MikelAL93 Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 (edited) Just who is the true Yukiko? Discuss the mirror match between Yukiko and herself here. Matchup Summary Yukiko's Tools Her 5B/2B/JB Fans: The basic weapon of the Unconquerable Snow Black herself. The fans can go faster or slower or ever downward or upward depending on what version you use. Dia: Yukiko can use Dia to heal her HP back up when in a dangerous situation, but not only can it do that, it can also have projectile invincibility during its active frames. It can break apart with solid attacks. Agi and Maragi: Agi and Maragi can both be delayed with a few exceptions: Agi's delay means that you can also place it anywhere depending on what version it is, and Maragi's delay means that you have to press C or D to detonate it depending on what version you use. Yukiko's response to them Her 5B/2B/JB Fans: Before or when one Yukiko throws her fans, have the other Yukiko summon a C or D Maragi to have it go under the fans. This will help with oki and mixups along the way. If the fans are too close and if you summon Maragi too soon, it will result in a counter hit from a fan. You can also jump and do 9D; if they don't see it coming or don't react fast enough, they'll get hit and are forced to block/get fatal/mixup. Dia: Dia can help protect Yukiko against her doppleganger's projectile attacks during its active frames, don't get too touchy with it, as it does not protect her against physical attacks while Dia is active. Agi and Maragi: Because this is a mirror match, you are completely unaware of where the other Yukiko places her Agi's or detonates her Maragi's at. This is all a mind game here. choysauce Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 got a few tidbits from playing this match the other night. don't use your persona until you've gained the advantage. if you just throw it out, it will get broken by fans since yukiko's persona moves are very slow. mixup your oki options and don't be too aggressive. it's worth losing a persona card when you can bait a dia with 2D pressure and waiting to counter hit them on recovery. it feels like you should rush down in this match lol. such a weird mirror match, looks like two wimpy dudes flailing their arms at each other.

MikelAL93 Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 Found another method when fighting against Yukiko during the mirror match on PSN. Thanks to E3vE3 WAZ HEA for testing it with me. Before or when one Yukiko throws her fans, have the other Yukiko summon a C or D Maragi to have it go under the fans. This will help with oki and mixups along the way.

Thelo Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 I've found this is very much a momentum-based matchup, in the sense that when at frame disadvantage, avoid pushing buttons (except Dia / well-timed B Agi when at fullscreen) because odds are very good you'll just get interrupted. And when at frame advantage, press that advantage by throwing everything you can at the opponent, it works.

Sorry if I was late on this, but you're very welcome. I've updated the first post to include the matchup format for details on their respective tools and how they have an advantage against them thanks to the information posted in this thread. I have yet to start on the verdict, and corrections can be made to what has been filled out thus far. Edited September 16, 2012 by MikelAL93
Thelo Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Oh also, I suggest almost always using fast fans when zoning, not slow fans. It's really important to get that counterhit on the opponent as soon as possible since that makes all their projectiles disappear. I've been burned (literally) too many times by trying to be fancy with a slow fan that barely didn't reach the opponent in time before I ate a Maragi or something.
Pyry Von Quies Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 I know you hear a lot of people saying that mirror matches are very fun to play for most characters, but for Yukiko, it is the complete opposite. You're going to get irritated. You're going to get paranoid. You're going to want to cry. Fans can be a huge factor in the match, for they will fly everywhere in opposing directions. One thing you shouldn't do too much is jb.3B because a simple 5B will beat it no problem and add CH to add insult to injury. If the opposing Yukiko is fan-happy, you're going to have a bit of a problem. One option is to just sit there and block the fans until they get impatient and call out their Persona to attack you [if they use 3D, you can try to roll before Sakuya lands so that you're in midrange, or Dia to break the Persona; for 6D a roll should work or a superjump--just look out for fans though], have some sort of silly fan clash battle and have both of you lose your godforsaken minds, or 236B(~) them as soon as you see an opening in their pressure string...this includes 5B, 5BB, 4/5/6D, and so forth. This may be a good way to shut their offense up and actually respect what you're about to next, or if you detonate it on the spot, force them to tech while you begin your offense. You can also Maragi from far away, as it can sometimes disrupt Yukiko's zoning pressure, and it gives you an advantage on hit or block. Good reads, patience, and nicely placed Agis are the key to winning against yourself, I think. DO NOT try to Maragidyne unless you're doing a combo, because she can Dia through it and you will waste meter. Fire boosts aren't necessary for this match (as she's got moderately low health), but Fire Break is essential. You're going to need it to scare Yukiko into Dia and roll baits so you can punish them. The key to victory in this battle isn't outzoning her, but merely outsmarting her. It's clear both you and the opponent know what Yukiko's moves and playstyles are like, so there's not gonna be much of a competition of "who can do it better?" You need to cleverly place Agis to intimidate Yukiko from attacking afar and bait her Dia and rush in for the strike.
D.R.F. Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Mirror matches are awesome? What the hell???? Who told you that??
Pyry Von Quies Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 I-It's what I've been told! D: Like, for instance, people say that Yosuke mirrors are fun as well as Kanji mirrors and Teddie mirrors and Akihiko mirrors...I just know for sure Yukiko mirror sure as hell isn't one of them
D.R.F. Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Well they are fun for the wrong reasons then. Usually mirror matches are the most annoying things to deal with, simply because your knowledge of the character can be used against and that wierd shit happens when two people play the same character. Brings a lot of lols though, from my experience
