And I will say that from a technical standpoint, while there's still room (and, more importantly, time) for some improvements, what they've shown is already really friggin' impressive, honestly.

Vyers Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 I wonder when in the timeline the story's going to be? Sol and Ky's dialogue seem to imply a prequel set during the holy war. The end bit with Millia and Eddie/Zato-1 is a bit clearer evidence of a pre-XX time-point. Although, I suppose Arc Sys could always invent a reason for why Eddie's still alive in Zato-1's body. Regarding the character models: I think they look excellent. I had no idea they were polygons till the camera rotated, and in the trailer at least, they didn't give off that weird moon gravity vibe I get from most 3D/ 2.5D fighters. Ky and Sol do look very different from their XX sprites, but differences in appearance for new models are to be expected. Eh, from my perspective it seems like Baiken's 'increase' in her figure is something created by a shift of angle, and the 'extra attention' to her ass. Her hips and thighs seem to be the same width. The second picture's angle is also slightly from the side, with her turning and leaning a bit. It's true that Sol and Ky don't talk about Justice, but the way they were arguing reminds of their relationship towards the end of the Holy war. It gives the impression that Ky has sanctioned authority over Sol and Sol is blowing him off. Of course, they often interact in this way, but I guess I associate this behavior most strongly with the holy war. If this is indeed post GG2 Eddie should be dead, or existing inside some sort of new host, or body, or remain imprisoned by Raven. Millia could be both alive and sane, her hair is cut shorter in the video (with the possible exception of the portion directly behind her head that she whipped out). It's a similar length to the of XX story mode ending where she cuts it off. At first sight I thought it was a fanmade video, then I realized they apparently hired highschoolers to make the char designs. Also the frame rate seems to be as choppy as it was in 2002. The animation almost looks like it's two console generations behind. And is it just me or does the gameplay look slower than AC? Don't get me wrong though, I'm hype and looking forward to this, will be checking for updates.

The animations being the way they are in Xrd seems like it's simply to stay true to the series (and save resources at that, the current generation is being pushed harder than you think). There've actually been speed comparisons, and it's about the same. And the reason I'm hoping for a reboot is because, let's be real, GG's story as it is now is kind of a clusterfuck. Unless arcsys wants to pull a Tekken and run with it. I'm cool with either, I'm just saying, it's a fighting game and story's not THAT important. Why would you hope for a reboot? How about wanting more of the story and a chance to add more characters? That doesn't make any sense to want a reboot.
