Okidoki_Sir Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Hello there, I am quite new to this forum, but I wonder one thing: Why is there no offtopic subsection? Or am I just too stupid to find it? I want to become part of the community and the best way to do so usually is through some offtopic discussions. I am unskilled so I cannot talk about pro stuff, but I want to participate in discussions anyway. Apart from that it would be nice and relaxing to have the opportunity to chat about some other topics with the people that roll just like you do. Used search-function but there were no related results. Thanks in advance for your opinions.
Mr. Kimura Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 (edited) You're not stupid: there is no "off topic" section. You can find "general threads" in most character forums (though now the golden rule is to use groups to keep the site more "competitive minded") which serve a similar purpose. The past two years I've been here there's been talk of an off topic forum but the admin isn't likely to cave in. Its not because we don't like fun, but the site is supposed to be more informative. But we do encourage you to make use of the groups section though, or at least look for the general threads in the character forums for the characters you play. If you're going in the general threads try to keep it more gameplay related. Any serious off topic discussion, please make use of the groups section. It's been improved over the past few months. Another thing to note is to look or ask about Skype groups. They've been fairly popular and they tend to replace groups and general threads (that is if you use Skype or plan on doing so, its free). Hope this answers your inquiry. Edited December 5, 2012 by Mr. Kimura
Kurushii Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Yea Mr. Kimura pretty much covered it. Also recommend twitter. Tons of Dustloop staff and users are on it chatting about casual life stuff to random shit every minute.
Okidoki_Sir Posted December 6, 2012 Author Posted December 6, 2012 Thanks for the answers How do these groups work? May I join any group? Is it like fanpages on facebook? And I got Skype. Is there some more information about skype groups anywhere?
Circuitous Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Skype groups can be found in the character threads that use them. Most groups are joinable by anyone, some require an invite.
Okidoki_Sir Posted December 7, 2012 Author Posted December 7, 2012 But there are only like 20 groups visible to me and I do not feel like I belong in one of those. By the way: You got a pretty sick avatar :D
Circuitous Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Thanks. If none of the existing groups strike your fancy, you can make a new one.
bbq sauce Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Off topic sections >>> Wouldn't hold my breath for it here. the jersey thread is basically an off topic thread though
Okidoki_Sir Posted December 7, 2012 Author Posted December 7, 2012 Off topic sections >>> Wouldn't hold my breath for it here. the jersey thread is basically an off topic thread though Sorry, my English is not that good, I did not get this one. Would you mind putting it in other words?
Circuitous Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 He means The New Jersey scene's thread in the Match Finder forum is a good place to post whatever, if you're into that.
Okidoki_Sir Posted December 8, 2012 Author Posted December 8, 2012 Yeah I am kinda into posting whatever I want, but I not from New Jersey :/
Shruikon Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Sorry, my English is not that good, I did not get this one. Would you mind putting it in other words? Most of the Match Finder threads often tend to become talk about off-topic stuff. You'll always be welcome to chill with us in the UK/GB thread, it seems to be where most EU peeps post anyway and the UK and rest-of-EU connections are usually good so there'll be people willing to play too.
