Sukurabu vs the World

You're still supporting the scene but it's just you getting the most out of the matches no matter how I look at it. Wouldn't you be able to obtain slightly more hype by recording two other players duking it out and you adding your own commentary? Your recent videos involves you talking about approach and respect but I like to see a broader idea on multiple players and possibly multiple characters.

I may not be as exciting at the other members since my generic team only consist of Ragna and Hazama, thinking of adding Azarael into the mix after BBCP drops.

You should. Do it (and record it)

Gio doesn't want to play against me DP'ing and canceling into dive kicks :(

it's really hard to commentate as you're playing...just saying...this reminds me of the lk vids that he used to post of his matches where he'd watch them back and talk about what happened. if you want more critical commentary, you're gonna have to watch the vids and then find specific notes you want to talk about before recording yourself talking about it. this is even harder to accomplish if you're trying to play properly and commentate at the same time. finally, addressing kuro's point, if you're gonna watch 2 other ppl's matches and critique/commentate it usually requires more than one person to do because you have to play the character to really know what they're doing, and no one person plays all of the characters efficiently enough to be able to do that. (not even akira shiro) at least when sukurabu commentates on his own matches, he can talk about what he was specifically trying to accomplish against certain characters or why he won/lost.

ps. sukurabu the offline scene misses you

Play me in Full house poker ya scrub. Also when are we gunna do a sonic 2006 speed run challenge =]

@ Herbal Grey- Not sure if your aware of this, but your choice of words makes it impossible to validate your argument. You do not need to play a character to understand how they work because if that were the case then it be impossible to learn a match up due to being unable to understand the opposing character since you don't play them. On another note not all commentary needs to be informative. Being able to keep your audience entertained and interested in what is going on in the match is as equally important. Not to mention feeding a chunk of opinionated/useless/unconfirmed/etc.information is pointless as the listener will be unable to fully process the information while enjoying the match.

Scrub in the future just make spectator slots for more people, sign on skype, start a call with other players and just use that for commentary. If you need to focus; simply mute the volume of the call and just let other people commentate for you, Sharing their perspective on given match ups and situations. Plus Skype call commentary is just gold.

Kuro specifically asked about critical commentary....second, if ppl knew even a little bit about how arakune or rachel work they wouldn't get blown up by the same resets, setups, and mixups every time. Finally, it's one thing know how your own character works against a character; its another thing to watch two characters you dont necessarily play and talk about it. If u're looking for entertaining more than informative it doesn't matter tho

PS. Suku why u come when I can't go....I probe won't be able to make it to the next two xie things

Actually kuro was asking about having another perspective in the commentary to make it more broader and universal rather than it just being "hey this is how you play Jin mirrors" (Your usage of the word critical was properly used in the sentence, but the wrong situation). On the topic of knowing characters, it really boils down to experience and understanding the universal principles of how the game works. Understanding how characters work isn't something that takes an abundant amount of intelligence. In all honesty it just takes common sense.

I commend using Rachel as an example, but lets be honest when was the last time she won anything in a outside of netplay? Unfortunately Arakune isn't the best example to use due to the fact that no amount of understanding of how he works will change the fact that he can kill approximately 78% of the cast in the first curse combo alone on average. Finally Mix up is mix up; your not suppose to be able to block it easily, generally your suppose to make it harder to block in order to hit your opponent. Having access to things like ambiguous cross ups, Teleport feints, 3 lows/2 over heads on the ground, Corner specific unblockables, etc. you really can't blame anyone for having terrible defense against something of that caliber.

at the risk of going way off topic, i will respond...

first of all, rachel won at SNCI in March ... yeah it seems like a while ago, but blazblue is pretty much dead, and the reason rachel won is because no one knew how to play against her because they didn't know her mixups, setups etc.

yes attacking is good in this game, but knowing the character can improve your blocking: for example, jin will typically go for overhead resets after certain moves in his combo, or he tends to go for grab resets after using several a attacks; knowing that rachel can't use instant overhead except after 5a or 5b or that she has the cross-under after baden lily reset; knowing that arakune even "has" an instant cross-up overhead or that he uses 6a as a reset tool that you can't roll out of in the corner; knowing ragna's 6c is unsafe if he dash cancels it on block; etc etc etc etc etc

in terms of gameplay, which should be my word rather than "how the character works", i mean strategies that a character typically uses in neutral or on defense...this can pertain to tao mashing out while blocking with low profile 2b ; how arakune uses his clouds (if he gets follow you cloud, he will keep re-summoning party bug to trap you for example); that rachel baits jumping on wakeup by summoning pumpkin at 2/3 ish screen and suddenly winding it forward as you wake up.

it's a lot of info to know is all i'm saying and at least if suku is commentating his own matches, he can talk about how he handled his match against one character, rather than trying to get in the head of both players.
