SoWL Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Since Guilty Gear was the fighting game that got me into tournament scene, but it was BB that taught me to do more than button-mashing, this feels like homecoming of a wise master who now wants to see how much I've learned while he wasn't around. And I'm going to show him so damn much. Now, where is my Faust, my first fighting game love?
Klaige Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 I woke up with an hangover and then saw this trailer. The hangover was incinerated instantly. Hot fucking damn it's a good day.
Luminos564 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Another good thing: ALTERNATE COSTUMES, BABY! Fuck yo downloadable color packs, sprite-based fighters! Why would you need alternate costumes when Guilty Gear designs are fighting game perfection defined ? Lighthearted joke, so don't think too much on that statement.
gamester Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Just caught wind of this news. Looks interesting and will certainly be keeping an eye on further news. I look forward to Dizzy-ness.
GKHiryu Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 My bet is that the footage is so slow intentionally - ASW wanted to showcase all the familiar moves. Ofc game proper cannot run so slowly. Other than that it looks like something worth waiting for, but I'm more interested in whether or not ASW will finally change it's release policy.
destruction_adv Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 ...simply beautiful...I can barely bring myself to think about anything else. The new 3D is so much better than SF4's, only sad part is I liked old Millia better.
Climhazzardous Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 The visual style grew on me incredibly quickly (with the exception of Ky lol). I think it's pretty much done perfectly; maybe some model tweaks for more detail, but so far the execution is best-of-both-worlds PERFECT. I mean, everything I love about 2D sprites are still there, and looking even better (ATG's comparison shows that you can at least see Sol's eyes now for e.g). Also, this game is in like...Alpha stages so let's not get too ahead of ourselves with the game speed and visuals. On another note...who noticed the changes to the Clash system? It seems that attacks of a similar level clash normally; while stronger attacks clashing with weaker attacks gives stronger attacks an advantage; and strong attacks vs strong attacks cause both characters to fall back. This could be a really great mechanic to the otherwise (almost) straightforward clash system from before). Like, imagine baiting a strong attack out after a draw clash; you can do so much depending on the character. We have yet to see how clashes work in relation with special moves however (e.g Sol's DP vs HS)
BladeOfJustice7 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 I never gave up HOPE on a new sequel. And now I have a purpose for living once again...
Starlight777 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Not gonna lie, I like Millia and Ky's new designs more. The only thing I dislike is that Millia has May's color scheme but that's what alternate colors are for.
9TNine Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Bombshell news I see here! What do you guys think of this new GG, will it be a continuation, or will be a Reboot? I think a reboot would be better to organize the story of GG and connect some loose ends! A Reboot would be very good for both veterans and beginners and i think Justice as the final boss in the best thing possible for this game. I hope that most of the old cast back, though I find it hard all the old characters show up, and also hope that there is 1-2 new characters. Looks like between X and XX to me. Hence Xrd. -9
TPPR10 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Looks like between X and XX to me. Hence Xrd. -9 I am pretty sure that this is between XX and Overtune. Xrd should seen as XXX (like 3rd), but since XXX means yeah, they wanted to avoid that thing.
Suzaku Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Looks like between X and XX to me. Hence Xrd. -9 Xrd (pronounced "Iguzaado" / "Igzird") is a combination of "X" ("Iguzu") and "3rd" ("Saado" / "Third") so it would almost certainly be after GGXX, and possibly after GG2. Also note the three intersecting Xs floating behind the logo.
BlackYakuzu94 Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Ky looks like Saber...I'll never be able to unsee that.
Massaki Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Call me silly, but. After extensively rewatching the trailer, I think I've noticed some differences in the Clash System. Around the 1:45 mark, there are a couple of clashes between Slashes and Heavy Slashes. The character using the Slash attack gets into short semi stun state as if blown back. And then with both attacks of the same category clash, they get evened out. ..I'm probably reading too much into this, tho.
BioLogIn Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 At 1:32 of trailer there is a writing on Sol's new sword: Bullet Heaven, ???, Jan 15 2187. GG2 Overture takes place in 2186. Which implies that GGXrd takes place after Overture timeline. I wonder how Ky got his Furaiken back.

More than probable they are reworking the clash system
Massaki Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 It has been pointed out already. Oh, it has? Cool then.

Also note the three intersecting Xs floating behind the logo. Yeah, I get and saw all that. I kind of figured that it was sort of a way of indicating it's "the next game" while using the solo X to sort of place it in between. That as well as the cosmetic stuff makes me think a lot of the early artwork. Although, I had forgot that story-wise, the first few are supposed to take place within a few weeks of each other, so i guess that's out. -9
felipebwk Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 correct me if I'm wrong, but Aksys got the rights for Guilty Gears, correct? Or Sega still owns the franchise? I did not like to see the Sega Logo, I prefer GG in the hands of Aksys. = /
InWithTheAshes Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Yup, they bought the rights back. It was relatively easy because Sammy wasn't really doing anything with them.

So that pretty much confirms beyond doubt that this is post-Overture. If Ky's got the Thunderseal back, that almost certainly means Dizzy has been released from the time seal.

With ArcSys working to make more of a US presence, I would imagine they'll handle this one themselves. -9

Or they will take SNK route with never aging characters.
