for me lol. of course im not everyone so yeah. its cool, chipping in with your opinion is always better than not =) i think random 2on2 would be kind of cool too.... ehuangsan: I see the old man army has gained another strong player... instead of practicing I will continue to play Shiren 5 since I have no CRT... maaaaan I wanna play :<
