Lou_Cypher Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 S-ko/Testament? Zappa/Millia? Those were good ideas! Why'd they leave them?!
Zazz Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 He knows about Sol being a Prototype, um i think Crow was referring to the Justice Copy as being a prototype, not Sol during that exchange.
danceljoy Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Some things I found interesting *spoilers ahoy*: --May claims a lot of stuff is "happening again", as if she's experienced a lot of stuff in the past...blanked out memories of the war? --Ky knew about May being Japanese before she found out. :8/: I wonder.... ble? --S-ko had the brief hots for Testament....until he decided to a jerk about it. Likewise Zappa almost made it with Millia...darn. More later... I'm not exactly sure but I remember that Millia betrayed Zato because she cannot kill some kids in a facility(Night of Knives?). It may be possible that May is one of them. Then when she left the assassins she contacted the police via Ky Kiske and probably Ky handed the kid, May, to Johnny. Ky may have learned details regarding those "superhuman kids." If Ky was 17 back then, May could have been 6 to 7 years old thus she can't remember well. Just a theory. About the hots for Testa and the ZapMil...h-how!?
Zazz Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 ok folks, its time to work out: which endings are canon?! my guesses? ABA = Neither. I don't like them. Anji = 1. Keeps him in the main storyline. Axl = Both? Lol time travel. Baiken = ??? Yeah with Baiken . . . I could see her just flipping out. Bridget = 1. I dunno. Though 2 may be leading somewhere as well . . . Chipp = 1. Buddy Cop Action Drama! Dizzy = 1. ←♥→ :KY: Eddie = 2. I'd say 1, but then I remembered that Eddie IS daisuke's favorite character after all. Faust = 1. Keep on truckin, doc. I-no = 1. Maybe there are second chances . . . Jam = 1. The other one is way too silly. Johnny = ??? Stumped here . . . could go either way. Ky = 1. ←♥→ :KY: May = ??? Same as Johnny. Millia = 1. Seems to fit Millia more. Potemkin = 1. Buddy Cop Action Drama Sequel! Robo-Ky = 1. Sorry ol' buddy, you're obsolete. Slayer = ??? You just can't read the old man here. Sol = 1. Finalizes Sol's conflict with Ky. Testament = ??? I got nothing. You think that fire would do him in? Venom = 2. We all know the Guild is still around in GG2 . . . Zappa = 1. Be careful what you wish for. Kliff, Justice & O.Sol stories are old history man.
Blade Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Little tidbits about Crow: --Seems to be "mistaken" for Crow Kuruwaba, though they may be the same and he just denies his old name... --Section Chief, but Robo-Ky has no respect for him at all. "Dame Hakase!!" --It seems this Crow Kuruwaba was sealed in Dimensional Prison at one point by his master...though how Johnny knows about it I'm not sure, but it has something to do with Johnny's Master, Unchou Hirufumi. --Slayer mentioned that Crow used to be a former medical doctor instead of a scientist. Perhaps he is an acquaintance of Faust? Lots of facepalm moments with Chipp and Bridget...and lets face it, A.B.A. isn't very smart either. Chipp is reminding me more and more of a certain "other" Ninja...you know who I mean. Not sure where the phrase "Yo Daitoryo!" [Way to go, Mr. President!] comes from...entertainment pun perhaps? S-ko is mistaken by Chipp to be a famous ghost named Oiwa-San http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yotsuya_Kaidan (seems to be the inspiration for Sadako/The Ring)
Zazz Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Little tidbits about Crow: --Seems to be "mistaken" for Crow Kuruwaba, though they may be the same and he just denies his old name... doesn't baiken also call him a "disgrace to the japanese people"?
Blade Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 So we can extrapolate that Crow is of Japanese origin??
Blade Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 And once again, I am suspicious of things relating to the "Present" and "Future" events. I have this gut feeling that Crow has something to do with Raven.....I know that sounds weird but, Anji says there's something about both of them he just doesn't like.
Lou_Cypher Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 Aside from the fact that Raven are Crow are both 'evil' birds....could Raven be Crow's doppelganger who shared the same name before? Nah...he lived in the medieval ages...right?
Suzaku Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I wonder if this has anything to do with Rave[finput][/finput]xl? In the description of the "Axl" keyword in Raven's section of the 10th Memorial Book, it says, "Mr. Ishiwatari says the theory that Raven and Axl are parallel existences is unfounded," and that Raven's immortality has nothing to do with time jumping. According to the "Perpetual Youth and Longevity" keyword, it's revealed in his short story that Raven's a natural, genetic immortal, and that at the moment his immortality manifested, he ceased aging. It also mentions a "Cylindrical Space", but states that the details are unclear. Raven's "Axl" keyword refers to Axl's section, specifically to his "Timeslip" keyword. It states that, according to Mr. Ishiwatari, the identity of Axl's "parallel existence" is completely different from the theory amongst fans, and will be an unexpected character. It states that he has eternal youth until the Timeslipping ends -- though I'm not sure if that means Axl or the parallel existence. So, there you have it -- not Raven. Could it perhaps be... That Man, or someone related to him, like the other associate? Who knows... Aside from the fact that Raven are Crow are both 'evil' birds....could Raven be Crow's doppelganger who shared the same name before? Nah...he lived in the medieval ages...right? They've also got the same voice actor. There's definitely some sort of connection, but damned if I know what it is. I haven't found anything interesting about him in the GG10th book yet, beyond him probably being the scientist that manufactured the Robo-Kys and being a branch chief / division head within the Post-War Administration Bureau.
Blade Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I think the hint lies in what That Man and I-no have been tinkering with as of late. --Clashes between two powerful beings result in time-space distortion, even if the clash occurs with the exact same being but of a different time space. (i.e. Axl versus Axl) --Something similar can occur when a powerful being clashes with multiple beings of a certain amount of power and then unleashes the feedback onto an intended target. Think of how static electricity builds up and then gets unleashed. I-no tried to set this up on Sol since she knew her power alone wouldn't be enough to send him flying in a time distortion. Theoretically, it's also possible that Axl accidentally discharged his "time friction" on Jam, Crow, and the P-Series bots as well. --Beings of the same existence yet different timeframe automatically repel one another, as is what occurs with Axl when he encounters Raven. It's strange to note he doesn't seem to have this similar occurance to past or future encounters with himself, nothing he points out, anyway. His "strange feelings" when he time slips aren't occurring when his "other selves" are around. --Existential beings "Exist" in the Present. Altering their Future or Past can technically have very little effect on them if they are conscious of their own "Present Identity", though this appears to cause a "disparity" between a Past Self and a Present Self, if such were to occur...just like it would be very hard to "find your future self" if you traveled to the future. Because you jumped the timeline, technically you'd be somewhere else. --Existence can still "Exist" in enclosed non-time space. That is to say, they are alive, but do not change or function in timeflow, such as when I-no was frozen. What's more, That Man claims he can utilize I-no's "time" for something else. --We later learn that That Man has managed to reverse his own personal timeflow so that he is actually becoming younger. I'm not entirely sure what all this adds up to, but it seems to be something very diabolical that may come up.
danceljoy Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Not really connected to the topic but if possible I think it would be good to revise the GG article in Wikipedia(I don't know how). In there, only Sol, I-No and Potemkin are the main characters...Ky should be included. It really lacks information.
Blade Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 I sincerely doubt anyone's going to update Wikipedia. Honestly, I think an official Wikia for Guilty Gear would be more useful if it hasn't been made already. And I don't mean the strategy wikis that offer in-game tips.
Sunnyday Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Not really connected to the topic but if possible I think it would be good to revise the GG article in Wikipedia(I don't know how). In there, only Sol, I-No and Potemkin are the main characters...Ky should be included. It really lacks information. It used to have lots of info, but now for some reason alot of it has been removed.

Sunnyday Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 It used to be a decent source of information, people have been editing it lately and taking A LOT of things out. Deleting whole pages, even. well atleast we can trust Blade and many others for the guilty gear lore. =D
Blade Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Thanks for the vote of confidence, Sunnyday. I will do my best. Though please note I haven't read the memorial book yet, or the Overture book either, so that may take some time.
Blade Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Okay folks, this may be a shocker but...I think I may have found the "big hint" on what the Jinki and OutRage represent. It all originated in Shinto belief. First, recall that there are 8 sacred treasures. Jinki (item) (神器 ,literally "God Vessel"/"Divine Tool"), an item used in Shinto ceremonies to worship Kami (God). The question of why there are 8 stems from this symbol, called the Eight Trigram Furnace, found in the I Ching beliefs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Ching Now recall the list of Jinki: Fuuenken (Fireseal Sword) Kojouhaku (White on the Lake) 湖上白 Unnamed #1 Unnamed #2 Each of these weapons/tools probably represent an element among these. Heaven/Creation Lake/Happiness Fire/Knowledge* Thunder/Initiative* Wind/Gentility Water/In-motion Mountain/Dedication Earth/Reception So far we only know of two for sure. As I can't really say what the rest are, but be sure to keep an eye out for the next ones. My speculation at this point: Thunderseal = Thunder (obvious) Fireseal = Fire (again, obvious) Zessen = Wind (Fujin is the hint) Senga = Heaven Ekitoku = Mountain Kojouhaku = Lake ??? #1 = Water (Associated with Violence) ??? #2 = Earth (Associated with Devotion)
danceljoy Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Interesting...now I'm more curious about Dizzy's connection to the Jinki.
Blade Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I don't know who all has GGXXAC+ US version yet, but I would like to ask, if there is anyone out there who doesn't have it and if they have any questions regarding it. Even with all the info me and Zazz have been blabbing about lately, there's still a bunch of stuff that could be discussed or mentioned. That, and again, I apologize for the late mention that I still haven't gotten around to doing summaries for Night of Knives part 3. Someone already did the Axl sidestory, but I have yet to finish. Also @ Ashercroix: You mentioned sometime ago that you wanted to work on translating the mook stories on Raven/Sin/That Man/Valentine/Izuna/Dr. P/etc...if I could be so kind as to ask if you made progress on that, or perhaps if not, could you produce a Japanese text document transcript of it? I'm better at translating Japanese if it's typed text rather than reading it off the page (yeah it shows my translation skills aren't up to snuff but oh well).
Ashercroix Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 WOW. O_O I was just fooling around in here and was so surprised to see my name my stomach flopped. Hahaha. First off, awesome find with the Jinki. I love stuff like that. Second, I got some stuff, but it's WAY too hard for me. The first paragraph is totally just talk about the history of magic discovery and theory, as far as I can tell, and... yeah, on top of my depression, the difficulty was kicked up like, way too many notches for me right now. Edit: I should probably clarify that I only wanted to do That Man's story, since I knew the difficulty was over my head but I NEEEEDED to know what it says, so that's all I did. I can slowly get you the others if you need them, however. However, I would be MORE than happy to make a transcript up for it for you. I might not be able to read it too easily, but getting it all down for you shouldn't be too much of a problem. I needed something to do today (besides two papers I have to write by tomorrow >___>|||) anyway. I'll get right on it! d >_< b I guess non-canon doujinshi is more my field, anyhow. :P
Blade Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Basically, I just need someone who can copy-pasta the Japanese text if possible. If you can type Japanese, that's fine. You don't need to translate, and that can save you some work.
Ashercroix Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Turns out IRL copypasta is a lot harder than I thought. @_@ I get bleary-eyed after about an hour of squinting at tiny kanji in a book, and looking up said tiny kanji on the internets. I haven't had any trouble finding the kanji themselves to put in a word file, but it's just all the tiny-font book-to-computer-screen back-to-book-ness. Eh, it's all right though, it's just coming along rather slowly. A lot of them repeat too, so soon I'll just be able to copypasta them right out of the same word file. Geh, I need to get better at this. The looking-up of the kanji is really the hardest part, so depending on whether or not I can get the gist of some stuff while I'm doing this, I might be able to translate some stuff already. Or at least have a vague summary of each paragraph. That might help you. :P
