Btw, CP Tager match up is done: Land 13 jCs, bonus if you have 4 mags with 6C/4C > Shippu.

Tager was always actually an even-ish matchup for us despite Tager bitching. He had an advantage over us in CT and it's been like 5-5 ever since. And he is even better in CP so I have a feeling that it'll still be a close matchup if not better for Tager.

i feel like the reward hakumen gets off of hits / the amount of meter he generates in CP really skews the balance of that matchup since it makes it where hakumen can do safer "pressure" (ie just wait for pokes) than CSE and still probably gets higher damage than in CSE while doing it but /speculation

in cse dumping all your meter doesn't necessarily get you a lot more damage whereas in CP a lot of the time if you want combo damage you just add zantetsu (and/or crush trigger)

not to mention he can't do anything about saving all your meter and blowing it on an OD combo on his one of his only mistakes

not being able to reliably parry tager's slow normals is a drawback tho. 2d doesn't catch on things like 5d

"safer" not really no, since he still suffers from the same problem he always has, barrier kills his pressure, his damage has been buffed on certain starters, otherwise its the same or less, which is why you see a few hakumen dump their stars to begin with. so it can land anywhere between 3-6k depending on star use and the starter and where and how it happened. i really dont understand the "safer" pressure business since its never changed.

probably shouldn't have used the word "pressure" since mostly i meant fishing for hits with pokes like 4c/gurren etc. it's a common tactic currently in high end play and i can only imagine it will get used a lot more than applying actual pressure since doing so vs. tager can be scary at times. there's certainly safe ways to approach tager in this way and if eel like the increased damage potential / meter gain in some occasions will make the rift as far as safety between playing safe and doing mixup even greater

not sure what was confusing about my OD statement :I hitconfirming a poke in CP into a huge unburstable OD combo is pretty much what i was talking about. there was a video somewhere of an OD combo off j.C among other practical options

changes like comboable 6B wth RC or CH is nice too, tho i don't remember what kind of damage RC 6B turns into off hand.

to be fair i'm not terribly familiar with tager's changes but a lot of hakumens are obviously very strong this version

fact is when BBCP hits ill give it anothe rmonth before the haku forums go back to being really quiet.

^Updated with the new list. I haven't been paying acute attention to the rankings for Hakumen players, but it seems to be stabilizing more now no?

But I'm wondering if we should start doing it monthly now or not.

I was actually going to bring that up since you're right, the top rankings are starting to stabilize around the same 30 players. I could start doing monthly updates by next week since we could get a new list at the start of the month this way, I've also been thinking it might be better to just list the notable players that are in the video thread since I guess people could just navigate around the ranking page themselves anyways. I'm fine with updating a ranking list but I think listing only the notable players that we get to see playing is less redundant in the end.

I rather have a ranking list. Since I haven't been on the video thread (and the game period), they just have an idea of who is good and who isn't. Though I don't think I quite get what you mean :p

Btw why does Chin have to go by so many names?

Just a list of the notable players rather than a ranking so I think you got it. And yeah, it's pretty hard to keep up with good players since so many of them keep changing their names (especially Chin and natakishi) and things get really mixed up when people starting going by other players names or something similar.

These rankings are so confusing to me. I can't tell how I am supposed to use them. Do they lead to videos or something?

That would make things a lot easier if the ranking linked to the players videos. It's mostly cosmetic and I guess to keep track of players you're keeping an eye on.

chin is #1 most times, but it seems like occasionally someone passes him up (film in the most recent posting)

their win ratio does not determine their placement on the ranking, only their placement in the dan ranking, in which film is apparently higher than chin right now in 17th dan

I was going to update it during April but then seeing how we weren't getting new matches updates here, decided to get some videos myself before I work on the updated list. I will definitely update it once it hits May, I've been gathering the Tachikawa videos from Jourdal's account but haven't been able to finish organizing the list up because of real life and stuff. It would be great if other people can help gather other videos like the Arc Revo ones so we can get the CP video thread back into shape.

I can certainly handle the arc-revo videos within the next week. Just ignore those when searching for videos beause I'll get that covered eventually.

Feel free to ask whenever you need help with the video thread. Sometimes I get bored enough to spend a few hours gathering/compiling videos and it would be a shame if we had trouble finding relavent videos for specific players and whatnot.

I might as well start looking at updating this fossilized thread since we won't be getting CP for a hella long time.

To be honest the new dustloop formatting for the video threads makes updating it more troublesome, one slight error when posting them in the first post and you fuck up the entire thread. Not QQ'ing, just expressing myself so having clear lists of matches makes it easier for me to update it I rather not spend an hour of my time just to add 10 matches (which has happened before).

With that said, lets make the Hakumen forums more lively minna-san. :D
