darkpanzer Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 I'm getting better with the iads. I was practicing doing last night for quicker set-ups and combos. Its the Orna I'm having more trouble with atleast, I just don't know wwhen I put in the input because I usually jumpcancel whatever I do. I know its more of a combo finisher but I want to get this basic move down if I'm ever gonna get to higher serious level play.
pbjmixxa Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Ok this move has weird inputs, doing this by itself will make you jump constantly so its better to perform this move during a combo or block string. You can start buffering this move after a 5B in a combo/blockstring and input the rest after 5C since 5C attack animation takes a while, so basically you do it like this: 5B [8] 5C [2x], you immediately input [8] during the starting frames of 5B otherwise you will jump cancel the 5B, then do 5C and at the end of the attack frame do [2x] if done right the 5C will cancel out into the Orna([8]2x) It just takes some practice. The way I do it is similar to May's dolphin loops where I quickly tap 5B-5C and input [8] at the start of 5C.

Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Well, I've got my copy of it now and while I haven't had the opportunity to play it much (I just moved to a different state), I have toyed around in training mode for a bit to get the hang of things. This game is pretty good and I'm glad I gave it a try, I will be using the likes of Lilika for my main character. I couldn't resist the axe-kick zansei roga.... The instant "jumping axe kick" move is pretty easy to do, and for the instant stops I'll just switch the buttons so X is C, then Square+X will be A+C, which I can get with my thumb just fine. Mei Feng and Maori are not on my list of characters I like, though. I'll enjoy killing them...

I find that I do better with her than with my Heart, who is the bomb by the way, and I thought that my Heart was great. I love how Heart can smash you no trouble. My Saki needs quite the bit of work and I don't even WANT to mention my Kamui. Its funny how the girls are actually pretty young.

It's like when I cancel into the dash from 5b it won't come out quick enough for me to do High Pressure and connect another 5b. trust me they're not as hard as you think once you get the flash step timing down, as there is definitely a distinct rhythm to it. if you're trying to dash in after 5b, flash step you should try adding a 5a right after the dash in. in the corner you can do 2c, 6hc, 5a, 5b, flash step, dash in 5a, 5b, flash step, 5b flash step, 5b, flash step, 5b, into heel kick loop. to me flash step canceling comes alot easier than the heel kick loop, as the rhythm and cadence with the loop seems to depend on how high you hit the character and when you land.

In the above post, what move is the "flash step"? Is it the a+c instant stops? 2. Can you homing cancel lilika's 214 super(zansei roga)? I keep trying to follow it up but the best I can get is some OTG pokes. 3. How do you unlock the 2nd artwork for each character? The first one is for beating story mode, but the second one is for something else and it isn't arcade. How do I get those? And how do I get the "special" artworks? 4. What is the point of fighting Mildred's first form? Weather you win or lose you still fight her 2nd form and beating the cocoon doesn't seem to change anything. What's the point? 5. Has anyone found any combo vids for this game yet? I want those....a lot....

I want those....a lot.... 1: Yes, flash step is the act of canceling her 214a/b/c or 236a/b/c, you can also cancel it by doing 214a+c if you are in the middle of a combo(Like form 5b, kinda late on the 5b) 2: Don't bother even using the super, there is very little situations where it even comes handy, don't think there's any good follow ups for it either. 3: Just play with that character a lot, either VS or Arcade is fine, it eventually gets unlocked over time. 4: By not defeating the first form, you give Mildred 9 bars for the next fight, she'll spam that lasers super if you are on difficulty 8 :s... 5: Look around youtube, there's a few combo videos around, try searching using japanese characters, since I am at a friend's computer right now, I can't help you much with giving you links etc. since I don't have my bookmarks here.
