Blade Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 In response to that, I'm also a stickler for stating that Ky is straight as an arrow and that Sol is the one who initiates impromptu "situations".
TheAirCorsair Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I didn't dislike GG2 because of the fact that Ky got married. I never really thought about him as gay or straight. I disliked it because of the genre-change, dumping of the entire secondary cast, and introduction of a whole bunch of terms and ideas that hadn't even been remotely touched on before, despite that they would have been important. Here's to hoping Daisuke gets the rights to his own characters back. Otherwise, the rest of the female cast will have to do more Queen's Blade books just to make ends meet! Oh, the humanity!
Ashercroix Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Hate homos, no. Unless you're the type to hate people for silly reasons, period. Highly disapprove? Yes.
danceljoy Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Hate homos, no. Unless you're the type to hate people for silly reasons, period. Highly disapprove? Yes. Somehow like that, with Ky's knight image. I bear no hatred in homos themselves. Maybe its an added factor is that I would always lose to whoever uses him because of spammed Stun Edges... Though I REALLY LOVE the KyxDizzy pair, I personally think that GG2's story is very disjointed with GGXX. Too many things skipped and set aside like characters. *So I demand and anime OVA!* Better yet I'm just going to novelize GGX! *Just joking, too amateur...*
Sunnyday Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 An unanswered question: What is Tyr and Mizuha? Tyr and Mizuha are the main characters of Guilty Gear extra. I think there is a tread about the story, be sure to read it Anyway. My Fanfic got delayed to the horrible. I'm been busy with getting things done in my house, So until that is fixed, my GG fanfic is gonna be on hold sadly.

danceljoy Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 To Sunnyday, don't worry I'll be waiting for the continuation and by that time I'm sure I'm better at reviewing other stories. And I would also like to have your feedback on my "new" fics. What is your name on fanfiction.net? Sunnyday6982 I guess
Sunnyday Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 What is your name on fanfiction.net? sunnyday6982 i posted two stories, but i think i gonna rewrite most of it's parts to make it better. EDIT: 25-06-2009 To Sunnyday, don't worry I'll be waiting for the continuation and by that time I'm sure I'm better at reviewing other stories. And I would also like to have your feedback on my "new" fics. I posted a review on one of your stories, make sure you check that out
Zazz Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 ya know, with the EPIC amount of effort in BlazBlue's story mode, Arc really set the bar freakishly high for whenever they get back to making GG because if any game needs a "Teach me!" segment, its a new GG hopefully taught by Dr. P, with Sin as the doofus student
Blade Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 While I agree...I do sincerely hope they cut the snarky-ness out that GG is known for to beginners.
Neuro Chaos Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 While I agree...I do sincerely hope they cut the snarky-ness out that GG is known for to beginners. Please, elaborate.
Blade Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 I guess in part I'm overblowing the idea, but for a beginner, GG is hard. That's what I think anyway. I'm saying that it's never been really beginner-friendly first and foremost in the past, and even the attempts made to make it easier haven't been all that successful. That, and the style GG usually carries with it is much darker than Blazblue to contrast, meaning you can expect a lot of criticism and jargon fed down your throat if you don't know what's going on...either the game system or the story, that's sorta what I meant by snarky. About the only thing I can say got easier were Mission Mode's Missions, but only because certain things didn't work out at all or were near impossible to complete.

About the only thing I can say got easier were Mission Mode's Missions, but only because certain things didn't work out at all or were near impossible to complete. when i first played gg(dust strikers was my first game)I was using the experience i had obtained through KOF.and when i first played KOF(98)i used the experience i had obtained through SF.gg was way different from street fighter, but because i was used to KOF which had use of many half cresent instead of quarter cresent moves,it didnt take very long to adapt.i guess you could say that the most popular games is too easy, and that the moderately popular game can open the doors to proficiency in games people hardly know.although gg is pretty popular now.you just dont run into anyone that really plays it unless your at an expo.half the people that i know play, only know because i introduced them to it.

Maybe it could be like that, a friend of mine is losing her fandom to GG because she doesn't enjoy being with "many elitists GG fans." Oohh....criticisms... I guess I would be criticized after I say this: the last time I've played with a human opponent was in GGX Dreamcast. Because nobody plays GG here, and it is gone from the arcades too some years ago T.T

About the only thing I can say got easier were Mission Mode's Missions, but only because certain things didn't work out at all or were near impossible to complete. GG is hard, It requires a lot of learning and a lot of time being in training mode. The thing what i find it hardest is not the combo's but getting the combo's done using the stick instead of the D-pad. For some reason i grow soo used of playing around with D-pad that it is hard for me to adjust towards the stick, But if i'm using a D-pad controller i cannot do roman channels/ false romans channels in a proper matter. So i often end up trying to play the game without the D-pad xD. As for the story of GG. I TBH find the story of GG pretty hard to understand at first, there are lots of spaces within the story that haven't the written completely, together with the timeline that has change a lot with I-no interfering with the fates of Ky Kiske and Dizzy. I for most of the part do understand the storyline, but if i wanna write down some fan-fic i need to be very careful where i put the characters with my story. I have to really look at their tiers and make sure everything is balanced. If i also wanna add some invented characters in to my fan-fic (something i'm doing at this moment) than i really need to take a good look on how i balance that towards the old GG cast and making sure that timeline wise it is correct. It takes a lot of thinking and a lot of writing over before i'm happy with the result and than i gonna have to publish the stories and hope for some positive feedback. Writing stories is tougher than i image, i had to tune down a lot of my ideas before i could write them down properly, not to mention avoiding all the grammar and spelling mistakes that i make along the way . Maybe you guys declare me crazy, But i'm one of the few who wants to write down fan-fic in a serious matter for as long as it is possible xD
Blade Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 I think I'll repost these terms since people tend to mispell/mispronounce them a lot. Chouhatsu = Taunt, also used for Air Turning for crossups (GG1) Keii = Respect, also used for charging Charge Attacks and Faultless Defense. (GG1) Dast/Aerial = Dust Attack Chase Jump = That funky jump you can do after a Dust attack that gives you unlimited jump cancels for a while. Shoot for the stars! Charge Attack = Attacks the can be charged up (GG1 only) Gatling Combination = The combo system for cancelling one normal into another P,K,S,H,D. Awakening Technique/Kakusei Waza = When a character gets a Yellow Aura or reaches half health or less and can either get quick Tension gain or unlimited use of Overdrives/Chaos Attacks. This also happened in GG Judgment when the Tension Gauge above the Life Bar was full and flashing for a time. Dash = Ground based running...can become a Breaker/Dust Attack in some situations. Backdash = Evasive manueaver but also used for cross-ups in some situations. Down Recovery = Another term for Air Recovery/Teching Two-Level Jump = Double Jump, Chipp/Justice have three-level...Dizzy and Millia have Two-Level Airdash. High Jump = Super Jump Contact Technique = Throw/Command Throw/Air Throw Sousai = Offset/Counterbalance aka the Clash that happens when two attacks hit, in the original GG 3 of these would push you away from your opponent, now it grants an instant move cancel from anything. Dead Angle Attack = 50% Tension Alpha Counter also known as Gamble Attack that got rid of all your Tension in GG1. Hissatsu = Special Attacks like Volcanic Viper. Instant Kill System/Ichigeki Hissatsu Shisutemu = otherwise known as "Sakkai" (Instant Kill), the original system had various attacks grant "IK Stab" properties as well as P+K or P+H which could be evaded or countered with someone else's IK...but the end result ended the match, not just one round. Now it's a bit more risky and blows away your Tension or drains health if you're not careful. "Sakkai Hassei Waza"/Instant Kill Outbreak Technique = IK Stab, see above. Faultless Defense = Official term for Tension Guarding...originally done by holding Respect+Guard. Roman Cancel = Any 3 "primary attack" buttons (PKSH) during a physical contact move costs 50% Tension. Force Roman Cancel = Any 3 "primary attack" buttons (PKSH) during a critical set of frames during a move, often projectiles and non-physical contact moves. Costs 25% Tension. Yellow Roman Cancel = Aka YRC Chip (GGIsuka) or Yellow RC. Same as the two above only costs an even 12% Tension no matter what. Chaos Roman Cancel = Aka Chaos RC (GG Judgment), but works only for physical contact special movess (Hissatsu Waza), costs 25% Tension like an FRC regardless if YRC is enabled. Some Forcebreak moves can be CRCed but not many. Forcebreak = Obviously a go-between for Special Attacks and Overdrives. To my knowledge Baiken, Axl, Sol, and Ky are the only ones who can link Forcebreaks straight into Overdrives. Overdrives = Originally known as Chaos Attacks, originally took up 100% Tension, now only 50% (most of the time), some can be FRCed/Forcebreaked/CRCed as well. During Kakusei Waza/Awakened Mode...this move could be used indefinitely or at least more often. Psyche Burst = Or just called Burst. Filled up when blocking/taking damage. Blue Burst empties the gauge when missed but is defensive to get the opponent off you, Gold Burst gives you full Tension if you hit with it and is offensive only, gives you half a Burst Gauge when blocked.
Sunnyday Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Blade, i think you forgot the "tiger kick" and the throw break.
Dizzy Kiske Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 This is really bugging me . . . Did Ky ever get a formal education (as in high school or college)?? People said that he studied in the Holy Orders, but I don't think they had 4 years of high school or college there. Then he started working after the Holy Orders was disbanded, so did he go to college then?? It's all confusing me, and I might need this for a future fanfiction. I know that Dizzy didn't have to go to school, and she probably read every single book from the Guinness Book of World Records to the Dictionary. But I'm still wondering whether or not Ky did receive a formal education other than middle school.

People said that he studied in the Holy Orders, but I don't think they had 4 years of high school or college there. Ky entered the Sacred Order when he was around 15, so in that time he could have finished highschool, he's a genius after all. Also, it may also depend on the educational system, in my country we don't middle school, just 6 yrs of grade school and 4 yrs of HS. His college could be his military training, he's a soldier after all, but we see that he got promoted into Commander, basically he's overqualified to train with new recruits. After the war, he could have completed a police training, but again, he may be overqualified again already.

After the war, he could have completed a police training, but again, he may be overqualified again already. that could be true too! (lol I'm from the Philippines too, but I grew up in the US). However, even if Ky does overqualify, doesn't he still need a college degree to work?? Ky needed at LEAST four years of college before becoming a police officer (his post-War job), because it's the requirement of the federal agencies (it applies to the world). Maybe Ky went to college during the War (i think it's impossible since he might've been too busy to focus on studying)?? Either that or Ky managed his time VERY well and earned college credit from being in the Holy Order. Maybe he graduated college within a short period of time, meaning that it could have been possible for him to work in the Police Force. hurray for college credit!! It seems possible??
Raging Tofu Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Y'know there's also the kind of people who are able to complete a high school education in less than four years. Given Ky's gifted talents, and supposing the Order was well supplied with classes and/or tutors, this could also be possible. As far as his post-war education goes, a two-year Criminal Justice degree is generally good enough to get into most forms of local enforcement. However, again due to Ky's unique situation, being former Commander of the Order probably vetted him in. Then again, Ky is a bit of an over achiever, so who knows?

Not in a GG world I think. If the world is full of starvation, crime, corruption and currently healing itself from the war, would a college degree still be needed? I think education was one of the lesser priorities that time, the Seikishidan required a large amount of budget to be sustained. And economy in general, including taxation could be in a very bad state. PS. OMG...almost every KyxDizzy fan I've encountered is has some connection to the Philippines...
