Zazz Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Random question: Are Gears edible? bonebiter eats lesser gears for their tasty HP
DonMungMung Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Ky doesn't drive. Sol does: http://biologin.guiltygear.ru/1087767855727vm8.jpg http://biologin.guiltygear.ru/whydoyoudrivezv0.jpg Once again, the community delivers. Thanks Bio <3 I've actually seen that first one! Ah, that one's stupidly great~ (the second one....pffftthahaha)
Blade Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Not exactly canonical anymore but worthy of fanfiction fodder at least (courtesy of Suzaku): *note that this points out a few glaring mistakes in the past on my part, so even I am not perfect* Prototype GG Character mentions: Millia: was originally a Brazillian Knife Fighter. (Now she summons knives from her hair.) May: used a large battle axe named Bohemian. Potemkin: Russian soldier who had an axe-scythe named Dreadnaught. Dr. Baldhead: Not quite as tall, but wore more of a Chinese outfit. No weapon name mention. Chipp: his arm blade was originally named Les Paul. Ky: was originally Russian (!?!), no mention of a weapon nickname.... Sol: Not too different, but slightly less bad natured. His sword had the word "Blazer" etched on it. This should clear a few things up. Also note that May's and Chipp's weapons are just called "Anchor" and "Blade" and so on....though it would've been nice to keep the names at least. Oh well.
Suzaku Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Baldhead's weapon has always just been called a "mes", which is the Japanese word for scalpel (derived from Dutch). Same for Faust. Venom's is a cue, Bridget's is a yoyo, I-No's is guitar (it's name isn't mentioned in the weapons section, IIRC), and so on. There's some more details on Potemkin and Slayer, I think, I'll check into it later. It does mention Millia's hair/forbidden beast being named Angra.
Blade Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Fun Voice Actor Trivia Post! Sol Badguy Voice Actors: Ishiwatari: We all know he made GG and the art and music (also did music for Blazblue), but he was also the voice of Freed in Battle Fantasia. Hikaru Hanada: voiced Kakashi from Naruto. "George" Nakata: Voices Alucard in Hellsing, Nero Chaos from Melty Blood...also Neko-Arc Chaos (!!) Ky Kiske: Takeshi Kusao: Voices every hero you ever heard of. Parn from Record of Lodoss War, Trunks from Dragonball Z, Capricorn Shura from Saint Seiya, and he debuted as Kai in the Akira movie. He also does psychos like Mao from Code Geass, and Krad from DNAngel. Paracelsus: Toshimichi Mori: Uh...this guy directed Blazblue. Axl Low: Keiichi Nanba: Did the OVA voice of Ryu Hayabusa for Ninja Gaiden. The adult voice of Bat for Hokuto no Ken (season 2). Also voiced Pisces Aphrodite from Saint Seiya crew. He's Andy Bogard in the Fatal Fury series. Baiken: Originally voiced by Satomi Koorogi, who is the *current* voice for May. Currently voiced by Yonemoto Chizu, who has done voicework as Zhu Rong in the Dynasty Warrior 3 and 4 games. Bridget: Originally voiced by Hiroko Konishi who voiced Roll from Megaman 8, and Lilith from the Darkstalker games. Currently voiced by Katoh Yukiko who is currently unknown as of yet. Roger (Bridget's Bear): Originally voiced by Akihiro Ishihara who was a developer for several games: Beautiful Katamari, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Battle Nexus, and Shenmue II. Currently voiced by Iguchi Takumi: currently unknown. Chipp Zanuff: Original Voice Takuya Moritou who also did the noises for Justice in the original GG. Current Voice Takeshi Miura who is a music composer for several games: Resident Evil Code Veronica, Time Crisis 3+4, and he was a Set Designer for Silent Hill 2 (PS2). Dizzy: Kazue Fujita is rather new to the scene, but she's voicing an assistant character in Blazblue, so wish her luck. (I like her voice). Dr. Paradigm: Yuji Mikimoto has played a lot of lesser characters in several series including Gundam Wing, Code Geass, Cowboy Bebop, Detective Conan, Hellsing, Lupin III, Machine Robo, Transformers, and lots of others. Zato-1/Eddie: Original voice Kaneto Shiozawa (R.I.P.): This guy was Aries Mu from Saint Seiya originally, Grey Fox in Metal Gear Solid, Devimon in Digimon Adventure 2, Rei in Hokuto no Ken, and many many others. He has several successors to take over his role, some famous, some not, but he will be missed. He was also the original voice of Dr. Baldhead. Koyasu Takehito succeeded Shiozawa as of GGXX, and has just an extensive resume, particularly he is known for voicing Il Palazzo from Excel Saga, Mu Lla Flaga from Gundam Seed, Zechs Merquise from Gundam Wing, Wyvern Rhadamanthys from Saint Seiya, and Lezard Valeth from the Valkyrie Profile games. Dr. Baldhead/Faust: Takashi Kondou plays both Faust and Potemkin at the same time, and he is the "Heaven or Hell, Duel 1, Let's Rock" Announcer for the original GGX. He's done some wacky voicework for several Anime but can do serious stuff too. His nickname is Kon-chan. I-no: Kikuko Inoue plays the voice of Belldandy (!?!) from Ah! My Goddess! She's also Miria from Claymore, Mizuho Kazami of Please! Teacher! (yes Pr0n much!), and she is the voice of Goddess Athena from Lunar: The Silver Star Story RPG. Not to mention she is the voice of The Boss from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and Rosemary from MGS2: Sons of Liberty. Izuna: Toru Furusawa plays Millions Knives in Trigun, Noroi in Flame of Recca, and was actually Ryan Steele's Live Action character for VR Troopers. Jam Kuradoberi: Manami Komori wrote and sang the Lyrics to the Opening and Ending Themes of the TV Special Seiki Manga Hajimete Monogatari. Johnny: Norio Wakamoto...what to say about him...the guy's done everything. He's Cell in Dragon Ball Z, Chaos in Final Fantasy Dissidia, Dracula in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Viper in Chrono Cross. Also he was once a member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Anti-Riot Squad Division before becoming a voice actor. He's a Second Level at Kendo and Third Level Shorinji Kempo, so don't mess with him. Judgment: Takayuki Ideriha directed Guilty Gear Judgment much like Daisuke directs the other GG games. Justice: Yumiko Ogawa also voices April of the Jellyfish Pirates. Kliff Undersn: Original voice, Hatsuaki Takami, not much on him. Shigeru Sakano is the current voice, and he's done work in the Anime Ehrgeiz (not to be confused with the Squaresoft game). Also Age of Chaos and Sorcerer Hunters OAV. May: Satomi Koorogi actually voiced the original Baiken, but besides that she's Chi in Chi's Sweet Home (Aww! Kitty!), Menchi in Excel Saga (Nooo! ), Nina Tucker in Fullmetal Alchemist, Togepi and Pichu in Pokemon, but historically she did a Japanese Dubbing role for Tweety Bird in Looney Tunes cartoons. Millia Rage: Yuko Sumitomo voices Lilly in One Piece, the School Nurse in Real Bout High School, also did a voice in Battle Arena Toshinden 3. Also did voicework in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Neo Ranga. Raven: Hiroki Yasumoto, he also plays Crow (Kuruwaba?). He's Guile in Street Fighter IV, Alex in Tatsunoko vs Capcom, and does a lot of villain voices in the Super Robot Wars games. Slayer: Kayumi Iemasa has an extensive amount of miscellany roles. Particularly Puppet Master in the original Ghost in the Shell movie, but also played as Dark God Zophar in Lunar 2: Eternal Blue. He's the Japanese Dub of Bill in Kill Bill and Kill Bill 2...hehe. Sin: Issei Miyazaki is Subaru Sumeragi in X. But also did the voice of Gen in Barefoot Gen. That Man: Original voice, Yasunori Masutani does Raphael in the Soul Calibur games. Tomokazu Sugita: OMG he's Ragna the BloodEdge from Blazblue. But also, Hideki in Chobits, Kyon in Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, "Clerk Sugita" in Lucky Star *rimshot*, and Leon Mishima in Macross Frontier. Testament: Originally voiced by Takami Akkun, not much on him. Akira Kobayashi is his current voice, and he's done a few things though he's better known for his Acting roles rather than voice roles. He sang a few songs for his movies "The Guitar-toting Rambler", and "Ginza's Whirlwind Child". His nickname is "Might Guy". He's a widower once married to famous singer Misora Hibari. Venom: Originally voiced by Mikio Yaeda, unknown. Currently voiced by Jyunichi Suwabe who has done quite a bit actually. Though he is known for his roles as Tseng in FFVII: Advent Children, Archer in Fate Stay Night, Cain Nightroad in Trinity Blood, He's also the Japanese voice of Balrog (Vega in U.S.) in Street Fighter IV. Zappa: Yuuji Ueda oh that loveable scamp! He is Keitaro Urashima in Love Hina. But he is also Sagara Senosuke from Rurouni Kenshin and Takeshi (Brock) from Pokemon. And that is all for now...hope you enjoyed it.
Suzaku Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Shigeru Sakano was also the uncredited voice actor who did Raven pre-GG2. It's also not known whether Crow (クロウ, Kurou) is really Kurou Kuruwaba (郭羽 九郎 (くるわば くろう), Kuruwaba Kurou) or not, since he claims not to be. Baiken and Johnny both identify him as such, however, and Crow acknowledges he knows Johnny's master, Hirofumi Unchou (雲長 博文, Unchou Hirofumi). To be absolutely clear, Kurou and Hirofumi are their given names, while Kuruwaba and Unchou are their surnames. In the English AC+, when Johnny is talking to him, the line, "Crow... Kuruwaba Kurou?!" was translated as just, "Crow... Kuruwaba!", but a moment later, Crow identified Johnny's master as Unchou Hirofumi, so the name ordering wasn't really localized consistently there.
Mr. Bad Guy Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Question regarding Sol's story in AC+. How exactly does he survive his past self being killed? I've read every page in this thread for months now, but the "cogito ergo sum" thing sounds kinda sketchy. Is that what actually happens? Also, Blade. You should have listed the English VAs for the Overture cast. They're damn near everywhere.
Blade Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 @Mr. Bad Guy: Regarding those events, it's in Sol's bad ending that That Man gives the hint. The idea is that his Past Self and Future Self are NOT his Present Self, as only the Present can have influence on either of these. Basically, Sol denies that the death of his Past Self has anything to do with his Present Self since he exists in his own timeline. If you can picture: ------- Basic Timeline -------\ ----------------Modified Timeline Sol A goes through the Crusades without Incident only to witness his past self get killed. Sol B goes through the Crusades and gets killed. Because Sol A went into his own past, another timeline possibility was generated, namely Sol B's present. This is the Modified Timeline. If Sol and I-no had not gone to the past, Sol B would not exist. It was I-no's goal to get Sol A to accept Sol B's death as his own past self, when in reality Sol A existed without such an incident. Another way of putting it, you cannot travel to the future and visit yourself. This is because your Present Self is moving outside the normal flow of time which is measured by change. If you move outside the flow of change, you cease to change, or more specifically you cease to exist on the plane of existence. What's more, the Present is constantly flowing towards the future, so any actions the Present Self takes will immediately effect the Future or at the very least have long term effects towards it. The Past Self is defined mostly by Memory and Recollection. Once something happens, it cannot unhappen in the course of events, no matter what sort of Undo or Apology or Takeback is made, it happened in existence. That's not to say stuff can't be psychologically forgiven, but that reality functions on an action>reaction basis. Lastly, once something occurs, it cannot occur the exact same way again, no matter how precisely calculated. Throw a stone in a pond and it creates ripples, you can take the stone out of the pond, but you can't take away the ripples that were generated. In this case, Sol B was one of the ripples. You can even throw the stone in again, but it won't generate the exact same ripples as before, or even land in the same point on water's surface as before. As to whether or not it's possible for Sol A to BECOME Sol B...well, it does seem like Cogito Ergo Sum in reverse. Also, I asked Zazz for a list of the U.S. voices. He should have it somewhere.
BioLogIn Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Well guys. I kinda went through two threads (this one and the overture one) (re-)dumping all the relevant plot info. That was like 2300+ posts, and it resulted in 200+kb of useful text (excluding Theria's overture scripts and Blade's .txt FAQs). I spend like 6 hours total. Why I'm writing this is to stress the importance of making a separate thread (or, rather, subforum) for official plot... and have some strict set up moderation there. Because currently it is impossible for a (new) user to dig out information she wants; you'll be doomed to answer the same questions again and again.
Blade Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Well, that tears it then. What say you, fellow info-getters (Raging Tofu/Suzaku/Other people)? How shall we proceed? If we make a separate thread/group of threads (and I suggest we discuss who would be the chosen moderators) we should organize this stuff in such a way as to be easily accessible. What's more...I'm almost positive there's going to be questions regarding the plot (even if I or someone else already provided answers) so there could be a QnA Thread to keep all that stuff nice and tidy. If some new information is provided based on a question, we add the info to the plot specific threads accordingly, how's that sound? I'm not the one to be talking to regarding reorganization of forum threads though. You might wanna talk to Gwyrgyn about that. Although to be honest, me and Raging Tofu were working on a site with character and plot relevant info that's still in the works. It would be even further detailed and organized, but like I said, it's still in the works. There's a lot of information to wade through and sort, so in the interim, keeping stuff in separate threads is not a bad idea.
kosmos badgirl Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Do we have the full translation or at least a summary for The Night of Knives drama CDs?.
BioLogIn Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Do we have the full translation or at least a summary for The Night of Knives drama CDs?. Quoted for proof of: currently it is impossible for a (new) user to dig out information she wants; you'll be doomed to answer the same questions again and again. There is a NoK summary is in this very thread, done by Blade. It is somethwere in the middle of the thread in like 10 posts. For your convenience I'm attaching a text dump to this post.
kosmos badgirl Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Oh, thank you for upload the archive and thank you to Blade for the summary.
danceljoy Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 For Zazz and Lou_Cypher, and for others who are interested enough: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5068035/1/Under_the_Umbrella this is kinda like a fanfic thread after all...with tons of official stuff. A KyxDizzy fanfic for you two. Not sad. The closest thing to romance after 3 years of failed attempts to write one. Probably my last GG fic this year, probably.
kosmos badgirl Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Finished with the night of knives summary, I enjoyed a lot the Assassins story. We don't have the summary for the third CD, right?.
Blade Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Grr...that reminds me yet again that I have to post a summary of Night of Knives 3....I'll try and work on it when I get some time (been trying to fix my PC so I'm preoccupied).
Sunnyday Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Grr...that reminds me yet again that I have to post a summary of Night of Knives 3....I'll try and work on it when I get some time (been trying to fix my PC so I'm preoccupied). PC fixing is hell.. Well good luck in getting it fixed, you will be needing it.

Mr. Bad Guy Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Thanks for clearing that up for me, Blade. The three posts above this illustrate why the idea of a new thread for (official)story-related matters is a good one.
Lou_Cypher Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 By the way...apparently Kliff 'knew' Paracelsus at one point. Or at least, according to him remembering something during his winquote against A.B.A. in Arcade.
