Surf Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Yea I remember when I should do them but netplay is like Nope. Need to grind them out consistently, same with his combo confirms. I'm so used to BB's system that I noticed I never have Tension because I'm constantly barriering half the time. Which I forget of course uses tension. And Ky does little to no damage with no meter so, dilemma.

That's mostly conjecture. Most people are shit at the game. Most of them don't even go online at all, so if you look at the percentages of people, more offline people than online people suck, you have tons and tons who don't dare to go online cause they fear they'll get owned. What we talk about is people who take the game seriously when we say netplay people suck...and well, people falsely assume that everyone who plays online takes the game as seriously as an offline tourneygoer, which is also false. Most people offline and online both don't take it seriously enough to get better than "shit", why only netplay gets this rep is because, I guess, people on netplay think they're not shit when they are but...how many offline people are there who think they're the best in the world just cause they constantly beat their small circle of friends but have never played a proper match against someone who actually knows how to play the game in their entire life? Again, the offline percentage is much higher in this too. Basically, if you run into someone who takes the game seriously, netplay or not, the time they'd have put in the game will separate them and make them certainly "not shit". They may not win EVO but they will know their stuff and will be a danger to most if not all good players. I was strictly a netplay warrior before going to my first casuals last year but I still whopped people left and right from the first time I went there, people who had been playing mostly offline, that's cause I had put 10 times the time they had in the game so even though I had to adjust to stuff, that experience mattered. Experience it what makes you not-shit, lag and stuff you get to adjust to eventually and you can still learn valuable lessons which make you actually better.

If he's an Anji main, expect him to know the character. Especially when you're playing a bad character, you -really- want t know your shit. You're not ass because you lost to bottom tier. If you get hit by a heavy starter you'll take a ton of damage no matter the char, some people just have MUCH easier time landing those starters than others. I want to sig this entire thing. Baiken dies fast. I'm never surprised if 70% of my life is chewed into. Anji does damage given the right starter. Baiken rips off 50% with 25% too without guard bar damage if she gets a (meaty?) 6K > 5HS starter in the corner and Fastfall dusts. And this is on Johnny.

You saw the damage O-sol does, right? He's supposed to be like C+ tier in this, I get damage off of just a few hard to land starters though. Eddie gets damage off of stuff that lead to unblockable setups where he can get that much more damage and another unblockable, that's what makes him the best. Don't focus at the damage chars do, focus on the ease with which they get that damage.

Good games; I didn't think I'd be able to play tonight as I still have this damn flu I got earlier this week! About the damage, I think that 70% you're talking about was when you were at full life as Baiken, guard cranked a bit, and I got a full corner carry+KD combo starting on 5S. Shit hits hard! I'm so excited about online play; my matchups are so far behind my general knowledge and execution due to my lack of competition. I know Anji really well, but it's so key to get the reactions and spacings against other characters down when you're actually playing, instead of just taking mental notes from videos. Everyone get at me when I'm feeling better! LET'S ROCK!

I assumed you were trolling when you picked subs (especially with all these videos with around here with your subs) so I was like "Ok I'll play along" But then I realized that wasnt helping me get better and luckily both stopped acting dumb at the same time. I think I kinda sorta understand Baiken's guard cancels now, but still just gotta keep playing.
