Season’s Beatings: The Mecca of Marvel and Origin of Brokentier IFC Yipes' “IT’S MAHVEL BABY!” Now in our sixth year of All-Star players and Dream-Team Special Events, for 2012, Godlike Entertainment - Chris Hatala (Ghaleon) and Harmon Tam (nomrah) – brings you Season’s Beatings: Ascension, featuring:

*U.S. vs. The World (Marvel vs. Capcom 3, 5-on-5 Special Exhibition)

*FGC “All-Star” roster of tournament talent and star power, across all games

*Free Season’s Beatings shirt and SBa dogtag for paid competitors

*Special events and guests as we confirm them

*Giant tournament and casuals areas

*Cleveland hotspots to eat and drink

Note to Dustloop fans:

SB has a tradition of supporting Dustloop games going back to 2006, since the Midwest always had a strong scene for GG and BB. In 2010 we even chalked on a pot bonus and ran GG as an official tournament game to try to keep the scene strong, and run BB officially as well.

This year, we have 8,500 sq. ft. of space to not only run Persona 4 Arena as an official, scheduled and pooled 8-setup tournament game, but to have Guilty Gear or Blazblue return as hype side tournaments as well. We are in talks with Atlus and hope to have official news regarding P4A very soon.

I definitely have an organizer for GG if there is enough interest. If anyone is interested in running BB, please let me know and we'll do all we can for you in finding the best time and ways to run your events, too. We will have a general-purpose side stream going to, so there's a strong possibility of getting your finals streamed and recorded too, we just have to hash it out.

IT HAS BEGUN: A new chapter opens in FGC history as we rise from the ashes of our beginnings and ascend to stratospheric heights, with a new venue and more epic events.

Stream Graphics/SB Imagery by Seth Mussey -- since 2010!

“Kumite is for the fighters, not the people who read newspapers.” – Frank W. Dux, Bloodsport

Despite the upgrades, we remain rooted in what we’ve always valued: a tournament. It's a kumite starring everyone, from traveled world warriors to local living room champions, all traveling to Ohio to witness and be a part of history and to show their competitor’s heart.

SB will never be about carnival gimmicks, pats on the back or photo opportunities for ourselves. Since 2006, we’ve simply strived to bring you the one of the world’s best arenas to square off against friends and rivals alike, alongside godlike special events and an unmatched atmosphere. And as long as you enjoy it, we’ll keep doing it. Now, prepare to FIGHT!

With Season’s Beatings through the years, we watched uncountable legendary moments transpire at our famous venue, Momo2. From our Undisputed Heavyweight Marvel vs. Capcom 2 showdowns, to the Daigo-in-Ohio invasions of 2009 and 2010, to last year’s creative and unprecedented Good vs. Evil Phoenix 5v5 at SB:Velocity, we (so many SB participants) have built a lifetime’s worth of memories at that beloved, unique venue.

Unfortunately, as of 2012, Godlike Entertainment must look to the future as Momo2 announced its closing as of August. Momo2 gave us an amazing six years; it was synonymous with our event.

But the heart of SB is YOU, the players who travel from around the world to experience the riotous, uberhype SB atmosphere, and the way we run our event will not change. We’ll miss our old home, but we look forward to bringing you the SB experience with upgraded surroundings:

*8,500 sq. feet of space

*In-venue food and adult beverage lounge, open until 2 a.m.

*Across the street from some of a major U.S. city’s most famous and hottest hangouts, offering award-winning sandwiches and hundreds of beers, even with on-request shuttle service to drive you back to your hotel.

*Indoor pool, sauna

How much?

For competitors: $35 +additional cost per game, pre-registration/pre-payment only

FREE SEASON’S BEATINGS T-SHIRT AND SBa DOGTAG for pre-registering as a competitor! Why? Because SB is and will always be a tournament, featuring the world’s best and hungriest talent, and we want to and reward everyone for supporting us and the FGC, from Justin Wong to Johnny Donuts.

For spectators: $20 enables to watch tournament matches and play casuals. The shirt will not be available for purchase; man up, play your favorite game(s), be a part of SB history!

Many, many more details to come, regarding media, production, online content, and top guests in all games. We look forward to directly engaging YOU, the players spending hard-earned money to come to our event!

For now, post up or contact Chris or Harmon through email (askgodlike@gmail.com), PM, Facebook page, or Twitter (@gdlkEnt) with questions/feedback/advice. SRK PM is NOT the most efficient way to get ahold of us because of how quickly our inboxes fill!

Thank you for supporting Season's Beatings year after year and keeping it one of the world's largest -- and still grassroots -- Fighting-Game Community events.

Anyone from the Philly/South Jersey area driving to this? I'll help with gas if I could get a ride. I'd drive myself but Given that my car is a lease, I'm not trying to put 800-900 miles on my car in one weekend. I'll even take some driving duties if we're leaving late on Thursday. If this falls into place, then I am definitely going this year.

Also, can we get a sticky for this thread, stat. This is huge!

I might be able to help you out, and I'd take you up on the driving offer provided you can drive manual. I'll probably be going to this again, despite the fact that last year wasn't too kind to the anime scene. I'm hoping that with p4a being a main game (now that I've dropped BB so I don't give a shit if its there or not this time) and GG being a side tourney is fine since that's how it's always been (it should be a main game we're getting a new release soon shit) that this tournament will be the experience I remember. Afterall, 2009, season's beatings IV was the first tournament I had ever gone to, and for BB at that (which was run very well), so I have a special place in my heart for this tournament, and would love to have as much fun as I did in 2009-2010 again (hate to sound mean but BB at the last SB was pretty shit, no entrants, last minute, I had to run it coming from jersey... wasn't really that much fun for me or really anyone else playing BB that time). Here's to some hype for persona in september!

Posted

Unfortunately, I'm not very good at manual, so that kinda disqualifies me from that part. Still looking into the logistics of it all, but driving would be a much quicker trip. Also, I'll book a room once we can get a good amount of people in our room (8-10). That way with about 10 people it'd be about 45 per person. May not seem like it but the end of September isn't that far away, and we should act fast if we're going to get a solid number of people in for SB. I probably would play in a BB side tourney, but given my failed relationship with the game (much like my IRL relationships, huehuehue) I'll most likely skip out on anything BB until CP comes out.

BUT that's besides the point, right now we should figure out room situation.

Right now it would be:

Me

Achtzehn

Anyone else who wants in should PM me and we'll book the room once we hit an acceptable number. Even if you aren't Jersey, you're more than welcome to crash in our room, if you can ante up. If there's absolutely no way you can pay for it, we'll figure something out, but please be prepared to throw down some cash for the room, even if it's only a little bit.

Sorry to hear about the last BB tournament. Was that last year, 2011?

One of the benefits of the new venue (although everyone will miss Momos) is that it's HUGE and we can accommodate everybody's games WAY easier. We can run a 2nd stream and run more games, esp side stuff.

We've heard so much hype for P4A that we made it an official game right up there with SF4/MvC3/TTT2/KOF/DOA5/SCV/ST. And I'm glad its fans spoke because with the job Cross Counter and Atlus and others are doing with the game, we feel like it's gonna be a strong tournament game for quite awhile.

Keep spreading the word! Follow us for updates at @gdlkEnt or the SB facebook page. We'd glad you guys love the game and are supporting -- in return we'll give you one of the world's top tournaments.

Also if there are any Facebook groups we should post in to get the world out over GG and P4A, please help us out there and share!

ATLUS is now a proud sponsor of Season's Beatings! :) They've been great to deal with and are even giving us some prizes to give away at SBa, in addition to making sure we're fully equipped to run a huge Persona 4 Arena event. AND of course their support of MadKOF, world champ, coming to SBa!

Posted

EVO SF4 champ Infiltration from Korea is confirmed, as is EVO champion Mad_KOF. That bring us to 6 countries confirmed for SB. We will officially add to that total soon.

Also, we've joined the competitive GG group on Facebook and trying our best to get everyone ready for Guilty Gear!

B]]Ghaleon[/b: What time does the venue open on Saturday, and when will it close? Sorry, for the silly questions, and thank you so much for including GG in the trailer and trying to hype the "smaller games" <3...

Seasons Beatings always has been one of the most HYPE tournaments, so please register and support it/add to the hype!

Remember, you only have a few days left before registration goes up on september 1st (to $40)! If you plan on going to SB's this year, I recommend registering asap to save time and money!<3

If you guys want teams, please let the Guilty Gear ladies know and/or post here! We're really glad that they could step up and organize GG again :) The game deserves it. Esp with the re-release coming.

All official games will have Finals on Sunday, incl. Persona. But the pools will finish Friday night. SB is very organized -- each pool won't take more than 3 hours to finish (prob more like 2 hours).

good to see you girls stepping up to run gg again. as this tournament is now in my hometown, i'm helping run everything i can but i definitely want to get in as much gg as possible

Posted

Only been playing AC for two weeks now, but hey might as well pot monster it up. I might learn something.

Posted

So, I may not be able to join the P4A tourney on Friday because of work. BUT, I might not have anything going on Saturday so I can show up for casuals.

Posted

Need to practice up, but GG should be fun regardless of how hard I'll get bodied. :v:

And in there for P4U of course.

Posted

So I think I might be able to make it to this, just gotta double check I got the days off from work tomorrow. Gonna need to get a room soon if that is the case, as well as find out if people want to hitch rides with me (I think casshern is looking for a ride, marlinpie might be dunno if he checks here often, and lordknight I think was interested?).

You forget Lich, nigga. I would love if I could hitch a ride.

Posted

Yo, if it could be us 5 I might just be in. Some complications came up and I'm not 100% sure if I'd be able to make it, but if I can, I'd love to ride up with NJ. I feel bad because I haven't been checking much lately and people have been constantly saying they weren't going so the room was in jeopardy. If we could get 10 people to our room, 5 people from jersey to ride, that would be gdlk.

Posted (edited)

So I got a room, and am definitely going to season's beatings. Already preregistered and everything. Anyone in the area that is looking for a ride should respond here. I'll discuss details with whoever is interested. With that said I'm fucking HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LETS GO!

EDIT: right now my plan for the trip is to head out sometime in the afternoon or evening on thursday to make it there by friday at a reasonable enough time to be able to wake up in time for all the stuff happening then. As for the return it's gonna be late sunday night, I need to make it back by monday morning. I'll talk with people who are interested and explain more, but this is the basic idea of the plan for driving there and back.

ALSO IMPORTANT NOTE I DID NOT BOOK A ROOM AT THE VENUE, THE HOTEL I'M AT IS A MILE AWAY, OBVIOUSLY IF YOU CAME WITH ME YOU CAN GET A RIDE TO THE VENUE FROM THE HOTEL WITH ME.
