susano Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 You have to input 6696 fast to get micro dash iad. It took me a loooong time to get it right in both directions. I'm in for a loooong training session then.
Elochai Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 If you're doing a combo that'll be really prorated by the time you get to 214B > 2C > 214C (corner), omitting the 2C may be a viable alternative. It'll be like doing 214D oki midscreen, except in the corner. If done from burst-safe ranges, you would lose a persona card at the most. I tested this against Elizabeth's 5B, and by the time your opponent escapes the ice, you're able to block, and the flames will CH them. Speaking of oki, do you guys think that it is viable to start using a vortex-style playstyle? By this, I mean doing hit confirm > 214B > 214C/214D and repeating. In comparison to doing j.C > meaty 5C/5D, I don't think much is being lost honestly, and going for a 50/50 each time may be the way to go. Even if your opponent guesses correctly, at least you're close enough to continue pressure, and chances are you're not going to lose a persona card like you would if you had gone for 5C or 5D meaty. I think we should use j.B in mixups these type of mixups too, since it crosses up from the same side.
TD Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Recently I've come to the same conclusion as well. While 214b 214d/c may give people who can break out of ice well a good chance to escape, the reward is very much worth the risk. As long as we keep in mind that it still is punishable, at least midscreen, by some characters. What are some things we can do from said oki? Mixup and confirm wise. I know the combo on hit will likely be an fc combo, so jb d Garu stuff is (the only) one of my confirms ATM. Mastering this oki and it's counters can prove really effective in the long run.
Elochai Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Off of j.A, I like: j.A FC > 5A > 5AA > j.A > j.B > j.236D > 2B > j.B > 236D > 5A > 5C > 2C > 214B > reset oki j.A > 5A > 5AA > j.C > j.B > j.236C > OMC > 5A > 5C > 2C > 214B > reset oki Off of 2A: 2A FC > 5B > 2AB > 236D [9~3] > 2A > 5B > 2AB > 236D [9~3] > 2A > 5B > 5C > 2C > 214B > reset oki Non FC is the same as the above, but with one garu (don't think my combos are optimal though lol) j.B, I'm not sure midscreen tbh, but in the corner it's a similar route as the 2A combo. You can even OMB for 2B > j.B > j.236D loop for like 7.5k~. I would agree that the reward is worth the risk. I think only projectiles can beat this midscreen, and not all characters have access to those. You would be safe + have fire behind them even if they escape fast enough.
TD Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Wow, thank you very much. Optimal isn't required right now, I just needed something stable to practice tonight. Thanks again.
susano Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Wow, thank you very much. Optimal isn't required right now, I just needed something stable to practice tonight. Thanks again. TD, do you use pad for Elizabeth? If so, then do you have trouble doing her double/triple tornado combos?
TD Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Yes I use pad for everything lol. I never really tried to learn the different character specific ones, but on yosuke and co. I can do them almost flawlessly. (Funny, I was going to upload a vid with my 8k skills in action, lol) Anyway, I don't think they'd be any more difficult than using a stick. The execution isn't as strict as the timing.

YukiBlue Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 So. The EU finally has Persona and I'm maining Liz, right. So I hop into training mode and screw around with her normals. See what works where, learn the specials, Y'know. Then I go to the basic 5AA > 214 combos just to get a feel and then. Bam. I genuinely do not know where to go next. Could someone just hold my hand and just point me in a direction? I'm kinda lost. What's my best Midscreen combo? I can usually mooch off from there.
Elochai Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 In my opinion, you want to get the Garu elevator/Garu loop down first. They may be somewhat intimidating at first, but with practice, you'll get it in no time. The Garu route is also the best combo route for Elizabeth in my opinion. Only way to turn 5A into 4k meterless. For example, you could start with 5A > 5B > 2AB > 236CD [2] > 2AB > 236D [9~3] > 2A > 5B > 5C (2) > 2C > 214B x2 > j.C. Afterwards, you can amend this combo by doing 236CD [9] > 236D [2] > 2AB > 236D [9~3] instead. Here's an example of the Garu elevator combo (yay, free video plug). All of the combos in that video are basic, and I would suggest that you watch the video to get an idea of some combos. Keep in mind that this video was made in September though, so some of this stuff is outdated. When you're feeling more comfortable, you can move on to more tricky stuff like 2B > j.B loops, or 2A > 236D loops.
YukiBlue Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Is that linked combo universal? Or do the same Garu rules apply? Is 9-3 just the direction I Garu in?
Elochai Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Garu has character specific parameters, kinda. On Elizabeth, Yosuke, Labrys/Shadow Labrys, Akihiko, and Naoto, you just do [2] (as in holding down). On everyone else, you must do [9~3], as in holding 9, and then going to 3. The extent of which you must hold 9 before going to 3 is different for everyone. However, for the upward SB garu & downward D garu, it's universal. That linked combo works on everyone, but the way in which the third garu was done is specific to the [2] characters.
Eshi Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Did anyone get to see Arc Revo? How did Okusan do?knocked out first round by yu.
Eshi Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I looked at Okusan's bracket when it was first posted and facepalmed. First round yu, second round yu or mitsuru. He was fucked.

YukiBlue Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I would of told you guys to man up and stop blaming matchups 2 weeks ago. I spent a week with Liz and uhm. Well. I'm sorry for doubting you

TD Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 why does elizabeth want to fight if she's just going to troll
Elochai Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 why does elizabeth want to fight if she's just going to troll Do you mean to say, "be the worst character in the game"?
TD Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Do you mean to say, "be the worst character in the game"? yes. you know, this game has a nice amount of fans. l was just wondering a bit, if there maybe is hope for a balance patch. even if it isn't by 2013-2014. she is a viable character, and very fun to play. current top tiers (some other mid tier chars) have that one (or several) normal or special that severely hinders liz's neutral game. her options in many situations either are disadvantageous or unable to maintain momentum for a long time. if on the offensive, she does nicely, and becomes dangerous with enough meter. but against droit, yu 2b, etc, makes it very hard for liz to press buttons in the first place. l know you already know most/all of that stuff already, and you problably love the challenge, like most of us who are still playing her, do. l guess my point is that liz could get stronger in the next game. which would be fun. ...probably.
YukiBlue Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 She would be a hard one to balance without the typical copout of "Lol have 500 moar health". The game had 1 balance patch, so another is possible. Just...Don't expect it. At all. Ever. Haha.
