[P4A] Elizabeth Gameplay Discussion

Elizabeth's counter assault is extremely bad and her F-Action can get option selected for 6k fatal counter combos in high level play. This means that mind charge is often the best defensive option when available because it pauses the game for two seconds so you can figure out the exact option to beat what the opponent already inputted. It doesn't have any invincibility though so it will flat out lose to meaties (C Ghastly Wail can beat however), but in situations where you know you can't get meaty'd (like after a block Coup Droit), Mind Charge can seriously turn the match in your favor.

Oh so basically it's using 50 SP to sort of see what your options are by freezing the screen for 2 seconds?

Can you super cancel into mind charge on block/whiff to make certain things safer?

It seems like everyone knows how to fight Liz, or my play style has become very one dimensional. It's like everyone knows how to deal with her (or me). I suppose I just need to find new tech.

that's how I felt when I picked Akihiko first, which is why I switched characters after ~3 weeks. if you're having trouble succeeding then perhaps consider a fresh start, you may find more success that way :3

I still win, it's just frustrating to play people who've never played me before, and they know to delay techs after 5C in the corner etc. Or when I play people in long sets, and I can't get anything to work. I think I just need to get new stuff like I said earlier, but I dunno. Liz is the only interesting character to me, so there's no one else to play imo.

well you shouldn't rly be running out of tricks to use, if you're a fundamentally strong player then you shouldn't have too much trouble with changing your playstyle up to keep them honest

if they're delaying tech after 5c then 2c them or even do a super meaty sweep

I'm not too sure if I'm good with the fundamentals <_<. I'd have to ask someone who I've played.

Yes & no to Toan. I never played the Labrys matchup, so I wasn't too sure what to expect and such. Then again, it seemed like you played against some good Liz's.

I've played 3 matches against Spacebar on PSN and got blown up by Garu and that's pretty much it. Good Liz are hard to come by. Not that I could really tell I guess since I am pretty free in this game.

You can be free too. Freeness has no bounds. From what I remember, pretty much every hit I got was from a one shot gimmick. I just had a lot of them. Once I run out, I start lose badly. Once you've seen them all, you will easily beat me.

I should start subbing Liz since she seems to have an endless supply of them.

I wish we had more top JP Liz players to get inspiration from too, Damosu is good, but he's the only one. He also needs to do more FT10 vs other chars. :V

EDIT: also, for some random idea, Liz should be able to inflict "silence" status, that would help too. They should give that to her if we're getting another version of Persona in the future.

we still have a few good players. kyou, abarenja, hazure metal... too bad they don't have updated videos, but the archives are still good too look at.

right now we need to focus on breaking down the character. sure, some of us may be doing well in our local scene/online. sure we may have varying degrees of knowledge on her, but we still do not know everything.

for example, what exactly should you do after paralysis? l may know, you may know, but does the elizabeth behind you know? we can't keep depending on jp for new labwork, it's time to stand on our own two feet. l wanted to propose an idea l had for awhile but i'll wait until tomorrow to unveil it.

I really wish I understood the secret to pulling off those normal tornado combos because I have no fucking idea why I can't do it in training mode -_-
